Chapter 7: I'm in over my head

Six months after ch.6
Buck's pov

I can't believe I'm in here. I can't decide if she'll like the small diamond or the heart shaped diamond.

"Hello sir. Anything I can help you with?"

I looked up and I saw a flamboyant young man.

"Yes. I'm looking for a ring for my girl. You guys carry anything that can fit a shy, cute, and big hearted girl?"

The young man tapped his chin and pointed at the air.

"Yes. We have just the thing."

He pulled an emerald embedded ring with a ruby on top.

"Perfect. How much?"

"900 flat. Is she worth the money?"

I looked at him and stared in his eyes.

"Yes. She is worth everything."

"Good."

At Buck's house

Shelby was sitting on the porch looking at nothing. She was feeling for the baby.

'Why won't you do something?'

She felt around and after a while she got a bit worried. She called Buck to see where he was.

She was about to dial the number until the door opened and Buck walked in.

"Bucky. The baby...he won't kick, punch or move...I'm scared I lost it..."

Buck got down on a knee and ouch his ear to my belly. He started whispering.

"Come little one...give daddy a kick...ah!"

I felt the baby kick and Buck smiled.

"Well he's strong."

I put my hands on my belly and I smile.

"What a scare."

I smiled gently to Shelby. She smiled back.

"Shelby...you've never hurt me and nor I you...we have a child on the way and...well..."

I take the small box out of my pocket and I show her a heart shaped diamond ring.

"Will you marry me?"

I look into her eyes and she is shocked.

"...I understand if you won't bu..."

She jumped or more like threw her arms around my neck and cried.

"Yes...I'll marry you..."

I hug her back and I stand up slowly and she does the same.

'I am way in over my head...'
