A little filler chapter for you guys! Lots of Danny and Charlotte fluff before the bombshell or the rest of the movie hits!

To McFlytheMusical: Look, I don't know yet, but maybe he could be Charlie. Drama is literally two chapters away! Maybe some hints at a proposal in this chapter? Channy is such a funny one! Enjoy!

To alanark: Not to sure of the importance of the John Doe, would love to hear your thoughts though! Enjoy!

To Sara (Guest): I'm so glad you love the story! My story will obviously follow along the lines of Pearl Harbor and I want it to stay as true as possible to the story as it can be. Charlie may or may not make an appearance and I'm not sure what Danny's fate will be yet! Don't apologise for the questions, however you shall need to read to have them answered!

Enjoy all!

"You gotta eat Lottie," Danny bugged me for the third time that night.

"I gotta work too baby," I told him sternly.

"Yeah, but you finished three hours ago."

"And the other nurse didn't show, so I've gotta stay until she does."

"My day off and here you are slaving away," he said motioning to the empty desk in front of me. Yes, there wasn't any paper work but I could hardly leave the patients who were still recovering from that horrible fate that they've been put through.

"Why don't you go down to the ships. They've got those fights going on, you like those don't you?" I asked him getting up off the chair walking to do the inventory on supplies for the second time today.

"Not as much as I like you," he said grabbing me from behind and swinging me around.

"Danny stop!" I squealed, "you'll wake them up." He put me down and kissed me all over. I couldn't help but giggle.

"I'm gonna get in trouble," I scolded him.

"Alright, alright," he said leaving me alone. "I'm coming back tonight and if you're not off by then, I'm complaining to someone."

"Sure you will," I said kissing him on the cheek and watching him. As he walked out I turned back to the cupboard and started counting the viles of morphine.

"Nurse," called out one of the men from down the ward. I turned around seeing John Doe try and reach for a glass of water.

"Be careful now, you'll fall outta that bed on right on your face," I joked. He was too close to getting out of his casts to go and hurt himself again. Aside from that the burning and gashes on his face had healed, leaving him with an intricate pattern of scarring.

"I just need the water," he sighed, obviously frustrated. Most of the men that had been bought in were. They could hardly do anything for themselves and always having to rely on someone would be a giant pain in the butt.

"Alright Sir, let me help you up," I told him smiling. I moved around getting a good grip on his body and helped him up, I leaned over to the water and bought it too his face. He greedily inhaled it. He must've been trying to get it for ages.

"Someone's thirsty," I smirked helping him back down.

"I had been wanting it for ages," he admitted shyly.

"Why did you say so then?" I asked him, going to get more.

"I didn't want to interrupt you and your boyfriend." I blushed.

"Nonsense, it's my job and he shouldn't have been here anyway. You're my number one priority when I'm here, not him," I said as I poured the jug of water into the cup for later.

"Just me?" he asked flirting.

"Well, I wish I could say yes, but the others might be up," I winked at him. He sighed a little and shifted in his bed. "Do you need something else?"

"Not that I'm aware of," he said softly. "Just a good girl like you."

"I'm sure when the doctors start helping you with your memory you'll remember the gorgeous girl you left at home," I said checking his vitals. He sighed again. He'd often expressed how much he wished that he was anywhere but here. It drove him to the point of madness not being able to help others like he was used too, or so he kept telling us (he was a doctor), but this memory loss made it tricky.

"What's his name?" he asked me.

"Sorry?" I asked.

"Your boyfriend, his name," he continued.

"Uh, Danny," I told him smiling.

"Well, if I was Danny I'd never forget you." I rolled my eyes, he was always trying to make a pass at me. He was a cheeky little thing.

"You're quite the charmer, maybe one of the other nurses might be available."

"Will you check for me?" he laughed.

"I'll let you know," I told him. I checked if he needed anything else and moved on to the next patient. I'd miss our John Doe when he left, he was quite the character.

"Gosh, I'm starving," I said as I walked into Danny's arms after my prolonged shift had finally finished. Apparently the nurse who was meant to take over after me, went out last night and overslept, missing his 12 o'clock start and then neglecting to show up anyway.

"Come on, let's get you something to eat."

We made our way down to the strip of shops and diners that lined the main road of Pearl Harbor. He filled me in on Gooz's new invention and told me about the fights down on the navy ships. It seems as if he survived without me today after all. We picked our favourite diner and sat down, the waitress already knowing our order smiled as we took out usual table.

"News from home?" he asked me as we waited for our milkshakes.

"A letter from Abbie last week, that's about it."

"How is her little brood?" he asked.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you! She's pregnant!" I beamed.

"What?" he asked excitedly.

"Yeah, I can't believe it slipped my mind! Lindy is pregnant too and Matt and Abs are buying a house! Everyone's growing up," I said smiling, although a hint of sadness trailed in my voice.

"I haven't even seen either of their first borns," Danny complained.

"Don't we both have a leave pass on the same week?" I asked. "Maybe we can go home?"

"We'll lose at least two or three days of travel," he told me.

"Oh come on, the army will cover the plane trip and if we travel at night, not losing that much time at all," I said persuading him. He was about to reply when our drinks came, and I knew whatever he had to say would not make me change my mind.

"Where will we stay?" he asked, sighing in defeat.

"Well since Matty is living with the McCawleys, you can stay in his room at my parents! We'll go home for a few days and then come back all refreshed and we'll get to see the babies," I said talking rapidly.

"Slow down Char," he said laughing at me.

"What? It may be a long time before I see them again. They're my family," I said, not thinking.

"Your family, exactly," he said softly.

"Oh come on Danny, they're yours too as well. Don't think that just because Rafe isn't going back too, that they won't like to see you."

"It just feels odd," he said shrugging.

"You're crazy, you know that both my mother and Rafe's look at you like a son. They were best friends with your Mum when she was still alive."

"Well, I guess we better give them a call then," he replied after a pause.

"Wait," I said realising a crucial point.

"What?" he asked, sipping his milkshake.

"They don't know about us."

"Oh." Danny sat still and thought for a while and I watched as his facial expression changed as he did so. "Not even Abbie."

"The last letter I sent was before New York and I haven't had the time to reply."

"I'll guess we'll just surprise them then," he grinned.

"Oh gosh. Maybe we shouldn't go back," I giggled.

"And miss seeing your nephews?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. I sighed and looked down at the engagement ring I still wore on my right hand. It was only a reminder that everyone was moving on with their lives whilst I was still torn between my missing fiance and first love.

"What's wrong?" Danny asked when I did reply.

"I just-I just wish I was moving on with my life like they are you know," I told him.

"But you're here, being a nurse is the navy/army/air force," he said. "You've travelled to places those girls will never go to."

"But they have families, and homes and weddings," I told him.

"Yes, but I recall that you always wanted to live your life before you started someone else's."

"That was when I didn't know what it felt like to see everyone else you love do those things."

"Charlotte, one day that'll be you," he said softly, "and you know how I know? Because I'm going to be the one that meets you at the end of the isle, I'm going to be the one that gives you your first baby and I'm the one who's going to build you a house so that we may live out the rest of our lives together."

I sat there stunned. We'd only just rekindled our relationship and here he was telling me things my teenage self would get giddy at. And as if things hadn't changed, I did get nervous and excited and a smile broke out across my face.

"You have to make sure the shutters are blue and have little flowers boxes, other wise the deal is off."

"Alright, I think I can handle that," he said smiling. The waitress then bought over our food and for the longest time that I could remember, it honestly felt like it'd always been Danny. But who was kidding, I knew it was always going to be Danny.
