Day 3 - Couple of Hours Before Break of Dawn
~ Somewhere inside a classroom of the Old School Building? ~
POV: Taniyama Mai
I wake up laying on the ground, knowing nothing where I was. Without a second thought, I stumble myself upright, looking for any signs of- something. But it was an empty room with one chair in the middle.
'Creepy...' I thought, as I stare at the chair for a moment, 'If I stare at it any longer I might start imagining things...' I quickly stare at the ground.
At the same time, I could hear my heart beating louder and faster. I hug myself real tight feeling afraid that my heart might jump out… Of course, I know it can't just jump out of my body like in movies and stuff… but, the mysterious- unsure feeling made me believe my heart could just jump out anytime. And the words- it won't go away… it just keep repeating inside my head, 'Help me, ****!' This **** person… I desperately call out for him over and over. Thinking why won't he save me? Or more like, why do I need saving from him? I start to cry, feeling confuse.
"Calm down… Calm down…" a faint female voice said.
'A voice...' I thought, noticing I've stop shaking, 'It sounds familiar… But I don't…'
"We have to think of a way to get inside that building," continue the female voice.
"We all know that..." said, another person with an older male voice.
"...I wonder how we're going to do that..." said, a third person with a strange Japanese dialogue.
"Well... We can't use the front entrance no more…" said, the fourth person with a young female voice.
"We don't need a door to get inside a broken down building," said, a fifth person with a young male voice.
He sounds much calmer than the others, I thought. And my heart start to beat loud, but in weird way. It wasn't- surprisingly, I can't put it into words to describe the feeling.
"Well, that is why you're the brains of this operation, my dear Naru-chan," said, the second man.
"N-Naru...?" I thought.
I get up to my feet, baby-stepping my way to the window and reach for the outer frame of the window. Desperately, looking for them, hoping maybe they could help me. They were not so far away from the building where I was held up in. They were discussing about how to counter-attack or something- once they enter the building against this thing?
Onee-san~
A voice came from behind me. Its hand grab my shoulder and tries to pull me away from the window. Surprise by it, I grab the window or anything near me for dear life. Knowing that if I let go of whatever I'm holding, I won't be able to see those people again- ever. Tears start to fall down to my chin and slowly I lose my grip of whatever I was holding on feeling sleepy for some reason. I stare past the window looking at the man in all black just before everything turn black.
'That's right. You are Naru… The one I was calling for… all this time,' the last drip of tear fall down my chin.

"W-What's up, Masako?" Monk ask, noticing her serious face.
Masako point her fingers to one of the upper windows.
"... I've been sensing a presence from there for a while ago..." she said, frowning.
"Really?" he said, doubtful.
He squish his eyes closer together and look at the direction where Masako point.
"It suddenly disappear… Just now," Masako said, softly.
A few feet away from Masako and Monk.
Naru stare at the building for a couple of seconds before leaving the group. He went back to his van and sit down staring at papers and his laptop, just like a couple of hours ago. John and the others look at each other and shrug.
"I guess that means, we're on our own," Monk look toward Masako.
"Don't look at me, creep," Masako said, coldly.
Monk laugh, "Leave him be, John," noticing John's worry faces, "You're just wasting it on him, rather than someone who does need it."
"...Yeah. I'll go and ask if he need any other help," John said.
He left the group and hurries toward the van. After John was gone, Ayako, Monk, and Masako were left alone, brainstorming alternative plans, if plan A didn't work and such.
"Get any plan to deal with this ghost and to get Mai back?" Ayako start, and pause to think for a second, "Who knows what could happened to her…" she add.
"For one thing, finding a new way to deal with that thing is gonna be hard to do. Especially, when we did everything from chants to prayers against it. Every last one didn't slow it down, not even a fraction of second for some reason," Monk said, in disbelief.
"My chants wasn't strong enough to work against it…" Ayako said, "At that time, I was confident that my charms would work… But it didn't."
"My tokkosho… I throwed my tokkosho but he... disappeared in split seconds before my tokkosho even have the chance to reach it," Monk said, after.
"And I was unconscious," Masako said.
Monk and Ayako glare at Masako.
"What?" Masako said, facing away from them.
"Sigh… You know what, we aren't going anywhere at all," Monk said, having a headache.
For a long time, all three of the group stare at the van where Naru and John whisper this and that to themselves. Naru sigh and left John by himself and rejoin with the group. While, John suddenly start to walk out of the school ground.
"S-So? What's wrong with John?" Ayako ask, a bit uncomfortable.
"Stop poking your nose at the wrong end," Naru said, simply.
Monk, Ayako, and Masako watch as John get on a cab and drive off to somewhere. At the same time, the break of dawn rise, slowly brightening everything around the school ground. Birds and other living things start to wake up, full of energy and carefree, except the old school building- it was the only place that the sunlight dare not to go near... After all, it gives everyone including Naru, the feeling- ...a feeling that could describe the word, 'miserable' in many ways.
"It's beginning soon…" Masako said, softly.
"Good thing it's a Saturday, right?" Monk said, a bit nervous.
"No student's for that ghost's to feed on… I feel sorry for that girl- we didn't manage to save her…" Ayako said, silently.
Monk raise one of his hand and gently massage one of Ayako's shoulder.
'Mai, I'm sorry… I'm sorry…' Was the only thing Naru was thinking at the same time.
POV: Shibuya Kazuya (Naru)
~Flashback: With Mai?~
I closed my eyes and concentrated my power to one weak point of the ceiling, which felt as if it's falling slowly.
'...I need to use it! Or Mai and me will be nothing left!' I thought.
"N-Naru…" I heard Mai, mumbled in her sleep.
I smirk.
BOOM! *The sound of pieces of cements breaking to smaller pieces and turning to dust.*
I opened my eyes and look around before standing up, breathing hard.
'I need to get Mai out of here..' I said, to myself.
"H-Hey, anyone in here-?! Huh? Hey, is that you, Naru?! Hey, you okay?" Takigawa said, out of breath, "Hm? I-Is that Mai? Is she alright?!" He came running toward us.
"Take her…" I past her to him.
"Hey, Naru! Naru…" was the last thing I heard, before everything turn black.

~Continuing Flashback~
Naru collapsed in front of Monk after giving Mai to him.
"Hey, Naru! Naru!" Monk said, startled.
In the hallway, Masako and Ayako came running toward the room Monk entered. Masako stopped in front of the door of the room while, Ayako, who was ahead of Masako didn't notice her stopped by the doorway. She continued to run toward Monk and took Mai. Monk went over to Naru and check his conditions.
'W-What a trouble scent...' Masako thought, and fell to the ground.
Her face turn pale and covered her mouth with her kimono.
"Masako?! What are you doing?! Help me carry Mai out!." Ayako said, not noticing what happened to Masako.
"I- I can't get up…" Masako said, softly.
"We should get out of here. Naru is barely breathing! What the heck happened to him? He look quite exhausted, too," Monk said, hastily.
"To where?" John's voice came out of nowhere.
He help Masako up and together they walk toward Monk and Ayako.
"Where else? Out of this falling building!" He piggyback Naru.
He start to walk out to the hallway.
"No, I meant how are we going to get out? We are in the second floor, not to mention the stairways are all block. I went and check, not even one is safe to get down," John said, eye's pointing toward Naru.
"Damn it! If only we were in the first floor… We could just run out the exit or break a window or something…"
He-lloo! Looking for an exit? Then, why don't we play a new game? It's called, "Catch me" and you'll leave the building safely! Buuut! (Pause) If you lose! *Hehehe* Mai onee-san, will stay and you all have to leave this building with no guarantee of making it out alive! Just like 'them'*A child- older Man voice laugh*
A long silences filled the room. In that long silences, Monk and the others didn't know what to do or how to respond to that challenge.
"That's interesting… Fine, we're going to play," Naru said, out of nowhere.
*Hehehe* The game has nooooooo rules! Just catch me or should I say, 'if you can destroy me'. You win. Until, then wait inside that room behind you.
And the voice disappeared.
Ayako furiously look at Naru and said, "How could you make such-"
"We have better chance this way. Or haven't you not notice that we haven't been going anywhere but in circles?" he said, weakly.
Ayako, Monk, and John look around.
"We're back to square one…" John said, noticing the same classroom.
"So, what are we going to do?" Ayako ask.
"If you don't mind…" Naru said, toward Monk.
"Hm? Oh, sorry," Monk said, and put Naru down.
"Let's go inside the classroom first. And put those two down," Naru glance toward Mai.
He start to walk inside and the others followed.
~End of Flashback~
POV: Shibuya Kazuya (Naru)
"Naru, wake up," Lin's voice came out of nowhere.
I opened my eyes and get up. I was at the back of the van.
"What time is it?" I ask, Lin.
"...It's 1:02 in the afternoon. What happened here? The building is…" he turn around and stare at the building with a frown.
"I don't know maybe it got anger at us."
"You went and challenge the ghost again, didn't you?"
I didn't say anything.
"How many times do I have to keep telling you?! It's dangerous to go alone!" Lin snap.
"I wasn't alone," I said.
I get up and gather the files of papers on the van.
"Lin…" I begin.
"Hm?" Lin said, as he grab all the files off me.
'Should I tell him? Maybe I shouldn't tell him yet...' I debt to myself, "Forget it. Let's go," I said finally.
We walk toward the current Shibuya High School building and enter the principal's offices.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Who is it?" Principal Giro ask.
"It's us. The Shibuya Psychic Researcher," Lin said, entering the office after me.
"Oh, Shibuya-san and Lin-san! How's the investigation on the old school building going on?"
"That's what I want to know from you," I said.
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"The files that you- personally give didn't match anything with the documents my assists gathered about the old school building."
"I don't know what you're talking about…"
"Principal Giro… Please don't make things any harder than it is. Mai and another student from your high school has been taken by this ghost!" I said, noticing that for the first time I'm not acting like my old self.
For a long time, Principal Giro stay silent and nervously drum the desk.
"Uh… Yes, those files were fake. I have not told the truth…" Principal Giro pause and walk toward me and Lin.
He took a quick peek outside his office and lock the door.
"Please, have a sit… It's a long story after all."
Lin and I walk to a chair and sit down. The principal slowly walk toward his chair and led back.
"It was… five years ago, if I believe so…"
~Flashback: Continue~
Inside the classroom
"Hey, Naru. How are we suppose to- you know catch this kid-ghost?" Takigawa ask.
"Matsuzaki-san, how many charms can you make in 10 minutes?" I ask.
"Hm… About 6? No, 8 at the most… but if I have an extra hands. I'm about to make 10 or more."
"You're on your own, Matsuzaki. Masako, can't help you. She's unconscious."
"About us?" Takigawa said, pointing at himself and Brown.
"No, I have a job for both of you."
"Then, can I help instead?" Mai's voice came out of nowhere.
"Mai! Your awake! Are you okay? Did anything happened will you were separated from us?" Matsuzaki said, worriedly.
"I'm fine…" she said, in a strange tone, "Uh… Is it alright?" She look at me.
I turn away and sigh.
"Get started. I need it up on every corners of the wall, window, and doors before he comes back.
"Right! Mai, come over here. I'll show you what I want you to do," Matsuzaki said, to Mai.
"Takigawa, do you think you can stop it's movement for a second or two?" I ask.
"Will do." Takigawa said, unsure, "But Naru, wouldn't he know what we're doing here?"
"Pretty much, yes," I answer.
"P-Pretty Much?! What? Then, it's no good won't it? I mean, he won't enter this classroom if he knew that it's a trap!"
"That's the point."
"Seriously, I don't understand what you're doing anymore."
"Brown, I want you to do an exorcising on the boy. Once, Takigawa stop his movement."
"Okay," Brown said.
