Holmes obediently turned the cigar box towards the window. "Perhaps a drop of brandy as well?"
Watson shook his head. "I do not think alcohol is good for animals. Holmes, why all this concern for a single mouse? I agree it is a pity nobody took notice of the poor brute for four days but to make a pet of him -"
Holmes didn't answer. He couldn't tell Watson that the limp, starved mouse with a rear paw crushed by the cellar trap had been found wearing a tiny, dark coat and black bowler hat . . . and with an impossibly small doctor's bag just out of reach.
