Zak stares at the fuzzy creature cautiously. He knew that this thing did not follow him home. And he also knew that his uncles would flip if they woke up and saw this thing in their home. It still tried to grab the hand from him. The creature rivaled his speed and movements. Zak was lucky that he was able to predict most of the moves. But he wasn't ready to fight something that was able to use its feet as hands.

Zak spent most of his time blocking. He couldn't even use the grenades. After all, how would he explain how he was able to blow up his room? He tripped over one of his books on the floor landing on his butt. The creature quickly jumped pinning him down. Zak squirmed but in all honesty was scared. He felt something build up inside of him. Something new and warm and powerful. Yet familiar and cold that made him feel weak. His vision became clearer, like when he was on the Saturday's property.

He saw the creature on him; its eyes had started glowing. Just like the hand. It got off of him quickly, not bothering to grab the hand. It sat on his bed. Its eyes still glowing. Zak ran out of the room before it could do anything else. He ran into Doyle's room quickly, avoiding his planted booby traps. He grabbed a super soaker that Doyle had for one of his days off. Luckily it was loaded. Zak aimed and fired. Doyle jumped as the water hit his bed.

"What the hell was that for!" yelled Doyle flipping on the light, "Wow. Zak what happened? You look like you're ready to piss yourself."

Zak felt uncomfortable at the comment but put it aside.

"Something attacked me. In my room," he said quickly. Doyle stared at him with droopy eyes.

"I'm going back to bed."

Zak squirted him again, this time at the back of the neck. He jumped again.

"Alright. I'll kill it," he said walking out of his room and into Zak's, "Okay where is it?"

Zak ran toward his room, "its right…Their?"

The creature was gone. But the glass was still broken. Shards covered the floor.

"Good god kid, don't tell me you're sleep fighting again," said Doyle seeing the mess. Zak blushed.

"That was a one time thing!" yelled Zak in embarrassment. When he was younger, his uncles let him watch a movie with them. Only half way through the blood and gore did they realize it was a rated R movie and that he was only seven. He was too scared to sleep but when he did, he had nightmares about the movie making him sleep fight. It took his uncles two hours to restrain him. And three weeks before he no longer had nightmares.

"If you say so kid," he said walking toward the window. He looked at the glass on the floor and noticed something among it. A small bird-like foot. But he realized almost immediately what it was. After all his years working with Van Rook, it wasn't hard for him to realize it was the Hand of Tsul 'Kalu. He picked it up and Zak knew this wasn't going to end well.

"Where. In the world, did you get this?" he asked. Zak looked away for a second and then looked him in the eyes.

"From a classmate," he said. Which wasn't an entire lie.

"And who might this classmate be?"

"The new kid. Um girl. Wadi."

"And where does this Wadi live exactly?"

"In a far off country. She's an exchange student."

"Really."

Zak felt himself getting nowhere.

"She's living with a family that shares the woods with us. Suddenly Doyle got a devious look on his face.

"So that's where you going," he said evilly. Zak's face turned bright crimson.

"No! We met up by accident!"

"Sure. Accident."

Zak grabbed his pillow and threw it at his face. Since it wouldn't hurt, Doyle let it hit his face. He removed the pillow with a devilish grin.

"Aw come on mini-man, I went through the same thing when I was your age."

"Yeah, but you were traveling the world and got to go on awesome adventures and learn all kinds of cool things."

"Yeah but you'll get life long friends. And you have us," he said comforting as he walked out of the room with the hand.

"Doyle?"

"Yeah Zak?"

"I think there is something messed up about that relic."

"Why?"

"Because it opened and closed. And it glowed."

Doyle gave a grave look, "Just try and go to bed Zak. I'll talk to Van Rook about it."

Doyle left the room and looked at the hand. Tsul 'Kalu wasn't one to give this to anyone. And it was said to have a certain ability. A focuser of sorts. A power could be focused and controlled at a smoother pace. The glow. Did it have something to do with the crypitds he and Van Rook saw earlier? Or Zak's peculiar glowing eyes as he slept?

Outside

"Fiskerton! Are you all right?" said a voice.

"Esaa!" cried the furry beast.

"Doc we can retrieve the hand later. What we need to do is find Van Rook's hideout."

"All right," said the man. He and his wife went running back to their home, with Wadi trailing behind.

Wow. I must be dead to the fifth degree. Review!
