"What do you propose, Mr. President?" Beetee asked once their empty plates were cleared and they were enjoying a desert of chocolate cake with the seal of Panem frosted on each piece.
"You will attend sponsorship parties in preparation for this year's games. You will propose to your fiance and return to the Capitol for your wedding. Then you will mentor your tributes." Beetee and Wiress nodded. Wiress looked into Beetee's face that showed determination. "Your district and the other districts will see your return to your Victors' lifestyles as a gift from the Capitol." He smiled at Wiress. "The friends of your late husband Kevius will be pleased to see how you have grown. If you need to live in the Capitol in order to keep peace within your district, I know several sponsors that would take you as their wife should I ask."
"I -" Wiress gulped and reached for Beetee's hand across the table.
"I won't lose her again." Beetee snapped standing up with enough force to knock his chair to the floor. "She was so sick after Terrimax was born and died. She could've died. Then you wouldn't have your induction coils in your gourmet kitchen stoves, would you?" He stared into Wiress' large eyes that were wide with fear and that pleaded with him to sit down. "I wonder what you Capitolites would do without your District Three."
"We would make do, of course. We had to re-arrange some trades after we lost District Thirteen." President Snow said cooly as he dug a remote control from his vest pocket. Pushing a button to reveal a flatscreen TV behind a curtain, he powered on the screen to reveal a current arial view of District Three. Beetee's blood ran cold as Wiress' face visibly paled. "This is a live view from one of my drones, as you will see from the date-stamp at the bottom right of the image." Wiress and Beetee nodded. "And this is your Engineering Academy isn't it? Full of young minds working on inventions. All our drones come equipped with firepower just in case."
"No - No - please no!" Wiress cried as she sank to her knees. "Please - please - no -" She sobbed.
"Then, young lady, I suggest you and your fiance keep yourselves in line." President Snow said before the three of them watched the drone's camera switch to a distant view of District Three before the TV screen was hidden behind a curtain once again. "If you cannot do that, both of you will be in the Capitol serving our needs as I see fit." He stared at one of his Avoxes who was wearing a red dress with one shoulder strap as opposed to the typical red collared shirt and black slacks of the typical Avox uniform. Snapping his fingers, she approached President Snow. Leering at her, he ran his fingers down her bare arm. "I would have you train them personally, wouldn't I, beautiful?" He smirked at the two trembling District Three victors in front of him. "Show them out." He commanded.
"Wiress, Wiress, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Beetee whispered to a sobbing Wiress in their hotel room. "I seem to make things worse."
"Because of love - you love me -" Wiress pointed out between her tears.
"Wiress, let's go." Beetee said. "We can leave the hotel. Come on. I have a plan." Wiress stared at him skeptically. "To make sure they know that I will never ever lose you." He whispered furiously before placing his hand on her cheek. "Wiress, I want to show them that I will always keep you by my side."
"Beetee, my love, I know." Wiress whispered before she was lost in his kisses.
