Tokyo, Japan...

A blue motorcycle called a Duel Runner was driving through the city streets. Black hair tied in a ponytail stuck out of the helmet.

'Well, might as well head back home.' The driver thought out loud. He was just about to turn into the opposite lane when a strange sensation was felt in the air.

Running through a dark tunnel elsewhere in the city was a small lizard-like creature with a horn protruding from the top of it's head and a multi-colored fur pelt on it's body.

'What did those people want from me?' The creature thought out loud as he continued down the tunnel, just wanting to find freedom.

It had managed to escape from a building that it was being confined in but had no idea where to go next.

"Commander, the area has been sealed off by the police. Every sector in the city is on alert. Sector Security has cordoned off the sky." A woman inside the building stated as alarms blared and lights flashed.

"Our target's a renegade. It must be caught immediately. Don't you agree, Sampson." A voice to the side of Sampson said to him.

"Where is the target's current location?" Sampson asked the woman currently stationed at a desk in front of him.

"Area B-7." A woman stationed at a desk answered while scanning the computer screen for the target's movement.

"Let Yoshino know immediately. Only a high-ranking DATS agent can capture a Digimon." Sampson instructed.

Several police cars passed by townspeople with a message to share.

"Attention all citizens. A gas leak has been detected in the vicinity. The authorities are attempting to remove it. Please return to your homes or seek shelter immediately." An older-looking man heard the message and was aware of what was really going on.

A fair-skinned woman with magenta hair tied in a ponytail in a green and gold uniform with a opening that exposed her breasts and a pair of diamond earrings approached the tape. She presented a ID to one of the officers.

"I'm a special agent from DATS. How's the evacuation going?" She asked the police officers. They were aware of the organization she was a part of.

"There seems to be a hold up directly to the south of here." The officer gestured to the south to the young woman. Then a new voice was heard.

"Yoshi?" Yoshi removed a rectangular device from her belt.

"Yes." She spoke to the screen on the rectangular device that she held in her hand.

"Signs of life have been detected 500 meters away." The new voice informed her.

"Is it the target?" Yoshi asked the voice. She wanted this job to end nice and quick.

"No. A human life sign." Yoshi ran past the tape that had been set up and headed to the park.

"I'll be there shortly." She sped up a bit. A few minutes later she saw a brown-haired human staring down a lizard.

"It's Lizard-1. And he's confronting a human."

"I have no idea who you are. Mind telling me what your name is?" The stranger asked.

"I'm Gabumon." Gabumon introduced himself.

"Wait. Reptile-1 is able to talk?" Yoshino questioned.

"Yoshi, he'll destroy the human." The creature inside the device explained to her startled partner.

"Yoshino." A voice spoke through her com link. "Get that civilian from Lizard-1 before it's too late."

"This cannot be allowed to escalate any further." The voice beside Sampson spoke again.

"I know." He answered back in a mellow tone. Back at the park Yoshi decided to follow the order to the best of her ability.

"Hey, you. Get away from that creature. It's dangerous!" She shouted out to the young man, knowing the risk associated with encountering Digimon.

"Who are you?" The human shot back to her.

"We'll get back to you in a minute, ma'am." Gabumon politely said to Yoshi.

"I wasn't expecting Lizard-1 to be this polite to me." Yoshi was surprised the target was this nice to her. It was really sweet to be honest.

The two spent nearly a half hour staring at each other without moving a muscle on the observation deck.

"Hold it right there!" A voice called out to the pair causing them to face Yoshi.

"Oh yeah. We need to resolve the situation with her." Gabumon sweat dropped. He remembered that she was still nearby and waiting to send him back to the Digital World.

She removed a rectangular device strapped onto her belt and stated, "Lalamon, realize."

In an instant a pink/green seed creature with stubby hands appeared before the pair.

"What the heck is that?!" The human exclaimed in shock upon seeing the pink/green seed creature.

"So, are you two going to come quietly or will I have to use force?" She offered.

"Why? I have no idea what's going on here." The human admitted. This whole situation was very confusing.

"In that case let me fill you in. I'm Yoshino Fujieda, a member of the Digimon Data Squad." Yoshi quickly introduced herself.

"Digimon Data Squad? Never heard of it." I avert my eyes to avoid staring at her exposed breasts. After all, he was still a teenage boy and wanted to be respectful towards her.

"Thanks for not staring at my chest."

"Well, you will in a minute. DATS was established for the purpose of preventing Digimon from appearing in the real world and frightening the general public." The group's goal was quickly explained.

"What does that have to do with me?" The teen asked the young woman.

"That Digimon you were staring down on the observatory earlier. I need to capture it. Do you have any idea what would happen if the public found out about Digimon?" Yoshi questioned in a serious tone.

"I'm sure there's a deal we can make?" Nick negotiated.

"Join the Digimon Data Squad. That's the only way for Gabumon to stay here." She informed the teenage boy.

"You drive a hard bargain. Where is your base located?" I ask after the ultimatum that I receive.

"Thank you for cooperating." She said, proceeding to walk back to her car. I hop on my Duel Runner and we both drive off. I wasn't entirely sure that they would stop hunting Gabumon.

"Nice." I muttered after following Yoshi into a room in a skyscraper with a lot of high-tech equipment.

"Fujieda reporting back." She saluted a tall man standing behind a desk.

"Hello. I'm Nick Parker." Nick respectfully bowed to the man.

"My name is Commander Sampson. The DATS team welcomes you."

"What does DATS mean anyway?" Nick asked Commander Sampson. He heard the name Digimon Data Squad, so the abbreviated name threw him for a loop.

"So you're the one who engaged Lizard-1 in a staring contest earlier." A strange white creature around Sampson's neck spoke causing Nick to look at him in wonder.

"Whoa, talking scarf." Nick gasped. The creature in question was a little annoyed, but a gentle finger rubbing his head calmed him down.

"That "scarf" is my Digimon partner Kudamon." Sampson informed Nick that it was his Digimon partner.

"Each member of DATS has their own Digimon partner. You've already met mine Lalamon." Yoshi held Lalamon in her arms.

"Partners?" Nick looked around and saw a black chess piece aiding a woman with purple hair. Not far away a white chess piece helped a woman with blonde hair and then there was a turtle handing out tea.

"That's right. Here at DATS tamed Digimon and their human partners work together to deal with Digimon that commit crimes." Yoshi explained as the turtle handed Nick a cup of tea.

"Thanks." Nick took the tea cup.

"Enjoy." The turtle said before walking away from the teen.

"I will." Nick replied back and started sipping the tea.

"Right now we are in the middle of a unprecedented crisis. The barrier separating the human world and the digital world is starting to collapse. We don't know the reason for this, but Digimon are appearing in the human world more frequently than ever before." Kudamon continued where Sampson left off.

"Our primary objective is to maintain harmony between the Human World and the Digital World therefore renegades like Lizard-1 must be kept under control." Kudamon informed him.

"Since when is Gabumon a renegade?" Nick asked the two.

"Because Lizard-1 has already appeared in the real world and interacted with a human. Therefore, he is no longer allowed to go free." Kudamon explained the issue to Nick.

"Please cooperate. The future relationship between humans and Digimon depends on you returning Lizard-1 to us." Sampson stated, hoping Nick would comply with his request now that the situation was explained.

"I have a better idea in mind. Allow me to join DATS, that way I won't be separated from Gabumon." Nick pleaded with Sampson.

"Huh?" Yoshi blinked, confused by what he was requesting. It's not very often that someone pleaded to join DATS, so this is a welcome surprise compared to trying to escape.

"If Gabumon is going to stay here in the real world, the best way for that to happen is for me to become a member of this organization." Nick elaborated.

As the proposal to join was being taken into consideration, alarms inside the room went off.

"Commander, a Digimon has been detected in area D-59. A hamburger stand is being attacked by a unknown creature." The purple-haired woman informed them and brought up the image of a burning building.

"I would say it's Lizard-1, but he's in the room with us." Yoshi said out loud.

"Is there a database on Digimon here?" Nick questioned out loud.

"Why do you ask?" Sampson responded. He was curious to know what the teen was going to try.

"There should be information on whatever is attacking that section of the city." He reasoned. Nick then checked the room he was in and locked eyes with a computer. He spun a chair around and sat down.

"Let's see what I can uncover." Nick turned the computer screen on.

"Hold on a second." The blonde-haired woman called out. "What are you intending to do with our computer system?"

"The identity of the Digimon going on a rampage needs to be uncovered. I'm checking your database for a lead to what it is." Nick replied to the blonde-haired woman.

He began typing away on the computer keyboard and eventually got a hit on the database.

"Got it." The image of a Digimon appeared on the computer screen in front of him. "I'm transferring the image to one of your computers."

"It's Kokatorimon. A Champion level Digimon whose Petra Fire attack petrifies it's target." The purple-haired woman exclaimed after receiving the data.

"So Kokatorimon's the one who destroyed the hamburger stand. It needs to be dealt with immediately." Commander Sampson stated. Kokatorimon kicked a car into a tower.

"With the current situation, I hereby approve your proposal to join. Yoshi will help you get a Digivice iC and a uniform." Commander Sampson shot a look at the two.

"Roger." Yoshi nodded.

The uniforms were stored in a closet down the hall. A crimson red one caught Nick's eye.

"I like this one." He took the uniform out and put it on. The uniform fit nicely on his body.

Yoshi then extended a Digivice iC with a brown face plate, red screen, orange body, orange buttons and a gold ring to him.

"Time for you to get used to what DATS does on a daily basis." Yoshi ran out with Nick close behind her.

Yoshi and Nick got to D-59 as Kokatorimon let out a angry caw when they entered the area.

"What do you say to us taking Kokatorimon down a notch?" Yoshi asked, looking at Nick.

"Just what I wanted to hear." Nick smirked. He was going to prove that he deserved to be a member of DATS.

"Follow my lead." She instructed the new recruit, knowing exactly what to do in this situation.

"D.N.A Charge!" Yoshi shouted and slammed glowing pink energy down onto her Digivice iC.

"Lalamon digivolve to..." Lalamon changed into a sunflower with arms, legs and a tail. "Sunflowmon!"

"Okay. Let me give it a try. D.N.A Charge!" He held his custom Digivice iC up and channeled crimson red energy into it.

'Crimson red. That's a unique D.N.A Charge.' Yoshi thought after seeing the D.N.A Charge Nick could generate. 'What other secrets do you have?'

"Gabumon digivolve to..." Gabumon changed into a orange T-Rex with a brown beetle-like helmet on it's head. "Greymon!"

"You ready, Greymon?" Sunflowmon asked her fellow champion level Digimon.

"Yeah." Greymon retorted confidently to the sunflower Digimon.

"Sunshine Beam!" Sunflowmon fired rays of light from all her petals on her head.

"Fire Horn!" Greymon's horn was enveloped in orange flames. He then rushed Kokatorimon and impaled him with the flaming horn.

Both attacks ended up forcing Kokatorimon to scream in pain and revert back into a Digi-Egg.

"Digimon life signs have disappeared." The purple-haired woman informed Commander Sampson.

"They did it!" The blond-haired woman cheered over their victory against Kokatorimon from her station.

'I think this is the beginning of a great partnership.' Nick thought as the four celebrated their victory over Kokatorimon.
