If You Were A Movie This Would Be Your Soundtrack

Scene Four - Don't You Ever Forget About Me

Draco had been holding on for far too long. For so long he'd wished he'd made her stay, made her see how much they loved each other. It wasn't meant to be. That was what his mother had said to him. He knew she was just glad it was over.

Hermione's finally moving on, he's seen her in the press, she looks healthier, happier, finally. His mother was right; they weren't meant to be together. But they had taught each other so much; they were both different people than they were when their relationship started, better people.

He remembered the way her hair seemed to crackle with energy when she was angry, he remembered how her eyes lit up when she laughed, he remembered the feeling of her lips on his. And he filed this all away under the label 'never to think of again'.

He takes Astoria to Gaucho for their anniversary. He doesn't mention how he missed it when he and Hermione were together because she was a vegetarian. And when they bump into her and Ginny at a dessert café afterwards he simply smiles and greets them politely before guiding Astoria to their table. The brief smile she flashes him tells him he's done the right thing. The sick feeling in his stomach says otherwise.

The hardest thing I'll ever do is say goodbye and walk slowly away from you.
