One. I'm not done till I leave a message saying I'm done. So get off my back. I have midterms. Enjoy!

Tony walked Zak inside his home quietly Abbey followed.

"Where do we sleep?" Abbey asked. He had said they could stay but that didn't mean she would drop off being polite.

"I have a spare bedroom upstairs and an extra bed in my room. Zak," he began looking him in the eye, "Do you want to stay in my room?"

Abbey wasn't sure whether or not she was surprised at how Tony was acting. On one hand, Zak was raised to be a mercenary and Tony was an ally of Van Rook and herself, but then again after Zak saw the fire…

"You… I don't want…," Zak mumbled. He was a ghost of the child she had sold to Argost. And Argost wasn't even the one who had made him like this. It was the wicked burning of flames that danced inside the place he had started to call home. A place where he had begun to understand his powers that were most likely from hell itself.

"I understand," said Tony picking Zak up, "I'll take White Star here to his room. You'll find everything you need upstairs Abbey."

He walked into his bedroom and placed Zak on the vacant bed. He had always wanted Zak to visit. He liked the kid. He was a ray of sunshine in a place like Gotham in the movies. He was a rare light that seemed to make anything and everything glow in the dark. He had a gift. He watched as Zak immediately drifted off to sleep. He was tired so it was no surprise. But he knew that he would have to help him if he showed any signs of having nightmares. He heard the water upstairs turn on. He sighed unaware of what was yet to come.

Rani Naga

"He escaped!" hissed Rani Naga in raged.

"Calm down Rani Naga," Argost began, "You don't think I was not prepared for such an event. You want the child and I have the location. Give me the locator and I shall tell you where the boy is."

She was not happy with the trade. But she had information Argost did not. He was the one who had told her of the boy's powers. They were indeed Kur's powers. The light was the same as the dark magic that the Nagas had used for centuries before, during and even after Kur's initial time on earth. The child was without a doubt the reincarnation of their leader Kur. The powerful and mighty king of Cryptids.

"Fine," She hissed. In one hand was the relic. It greatly resembled a demonic bird head with its wide eyes and bright yellow color. It would glow when it was in the presence of the king. Argost only thought the boy was a human with a gift. She knew he wanted to use him so he would be king. But she would not allow the great and powerful Kur be controlled by a mere human in a mask.

"He is in America. In Rhode Island," Argost smiled. Or at least what looked like a smile under the mask. Rani Naga slithered out of the room. Telepathically, she alerted her troops. They would get their king. They would get him tonight. There was no time to waste.

Zak

He didn't remember falling asleep. But he thought he was. No, he knew. The sky wasn't a deep blood red. And the hissing of snakes surrounding him couldn't be real.

"I hate dreams. Why can't they be anything good?" he asked aloud. The snakes were not in sight. He was alone on a platform. He felt a large amount of untapped energy burning inside him. Like he was a can of pop waiting to be opened. He wasn't afraid. He was more cold and lonely since he saw his home burn. Everything he once held close seemed to now go up in flames. Literally and figuratively. Family was falling apart and one of two homes no longer existed, and the fire felt like it was continuing to grow.

Burning by candle light. First flame was Doyle. Then was lit for Abbey. Van Rook's flame is growing weaker. One flame for the hearth was blown out. What next? Would then all burn out leaving him the lone candle in the wind? In a way it was perfect. He would be the perfect merciless mercenary that he had trained to become all his life. In another way it was a disaster. He would lose the only pieces of himself that made him feel human. Lately he had just felt like a monster. The hissing grew louder. He put his hands to his ears. He heard a scream.

His eyes flew open.

"Get out of here Zak!" yelled Tony. Zak was frozen stiff. Glass shattered on the floor. Tony had blood dripping from his shoulder as a result of a nasty gash that left his skin mangled. And a Naga that had slithered its way into the room. Tony threw a lamp at the Naga's head.

"Now Zak!" he yelled. Zak hit the floor running as fast as he could. He ran up the stairs to get Abbey.

"Abs! Tony is…"

"Run!" she yelled. Zak only saw a glimpse of the black hair as he saw another Naga. His eyes were wide and scared. He bolted down the stairs and ran outside. He barely registered the Nagas outside as he ran into the suburban area of town. He knew Nagas would not hesitate to come to a populated area. His body felt colder. Like one of the flames in his heart had gone out.

Abbey

She looked at the bloodied up Naga that lay at her feet. She had killed it with her own two hands. She quietly made her way down the stairs to help Tony. A gun well loaded in her hand. She turned the corner into Tony's room. She saw the body of a Naga in Tony's room. Without hesitating she shot. The body fell to the floor with a sickening splat. She walked over to confirm it was dead. The Naga was without a doubt dead. But so was Tony. His bloody body mangled on the floor obviously have dying a brutal death by the hands of the Naga warrior she had killed.

She didn't know how they knew where they were. But she could guess why. She had sold Zak to Argost. They were here to get Zak. By any means necessary.

Character death… Poor Tony. I am not giving up on this story. Please review!
