After waking up and getting out of Tony's taxi, he was eager to get over the hill and into his mountain home. To put the dream behind him. As he came to the top of the hill he saw a bright light. He smiled. His bright warm inviting home. When he realized what it was he fell to his knees. It was burning. Red wicked flames clashed with the snowy mountain backdrop as the sun began to rise. He stared into the cruel flames.

He felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up to see Abbey.

"He's not dead," she said. Zak stared at her.

"What?"

"Van Rook's not in there. He was taken into custody by the Secret Scientists. This is all that's left of you…our home."

Zak noticed she wasn't appreciative of their home going up in flames.

"What happened?" asked Zak. Tony ran up the hill and came to an abrupt stop.

"Holy mother of Jesus!" he yelled. He grabbed Zak hiding his face from the flames, "Back to the taxi," he looked at Abbey, "You too."

She didn't argue as he carried Zak to the taxi. Like a mother, father and child escaping death. But Tony was an uncle. And Van Rook was dad. Abbey wasn't really motherly either. So illusion terminated.

Zak was put in the seat behind the passenger. A lone tear fell from his cheek.

"What about the cryptids? Did they…?" he choked. Wide puppy eyes looked at Abbey.

"They were taken by the scientists. The place was emptied," she comforted. It wasn't the whole truth. Most were found and released. The others… their screams would fill anyone's head with nightmares. The Waheela was especially bad. She was almost yelling at herself she was going soft.

Tony made the taxi take off in the air again. Zak watched as the wicked flames took out one of the places he called home. He closed his eyes.

Humans. This is all their fault.

Zak didn't argue. Humanity was a mess. Why wouldn't this be their fault? They who took his Dad. And Doyle. They who ripped his life to shreds.

They aren't needed.

People had destroyed so much of the world. He had heard cryptids cry out in pain when a person found them.

They should all disappear.

A world of only the most natural.

You can do it.

Zak thought of his training. His weapon knowledge.

You are meant to rule in death.

Death was normal. It was an inevitable part of everything's existence.

Kill them…

Zak cringed a bit. He wasn't a killer. And another thing, he was human. How could he forget that?

Fuck off voice. What do you know?

Zak's face felt warm. Did he just tell himself to basically go to hell? That sounded pretty accurate. If he was alone he would be beating his head on something hard. But with Abbey and Tony in the car, a fire behind them and no clue of what the future was going to hold, he decided to speak. The silence in the car was becoming unbearably thick. Like when Van Rook got a small cake for Zak's birthday and Doyle (to make it look bigger) coated it with layer after layer of icing. Not that it wasn't funny or delicious but it was just a little too thick for liking.

"So, where is Van Rook?" asked Zak.

"He is… He's with Doctor Miranda Grey," said Abbey after she realized the silence had been broken. Tony gave her a quick glance. One with slight concern. Zak didn't know exactly who this Miranda chick was, but obviously it was more than the whole 'Secret-Scientist-that-has-kidnapped-your-teacher' kind of thing.

"So I guess a visit is out of the question," he joked.

"Yes," said Abbey. Zak looked out the window again.

"Where are we going?"

"My place," said Tony.

Short but I've been updating a lot lately. Review for a cashew!
