Torn
"Caleb?" Sam's voice whispered across the room. Caleb turns to see Sam with fear in her eyes. "Yes sweetheart?" he answers back. She stands in the doorway with her arms hugging her body, trying to feel safe. Caleb walks over to her and puts out his hand. Sam hesitates but places her hand in his. Caleb slowly leads her over to the sofa and sits down beside her.
"I'm scared" she says. Caleb looks into her eyes and strokes her long dark hair. "Why are you scared" he asks back? Sam wonders for a moment then answers. "Because I know who I am…"
Caleb stares waiting for her to explain. "I know that I am Sam Morgan… but I have memories that I don't remember. I have memories that I don't know how to explain…" She freezes again. "These memories… They're familiar, but at the same time… It's all just…"
Sam begins to pull away. "I know it's all overwhelming" he says. A tear runs down Sam's cheek. "Caleb….. Please just let me go. Please just let me and John go home." Caleb looks at Sam adoringly. "You know I would never force you to stay." "So you'll let me go?"
Caleb smiles at her and stands up. "You can leave…" He walks over to the table and pours a glass of wine. "But of course that means you would be breaking our deal, and giving me no choice but to eliminate John." He sips his drink and looks back at Sam. "But by all means."
Sam looks away from him and stays sitting. Caleb sets his drink down and walks back over to Sam. He kneels down next to her. "You have to know that I'm only doing this… because of my love for you." Caleb runs his fingers through Sam's hair. "You mind say one thing… but your heart wants another."
She looks back at him. "I never want you to feel frightened or lonely…" Caleb and Sam's eyes lock. "I want you to feel safe…warm…"
Caleb begins to lean in closer and closer to Sam. "Listen to your heart Olivia." Sam closes her eyes as Caleb's lips touch hers. Sam's heart begins racing again. Flashes of memories come flooding into to Sam's head. One after another, flashes of images, words, and people force its way through, but only one remains in focus. Caleb's lips release from hers. His eyes still locked. Her body didn't move and she didn't blink.
"Livvie?" he asks. She doesn't answer. "Livvie look at me." Caleb grabs hold of her shoulders.
"Olivia!" he shouts.
She blinks and thaws out. She looks around, but quickly returns her attention.
"Caleb?" she says smiling. His hand strokes her face and begins to observe. "Olivia?" "My love. I knew you'd find me." A tear runs down Caleb's smiling face as he embraces his true love. "You know I would go to the ends of the earth and back to find you." Olivia pulls back and looks at Caleb with love. "Please promise me you'll never leave me again."
"Never again" he says. "I'll never leave your side… eternity is ours."
