Lena paced back and forth as the burgers cooked . . . all in good reason, though, considering she was still stunned that she saw her twin again, not taking into account that he would be over soon, or even the fact that she would spill her guts to her brother and three complete strangers.
Her ridiculously charming, fast, memorable, and smart twin brother that she never planned on seeing again.
Lena was broken out of her thoughts by Maya and Riley, who were coming in through the window in Lena's spare bedroom, which would have been Riley's room in the Matthews' place-.
"Howdy, Ranger-Rick's-Long-Lost-Twin-Sister-That-I-Have-Not-Properly-Nicked-Yet," Maya called.
Riley nudged her best friend, saying, "Don't mind her, Lena. Her, um, personality can take some getting used to."
"It's fine. Wait, you nicknamed my brother Ranger Rick?" Lena inquired incredulously.
"Yeah, she did. And you actually got that? Most people would think 'nicked' like 'nicked a corner with my toe' nicked," said Riley.
"Well, it's a good thing I'm not most people, huh?" Lena smirked, setting the food on the table with a flourish. "And where are the boys? You know, Lucas and . . . the weird one."
"You mean Farkle?" Maya verified. When Lena nodded, she continued, "The should be here in ab-."
She was cut off by the doorbell ringing. The moment Lena opened the door, she was pulled into a hug by her much taller brother. "Hey, Angel."
"Hey, Teddy. You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be to hear why my supposedly happy twin sister ran off in the night, leaving behind a letter and papers confirming her emancipation."
"Oh, that's where I left them," Lena groaned. "Anyways, the five of us should go eat. But when I'm done with my story, I expect to hear all of yours," she said as she turned to face the group.
The words exchanged were much more surprising than anybody would have guessed.
