Chapter 6 A NEW POWER
"Herbology with the Hufflepuffs and care of magical creatures with the Slytherins," Says Ron sadly. "Then double Divination." He says as Harry repetitively hits his heat on the table.
-TIME SKIP-
We were walking down to our Care of Magical Creatures class and I could hear Malfoy talking to his 'friends', but I tuned out because I didn't want to know what he was talking about.
When Harry, Ron, Hermione and I finally arrived outside Hagrid's hut, I heard a branch snap and my head flung around towards the forest, what I saw amazed me and I droped my defences straight away so I don't scare the magnificent creature three meters away from me.
The strong animal was at least a foot taller than me and a million times heavier. It would have no problem with trampeling me if I made a wrong move, so I just didn't move at all, instead I just looked at it. It was the first 'magical' creature I'd seen besides Fawks in Dumbledore's office, and that was a long, time ago.
It had the front half of a strong eagle and the back half of a horse, it' inteligent eyes were locked ont mine and it's massive claws that could rip me to shreads in a second were pounding on the ground.
It was flapping it's wings around like Gazzy did when he was little when he wanted to look bigger and more thretening. It was then I remembered that Gazzy only used to do that when he was scared, so I quickly loosened up and put a smile on my face so that it wouldn't feel so nervous around me.
When Harry, Ron and Hermione realised that I had stopped, they all turned around and gasped at the fact that I was only a few meters away from the hippogriff. I could vaguely hear yelling from behind me but I ignored it. I slowly stretched out my hand so that I wouldn't scare the creature any more than it already was.
It looked at me and sniffed the air, it must have smelt the bird on me because it snorted and walked forward a meter or two, but it was still a little hesitant to come any closer to my hand.
"Hey, big fella," I said sweetly trying to get it more comfortable with me being there. "You're alright, I won't hurt you." He snorted again and took a few more steps towards me. The yelling from Harry, Ron and Hermione got louder as the hippofriff came closer.
Its sharp beak was a few inches away from my hand and I realised yet another way it could possibly kill me. I shrugged it off and looked into his big, black eyes. A second later, his deadly beak was nusseling into my hand affectionatly. I let out a sigh of relif and started laughing quietly.
"Max! I see you've met Greythen, he's only five years old he is." Said Hagrid loudly.
He walked towards us but stopped to give Greythen a bow., when the hippofriff bowed back, Hagrid stepped closer and patted me on the shoulder.
"How did you know how to approach him Max?" He asked odviously impressed with me.
"That's bloody amazing." Muttered Ron after I didn't reply to Hagrid's question. "Last time someone didn't bow to a hippogriff they were sent to the hospital wing."
"She has a way with the creatures, Max does." Said Hagrid proudly as he patted me on the shoulder again. "Wait here class, I'm gonna go grab some ferrets for him to eat." Hagrid said hapily as he walked around behind his hut, this left the entire class with nothing to do but stare at me.
