The first thing I realised as I entered the operating room was the stark lack of equipment. Sure, there was an operating bed, and a table on the side containing the operating tools, but take that away and there'd be nothing left but four intensely white walls, bringing closure to seemingly infinitesimal space.

Could they do anything to make this more terrifying?

The operation itself was frightening enough. I was going to be transformed into a cyber-man; a procedure that was both dangerous and irreversible.

...but I could not allow fear to consume me...

I hopped onto the operating bed and lay down.

"Just relax, the operation will be over soon." The doctor hummed, obviously tired of the platitude.

I closed my eyes and let the drugs seep into my shell, until my body numbed. I felt as if my insides were becoming all soft and fluffy (a strange feeling for such a masculine creature as a Dalek, but I kinda enjoyed it). After a few moments of experiencing this sensation, I drifted away and fell into a state of blissful semi-death.

I woke up an infinity later and looked around. My eyesight hadn't changed much. I observed the operating room with the same clarity as I had before, only this time there was something missing. I pondered on it for a while and finally, it hit me: the surgeon was missing.

"Hello, Doctor Jones?" I called.

But their was no reply.

I took a deep breath and called again, but I was met with the same dreaded silence. Just then, I heard a scream resonate from the waiting room and was shocked into paralysis.

"Oh, crap!" I thought.

I realised that this was probably the drug's doing. I tried my best to move my limbs, but to no avail; they were still in the same stubborn state. I continued to fight my paralysis, but nothing changed. I heard footsteps make their way towards the door and fought even harder.

"Why does this have to happen now?" I queried, to God knows who.

Just then, an electric feeling rushed towards my leg.

"Yes!" I exclaimed.

The sensation spread towards my torso and made its way to my arms, until it finally reached my head. There was no time for stretching. I arose from the bed, ran towards the window and jumped out. Once free, I heard the door creak open and a sinister grunt accompany it. I fled for my home before I could see who it was.
