AU: Hey I am truly sorry for the wait on updates. I have been without internet and my computer was broken. I was able to save my story on my husbands but as it is difficult for two writers to use one computer I'm afraid that updates will come in bunches and slowly. To make up for the wait a little I am posting multiple chapters (6-9) I hope my faithful readers will forgive me and continue to follow my story. Thanks to all of you for staying with me over this. I LOVE YOU ALL! :)-
===============================================Chapter 6====================================================
The morning after their crazy dream land experience saw three different owls appearing at breakfast. One each from Neville, Luna and Hannah; they all said he same thing. "Did you guys have a weird dream last night?" Harry looked at his friends and nodded towards the back door. When they had arrived around a large tree in the backyard Harry smiled.
"Well that was easy, wasn't it? We needed to find out who the heirs were and we dreamed about it. So what is our next step?" Harry looked to Hermione who gave him a playful glare and a swat on the shoulder. When the blow hit, Harry feigned being severely injured. Now Hermione's glare became real.
"You will stop that this instance Lord Slytherin or you will find out why Hufflepuff's have a badger as their mascot." Ginny said with a strange glare at Harry. Harry instantly stopped, while Hermione nodded her head and Ron made whip crack sounds behind his hands.
Harry glared at Ron but before the boys could get into any mischief Hermione went back to what Harry had said earlier.
"Look now that we know who the heirs are, I think that we should figure out when and how to tell the teachers of Hogwarts about us." She pulled out a large scroll of blank parchment and an Everlasting Ink quill. She then looked towards the other three with her quill posed to take notes.
Ron shrugged his shoulders, while Ginny was staring at Harry. Harry was staring at the ground; he had a thought but was unsure how they would take it. He looked up and his eyes met Ginny's, she nodded her head and Harry drew in a deep breath.
"Well what about a making the teachers figure it out?"
Hermione and Ron were staring at him and Ginny was smiling. Ginny was the first one to break the silence that had followed Harry's comment.
"It makes sense; I mean Ron is the only heir in the right house. The others are going to be having kittens trying to figure out who the heirs are."
Harry was happy that she had stepped in but he had another reason for making them figure it out.
"Look guys, you three all have a decent relationship with the heads of your houses. I on the other hand have to deal with Snape. If I make him figure out that I am the heir of Slytherin then he might accept it better than if I just told him. I mean he already thinks I am an arrogant attention seeker. If I came right out and said 'Oh by the way professor Snape, I am the rightful heir of Slytherin', how do you think he will react to that?"
The others all thought for a second but Ron was the first one to grimace.
"Mate I understand, but how are we going to help them figure it out?"
Hermione stared at her parchment for some time in the silence when she suddenly snapped her fingers making the others all jump.
"Harry do you remember Snape's protection for the stone in first year?"
Harry thought for a second. "Yeah it was a logic puzzle. What are you getting at Hermione?"
She smiled "We send the professor's logic puzzles with clues as to our identities. That way when they think they have got it. We can make them come to us. They will have to guess and them we can tell them yes or no."
Ron could see a problem already. "That's all fine and dandy Hermione. However you are forgetting something. If a teacher believes that the heir is someone else, than that student might tell the teacher yes." When Hermione looked confused for a second he elaborated. "Hermione if the clues that we put down for Harry make Snape thinks it's someone like Malfoy. Malfoy could tell Snape that he is indeed the heir. Then Harry will have to work extra hard to prove that he is the heir."
Hermione got a far off look on her face "Then we make them ask questions. For example I could put down 'Bravery or knowledge' Then if someone tries to say that they are the heir of Ravenclaw then professor Flitwick would have to ask them what that means. If they can't answer then professor Flitwick knows that the person is lying."
Hermione then tore her parchment into four equal pieces. "Now we each need to think up a logic puzzle that will help the teachers figure out who we are. We can't make the clues to easy and we have to make sure that it would be something that only we could answer."
The four spent the rest of the morning leaning over parchment with quills in hand. By the time that lunch had rolled around Hermione was the only one done. Ron thought that he was done too. That is until Hermione read his and then proceeded to hit Ron over the top of the head.
"You dolt! You cannot make every single clue about food or Quidditch." She had sighed loudly. "After lunch I will help you get it right."
Molly watched the four children walk in with ink splattered all over their faces and hands. "Well at least you were doing your homework. Now go wash all the ink off of you so that you can eat without dying your food as well."
None of them had realized how hungry they were until they sat down for lunch. This fact shocked Ron as he was normally always aware of when it was time to eat. After they had finished eating Harry offered to help Molly in the cleanup.
"Oh no dear. You go run along and have fun. I appreciate the offer though."
Harry shrugged and the four teens went upstairs to Ron's room to finish off there 'little projects'. Harry was just about finished with his when he looked up and had to stuff his fist in his mouth to stop him from laughing. Ron was staring at Hermione with a look of complete confusion and Hermione was trying to explain something about his puzzle. Harry nudged Ginny in the ribs and pointed towards her brother and Hermione. Now it was her turn to try and keep from laughing. The only problem was that she wasn't as good at that as Harry. After only three seconds she let loose, falling over onto her back as her laughter filled the room. This caused Harry to lose his battle as well and was soon doubled over laughing with Ginny. Ron and Hermione were staring at the two of them wondering what was so funny. When Harry had gained back his voice she smirked at Hermione.
"Hey Hermione maybe you should simplify his clues. I don't think Ron even understands what you are writing."
Hermione looked over at Ron to see him shrug. "Hermione I wouldn't even know how to answer these when McGonagall speaks to me about them."
Hermione threw up her hands in frustration before starting over. Harry and Ginny were soon finished with theirs and decided to play a game of exploding snap while Hermione 'helped' Ron with his. Finally after two hours and plenty of signed eyebrows on Harry and Ginny's side. All four logic puzzles were complete. Hermione decided that they should read them out loud and critique them if necessary before dinner.
Hermione was first
Blessed and cursed by knowledge's kiss.
A sharper wit with claws to match.
A bird hiding in the bush of the Savannah
Cinnamons gaze to melt the heart.
Books and cleverness compare not to friendship and bravery.
Ron whistled "Gee Hermione if professor Flitwick figures that out I will be very impressed. I don't think I could figure that out and I've know you for five years now. Well maybe the eye color would give it away for me but that's about it."
Hermione blushed "Well Ron at least in the five years that you have known me, at least you know what color my eyes are."
Now it was Ron's turn to blush. "Well whatever, maybe I should read mine next as you wrote it."
She gave a smack to Ron's shoulder and told him to read.
Raised with good food and Lots of Love.
Sixth to the seven
Born to fly on Chudley wings and cannons boom.
Knight to C-4, Queen takes knight, Bishop takes King
CHECKMATE!
Hermione was about to grab the parchment again to change something when Harry stopped her. "Look Hermione it's good, just leave it alone. This isn't some homework assignment that has to be perfect."
Hermione sat back and crossed her arms in a huff, while Ron mouthed a thank you to Harry. Harry just shrugged it off before turning to Ginny. "Why don't you read yours next Ginny."
Ginny shrugged and opened her parchment
My brother and I aren't as close as we once were.
My favorite color is green.
I'm wild and free like the flames.
I was born to fertile fields.
A delicate flower in a field of cucumbers.
Hermione seemed to come out of her funk "That is really good Ginny." They were interrupted by Harry's laughter. Ginny turned to him "What's so funny, my Lord."
"Ginny are you trying to make a reference to your brothers 'size' with the cucumber part. I never thought that you would know just how 'big' they are."
Ginny and Ron turned three shades of red and even Hermione was blushing. This just made everything more funnier funny for Harry. That is until Hermione piped up.
"Well Mr. Funny Man. Why don't you read us yours now?"
Harry's laughter died in his throat. He coughed slightly to try and get rid of the lump that just showed up.
1.) A snake in the heart of the Pride-a True Slytherin hides.
2.) A broken prince who hides his scars.
3.) On wings of Love soaring to the sun.
4.) Marked by the wrath of nature.
5.) Eyes that relay the only truth.
When Harry was done he looked up at his three friends. They were all staring at Harry with the jaws on the floor. Hermione was naturally the first one to speak.
"Harry when did you get so smart?"
Harry just shrugged "I've always been this way Hermione. It's just that at the Dursleys I was always beaten when I did better than Dudley. I learned to hide my smarts from people."
Harry suddenly found himself on his back with two crying witches cleaning to him. Harry looked up to Ron hoping for some help only to see a look of rage of his best mate's face. Ron was muttering something and Harry only caught snippets of what he was saying.
"Damn muggles…Death Eater way of thinking…not even Malfoy is that bad."
Harry didn't want to hear any more. He gently pushed Hermione and Ginny off of him. He was able to sit up he caught each of their eyes "Look it something that I have grown up with. I think that with this new heir-hood or whatever you want to call it. I can start to show the real me a little more. I'm good in more things than just defense. So can we please just drop it?"
The others didn't look too happy about it but they nodded their heads anyway. Harry smiled "Now that that is out of the way. I think that we should hold onto these. Errol and Hedwig are to easily recognizable at Hogwarts. We might want to use a few school owls."
Ginny placed a hand on Harrys shoulder. "They have an owlery in town we can rent a few owls there. However I agree on waiting for a few days anyway. We still haven't sent word back to the others and they are probably getting nervous. We will let them know what to do and then when they have sent us there logic puzzles then we can mail them all out together."
Hermione had jumped up as soon as she remembered to write the others. She grabbed a new piece of parchment and a quill and made three simple notes. Each telling them that they indeed had a strange dream and what they were doing about it. As if sensing that there was a job for her Hedwig showed up as soon as Hermione had finished sealing the letters. She cooed at the owl and tied the letters to her leg. They all stood there at Ron's window watching Hedwig fly away before hearing Molly call them for dinner. As one they turned and walked down the stairs. Harry couldn't wait for the year to start. He got a mischievous grin on his face 'Oh he was going to have fun with Snape and Malfoy this year'.
