Chapter 19
The loss of control, the eruption of such a large mass of trees could only mean that Yamato was no more…Orochimaru had won.
Kakashi and his squad reached the sight of explosion to be met with destruction on a scale that they hadn't seen since the war, bringing back memories and opening wounds they all thought had healed. The squad trembled as the dust settled around them. They tried to take in the devastation all at once failing miserably.
Kakashi exposed sharingan and gasped at what it revealed. It would be nothing but a wasteland had it not consisted of roots and branches intertwined and entangled leading to an eruption of green on magnitude that was in-comprehendible. The cavern from which the mass of trees had erupted was a depth that even with his mangekyo activated he couldn't fathom. The canopy reached into the skies where the top was hidden amongst the clouds. "Yamato" he gasped out knowing but not believing that his lover would be found unscathed but he couldn't help but call his name out in vain. "Yamato!" he shouted looking desperately at the ruins hoping to catch a whisper of his lover's voice. "Yamato" he shouted again as he ran frantically heading towards the source of the cavern and sliding down the dirt only to find his way blocked by the mud, roots and branches of the trees that had erupted.
Kakashi gathered chakra in his right hand forming the electrifying Chidori as he set to cutting away the obstruction wildly. His vision was currently marred with anger and desperation, as he swung the Chidori violently clearing his path travelling further and further into the cavern the sun light soon diminishing to shadows and then darkness at a depth where the suns ray wouldn't reach.

Raidou reached the site of destruction shortly after with his squad and gulped at what he saw. "Report" he shouted to which an ANBU appeared from where he was hidden on stake out. "Sir" the ANBU replied dropping down in front of Raidou. "No sight of the enemy sir. Kakashi San…Sir Kakashi San took off down towards the Cavern calling Yamato's name 15 minutes ago and hasn't appeared. I sent Boar to follow him and the last report I got said Kakashi San had released the mangekyo sharingan in addition to Chidori to cut the obstructions in his path. From what I can gather, Kakashi San isn't in the right frame of mind and the cavern well… currently there at a depth where radio signal is impossible sir and if they go down any further oxygen may be limited too".
Raidou sighed "Kakashi Baka" he mumbled before thinking of a strategy. They had to secure the area but he also had to go after Kakashi as in his current state of fearing the worse for Yamato Kakashi would do anything to get him back. Even if it meant risking his life and he couldn't let his long-time friend and the future Konoha Hokage do that. Their future rested on the copy ninja's shoulder.

Boar raced down the cavern following the path of destruction left by Kakashi in his wake. The copy ninja had a 5 minute head start on him as the squad had come up with a quick plan, but Boar had yet to set eyes on him and only knew of his presence from the obliteration of roots and branches and the occasional crackling sound of what he assumed was the Chidori. On a normal mission Boar struggled to keep up with the former AMBU captain and now in his fury it was merely impossible. He too feared for the well-being of Yamato, the young ANBU he had watched blossom but he was too experienced to hope for anything. As Boar descended further and further into the cavern not only was darkness engulfing him but his breathing was becoming heavier and more laboured as the air around him turned heavy, cold and damp. Although Boar had seen many a war and powerful Shinobi in his time, this was still new even for him and he was astonished at the sheer power Yamato had hidden. He knew it was wrong but he hoped, against all hope that whatever this was; was the end of Orochimaru.
