Klaus was leaving the grill when he heard the voice he had become so familiar with over the past few weeks, Caroline.

"Tyler, why are you making such a big deal out of this?"

"Why did you keep it Care? What does it mean to you?"

Klaus stayed in the shadows as he listened to their heated conversation, Tyler was obviously angry with Caroline and Klaus was ready to step in if he needed to, he was already holding himself back due to the way the mutt was speaking to her, he didn't deserve her,

Caroline sighed and replied sounded defeated, "Ty, it means nothing to me, it's just a drawing, do we have to keep talking about this?"

"Then burn it"

"What?"

"If the drawing means nothing to you then burn it, why have you kept it?"

"Would we even be having this argument if Matt had drawn it for me? No, you're only jealous because it was Klaus"

Hearing his name pass her lips Klaus smirked, they were arguing about him, about the drawing he had made for Caroline, she kept it, he couldn't help the smile that formed knowing he was coming between the couple, knowing that she still had his drawing, Tyler was right, it must mean something.

Klaus was so involved in trying to work out what Caroline thought of him he almost missed that she had got up and was walking away from her current boyfriend, he smirked and began to walk after her, he never was one for missing an opportunity.

"Evening, love" he called form a few steps behind her, he heard her sigh as she replied,

"Go away Klaus"

"Was that a lovers spat I heard just now?" he said as he caught up with her, keeping at her quickened pace easily,

"That's none of your business"

"Ah but I did hear my name, which makes it my business"

Caroline ignored his last comment and carried on walking, Klaus carried on talking,

"So you kept my drawing"

Caroline came to a complete stop facing Klaus, he looked down at her and when their eyes met she said,

"Yeah, I kept the drawing, I like it and I shouldn't have to burn it because of who drew it, although that does not mean there is anything between us, so please, just leave me alone"

Klaus saw an emotion flick across her beautiful face, sadness maybe? When she said there was nothing between them, which caused him to think she was lying but she covered it quickly so he couldn't be sure, he studied her without replying before she turned and carried on walking leaving him stood alone, when she was further down the road he replied,

"I'll never leave you alone sweetheart, one day you will knock on my door"

Caroline didn't reply, simple carried on walking.

Later that night after a few hours of him replaying his and Caroline conversation Klaus growled to himself thinking how this girl was going to be the end of him, she wasn't even his yet and still he was driving himself mad replaying their moments together, he wasn't supposed to feel at all let alone for some baby vampire, he threw his glass against the wall causing it to smash and shatter into tiny pieces all over the room before leaving his mansion heading straight for Caroline's house, he was going to settle this, he would make her admit she felt something for him, she couldn't deny it, he would compel it out of her if he had to.

When he reached her house it was in darkness, only her car was on the front driveway so he knew the sheriff was working, he let himself into her house and silently made his way to her bedroom, her door was slightly open and he pushed quietly opening it fully, Caroline was asleep in her bed, her hair was splayed out in all directions and her mouth was slightly open and she looked so peaceful, Klaus sighed and sat down in her desk chair watching her as she slept, she looked like an angel, suddenly in that moment Klaus' anger disappeared and he knew he would not compel the girl, he would leave her to realize her feelings on her own, he was a patient man if he had to be so he could wait.

Klaus looked at her desk and saw the drawing he had made for her, he picked it up looking at it before placing it back down, he looked around the rest of her desk finding school books and study notes before finding a small green notebook with musical notes drawn on the cover, his curiosity was peaked so he picked it up opening it slowly, there was Caroline's writing on the first page, it was messy with a lot of crossed out sentences, he flicked through more of the book realizing it was a book of songs she had wrote, each page had a song title at the top and lyrics flowing down the page, he read a few and smiled realizing just how talented she was, he never knew she had this hobby, he closed the book and returned it to its place thinking about all the lyrics he had read, they were her deep feelings, about her friends and her relationship troubles with the mutt, this was her release, just like art was for him.

He stood up and walked over to Caroline; gently stroking down her cheek hoping one day she would write a song for him.
