Author's notes: one shot time! Actually I had done most of this WEEKS ago but couldn't finish it off but I finally did XD so here it is and enjoy :)
God it's so boring in here Cana thought as she looked around the guild everyone just sits in their own little groups, so much for a guild hall no one mixes! She grumbled and slammed her mug down on the table.
"Woah, easy there Cana you moan at me and Natsu for destroying the guild" the ice mage smirked and placed a plate of cake in front of her. The card mage looked at the cake sceptically "hey it's not poisoned" he laughed and placed his own plate down and sat opposite her "Mira's been baking all day with Lisanna" Cana grinned she was glad that Lisanna had returned it lifted Mira and Elfman's spirits. She picked up the fork off the plate and dug into the cake
"Damn this is good" she grinned as she ate more of the dessert. Gray chuckled as he dug into his own cake and nodded.
"So where is the rest of your team?" Cana asked between bites, Gray moved his head to the right; she followed his direction and saw Natsu, Lucy and happy all eating the same cake. Natsu and happy weren't very graceful which only caused Cana to laughed as she looked back to her childhood friend "why aren't you sitting there with them?"
"Can't I just sit with an old friend; god we aren't all joined to the hips you know" Gray laughed "is it so hard to believe I enjoy your company"
"Don't say that too loud" Cana grinned "wouldn't want Juvia thinking I'm her love rival" Gray gulped and looked around
"That's not even funny Cana" Gray whispered "I can't be dealing with that"
"Why not?" Cana asked as she leaned forward ignoring the delicious cake because right now she needed answers "I've been wondering Gray why don't you set her straight? I mean you either like her in that way or not so what is it?" Gray sighed and looked away
"Why are you asking me this Cana" Gray moaned, causing the card mage to glare at him
"This is serious Gray, ever since Juvia has met you she's been infatuated by you, personally I don't know what she sees in you" she grinned when he scowled at her
"Hey what's not to love!?" Gray shouted back and puffed out his chest. Cana looked him up and down and burst out laughing causing him to growl.
"Oh it seems that the 'great Gray' is back again!" she laughed as Gray went bright red and looked away
"Hey I haven't called myself that for years!" Gray defended himself. Cana chuckled again before continuing to eat her cake. Gray sighed and decided to do the same
"So" she said between mouthfuls "if you don't love Juvia, who has stolen you're heart?" Gray chocked on the piece of cake he was eating and began coughing. Enjoying his reaction she chuckled again "so I take that as a yes"
"n-no t-that doesn't mean anything" Gray spluttered. Hmm well this is different Cana thought I've never seen him so speechless before, so it must be true!
"Come on Gray, you can tell me. We can either do this the easy way or the hard way. Doesn't matter because I will find out" she gave him an evil grin which caused Gray to become pale
"I don't like anyone" he stated
"I know you don't like anyone" she gave him a sly grin "I know you love someone, there's a big difference" Gray shuffled in his seat damn this woman! Why is she doing this?
"What do you want from me?" Gray asked "are you enjoying this torture?" the brunette shook her head and smiled sweetly at him
"I'm not trying to torture you" Cana said with a smile "I just want answers Gray, just tell me and this will all be over" she pushed her plate to the side and then leaned over the table "but I think I have a good idea about who it is" she grinned as Gray's mouth dropped "I might just go and ask that person and see if they know anything, actually I could just ask everyone, maybe id even get Lucy to use Gemini to check"
"You wouldn't dare" Gray growled as he tried to hide his reddening cheeks
"Oh but I would Fullbuster, in fact I might go do that now-" Cana was cut off when the remaining of Gray's cake collided with her face. The guild went silent as they watched the card mage wipe the cream off her eyes and she stared Gray dead in the eyes. He kept a poker face before bursting out laughing, soon the rest of the guild joined in and Cana licked her lips before smirking at Gray "oh no you didn't" she laughed before scooping up her cake and splatted him in the face with it
"Haha, you look so stupid!" Natsu laughed, Gray grinned before leaning behind him and grabbing Jet's bowl of cake and throwing the contents across the guild hitting the salamander square in the face
"So do you!" Gray shot back
"hey that was my cake!" jet shouted as he stole Droy's cake and went to throw it at Gray but this time Gray ducked and Cana followed suit. The piece of cake flew by hitting
"levy-Chan" jet and Droy cried. As they watched the small bookworm remove her cake covered glasses and glare at them.
"Gehehe you look too funny shrimp" the iron dragon slayer chuckled deeply. Levy turned her gaze to him she whipped her face and moved her hand all over his face and hair rubbing it in
"Hehe, now we look the same" she laughed
"Food fight" happy cried before throwing his cake at Lucy
"Ahh! You damn cat" she shouted as she began to throw her cake around swinging her arms around madly
"Look what you've started" Cana laughed as she flipped a table over to use as cover. Gray laughed and hid with her picking up all the food he could find and throwing it at the salamander
"Damn you ice box!" Natsu roared as he was covered in food he picked up Happy's fish and began to throw them with all his strength at the ice mage
"Duck!" Gray shouted and dived to the ground with Cana
"Where?!" Wendy shouted innocently before a fish landed on her head. She shrieked before throwing it back at Natsu using her magic to propel it faster knocking the fire dragon slayer backwards "sorry Natsu-kun!" Wendy shouted when she realised what she had done
"Don't apologise" Chalre scolded before flying upwards to dodge oncoming missiles of food. Cana pulled Wendy down to hide
"Come on you can be on our side, we could use some power shots" Cana said before looking over at Gray "I mean he isn't that good"
"Hey!" Gray shouted while Wendy giggled. But he laughed too well I only wanted to silence Cana but this has worked just as well he mentally laughed well this has worked out well he jumped up and began throwing his ammo at the nearest mages
It wasn't long before Natsu and Gray had taken it to the next level and were charging after each other throwing anything they could grasp.
"I'll get you back for that!" Natsu roared as he threw a chair behind him, Gray jumped the hurdle and continued to throw cake at his rival but kept on missing
"Damn it Natsu! Keep still I can't hit you like this" Gray shouted while the rest of the guild face palmed. Finally Natsu skidded to a halt just in front of the guild door. They both stood facing each other. Oh no I'm down to my last piece of cake Gray thought but when he looked over he grinned aha looks like flame brain only has one slice of pizza left! Wait who the hell has pizza in the morning?!
"This is it" Natsu roared dramatically
"Yea it ends here!" Gray laughed while Lucy and Cana sighed
"What idiots" they said in unison as happy flew past them eating a fish
"Aye!" he laughed. The two rivals faced each other grinning holding there last piece of ammunition.
"This won't end well" Cana muttered as she watched the two mages throw cake and pizza at each other, everything seemed to happen in slow motion as Natsu slipped over the dirty floor and fell face first on the ground. Gray was about to laugh at his rival but he noticed the guild door open. Ohh no don't let it hit whoever walks in Gray's mind cried but sadly fate wasn't so nice to him. First he saw a flash of scarlet but then all he saw was white cream everywhere.
The guild fell silent as they realised who had just walked in and noticed what had happened but this time no one laughed
"Told you this would end badly" Cana said out loud. The Titania wiped her face before looking up, and if looks could kill fairy tail would have been wiped out in an instance
"E-Erza" Gray choked I'm such a dead man. She slowly walked up to the ice mage
"What is going on? The guild is a mess!" she shouted, the guild mates flinched and hid in their seats "whose fault is this?" she roared clearly angry. In an instance all hands pointed accusingly in one direction
"It was all Gray's idea!" happy cried
"You're the one that shouted food fight" Lucy whispered and the blue exceed hushed her with wide eyes and shook his head. Unluckily for Gray Erza never heard what the blue cat had said. She now stood in front of the mage and stayed silent before looking around the guild, within seconds the guild was vacated
"Erm lets go" jet said dragging Droy with him. The others made different excuses and left quickly. Lucy ran out dragging a dazed Natsu with her
"Sorry Gray" she said before leaving her other male teammate behind. Cana was last to leave and smoothly walked past her friend
"Told you it would have just been easier to tell me who the person is" she winked before leaving the mage stunned. Erza raised her eyebrows as she caught what the card mage had said but remained silent emitting a furious aura. Gray stood still unsure of what to do
"Well get cleaning" Erza barked making Gray jump
"What the whole guild hall? But it's a tip!" Gray moaned. Erza took a step forward
"What did you say" she hissed
"Erm nothing!" he said and quickly walked off trying to get a safe distance away from the Titania. He scanned the hall crap this place really is a mess! But it's not all my fault! Happy shouted food fight! But it's too late now. Best get started.
He walked behind the bar and picked up a broom "Are you really going to sweep up sticky food with a broom" Erza asked with a dull expression
"No" Gray replied with a 'duh' look now how can I get rid of all this rubbish quickly, I don't want to spend forever in here! He leaned on the bar and began to form a plan to save himself
"there's no quick method" Erza stated as she sat on one of the only standing tables "you're just going to have to clean this mess the good old fashioned way, magic can't help you" suddenly an idea popped into Gray's head
"Maybe it can" he said out loud and walked over to a large pile of food, he placed his hand above it and watched it freeze into a block, using the broom he began sweeping the ice which moved easily. Gray laughed at his breakthrough and began running round freezing all the junk on the floor
"Ha! I'll be done in no time" he laughed and began to sweep all the rubbish to one place in the centre of the hall
"Not bad" Erza commented as she watched the ice mage work quickly "I have to admit that was smart thinking" Gray looked over and grinned
"I have my moments"
"So" Erza started attempting to start small talk "what was Cana on about before she left?" Gray stopped his work and inwardly groaned damn you Cana!
"Ah that was nothing" Gray said casually "she was drunk"
"She didn't seem drunk to me" Erza commented "she doesn't get drunk, so seriously what was she on about?" Gray sighed he really needed to improve his lying technique when he was around the re-quip mage
"It was nothing, just Cana messing around as usual" Gray said before picking the broom back up
"Hmm" Erza murmured and began to think, it was obvious that she wasn't convinced with his answer, Gray sighed if I know Erza she won't let this go so easily damn it he brought the broom over nearby Erza and began to freeze the mash potato in front of him serious who the hell is eating this so early?! Erza must have read his mind and laughed lightly "it must be Droy" she stated "or Natsu seeing as they eat so much" Gray nodded he went to brush the block of frozen potato away when it wouldn't budge "what the" Gray muttered as he tried again but still it wouldn't budge. Gray growled as he looked at the offending object in front of him
"It that bit of potato too heavy for you to move" Erza teased enjoying the angry look the ice mage was wearing
"Tch no" he shot back he brought the broom back and slammed it to the block of ice but at that exact moment Gray looked at the table leg and realised that it had also been frozen to the potato hence he couldn't brush it away, but with a final slam Gray had managed to send the frozen potato flying and also managed to send the table flying off with it…which Erza was currently sitting on…
"Kya Gray!" Erza screamed as she flew forward as the table flew sideways Erza jumped forward just where Gray was standing with a shocked expression, he dropped the broom and went to grab the female mage but the sheer force sent him backwards thankfully Gray landed where he had already swept up but the impact still hurt like hell, plus having a fully armoured Titania land on him the air was knocked right out of Gray "armour" Gray croaked hoping the red head would take the hint, without a sound there was a bright light and the heavy weight disappeared and was replaced with a more comfortable one, she could have just got off Gray thought as he gasped for breath "sorry" she murmured which Gray barely heard as the Titania had buried her head on Gray's chest "I thought armour would absorb the blow of hitting the ground
"well you got me" he coughed which caused a slight laugh from the other mage which made the ice mage smile as well, they stayed still and silent for what felt like forever to Gray but in reality was only a few minutes he had finally managed to catch his breath and saw how Erza still had her face hidden on his chest and scarlet hair covered his view much to his annoyance wait what? Why does it matter to me…? "Erza" Gray said cautiously she is way too quiet "are you ok?" a small nod answered him; she then sat up on his chest and smiled
"Well now that you can't run away what was Cana on about?" Erza asked and Gray groaned
"What the hell was this lying down all quietly just a ploy" Gray shouted "I'm hurt" he said with mock sadness making his nakama laugh
"Don't try and change the subject Gray, you're good at getting out of answering questions, but I'm better at getting answers"
"Why the hell does it matter to you" Gray shot back "I didn't take you for a nosey gossip" this caused her to pull a face
"I'm just curious, besides Cana mouthed something to me before she walked away when you turned away" Gray's eyes widened oh crap what the hell did Cana do?! Gray wriggled uncomfortably
"Get off Erza" he huffed but the red head shook her head
"You'll just run off so no" Gray sighed, well best to just this over with maybe I can blag my way out of it
"I don't run away from things so tell me what she said" Gray stated which caught Erza off god Gray smirked I bet Erza didn't think I'd agree he mentally laughed "come on Erza I'm waiting I have a guild hall to clean" suddenly the s-class mage didn't seem as confident. Seizing the opportunity Gray jumped up breaking free from the Titania's grasp he left her standing there while he carried on cleaning the floor ha that actually worked
"Juvia"
Upon hearing this Gray sighed but never turned around "what about her"
"Cana just said to Juvia and made weird little signs that I missed"
"Hmm" Gray responded and carried on with his punishment of cleaning
"Well I saw her make a heart and point to you" Gray groaned
"So what, it's obvious she likes me"
"Tch" Erza snorted "I think it's a little more than like, but what I want to know is if you like her" this time Gray stopped and turned around
"And what's it to you" he questioned "why the hell do you care?"
"Well that's a bit defensive, so there is something going on" Erza pondered which made Gray groan louder
"It doesn't mean anything" he said back while Erza walked over to him
"Seriously Gray do you like her, I need to know" the way she looked at him made Gray's cheeks heat up damn it why is she looking at me so innocently! But Erza frowned
"See you're blushing! You do like her" Erza's voice raised
"What?!" Gray asked with a shocked expression she thinks that means I like Juvia oh crap that's not what i…wait why the hell does she care? "Why would that bother you if I did?" Erza moved back
"i-I don't care about it" she stuttered making Gray become suspicious
"You obviously do care seeing as you practically pinned me down to get answers!" he shot back "it's not like we're married!" Erza's face heated up but Gray wasn't sure if she was blushing or getting mad
"No we're not married and I wouldn't want to be married to an ass like you!" she shouted
"Neither would I you control freak" he shouted back
"Oh shut up you stupid stripper!"
"Hey I can't help that! Don't bring my stripping into this" he said defensively
"How can I not mention your stripping!? You always do it damn it, one minute you're fully clothed next second you're in your boxers!"
"Well if you don't like what you see don't bloody look"
"I can't help but look you're always right by me"
"That's because we're on the same team duh! But what's the problem I'm not that ugly" he said bitterly
"That's the problem" Erza cried "you just strut around in barely anything while I just stand there staring and to top it all off you're going out with Juvia" she clenched her fists "it hurts" she said softly. Gray just stood there with his eyes wide he took a few steps forward
"Erza" he said softly but he made her walk back
"Don't Gray, just don't try and comfort me anymore I can't-" but he cut her off wrapping his arms around her
"Like I'm ever going to stop looking out for you, we're nakama's" he said softly
"Yeah nakama's… but get off me, Juvia will get jealous if she sees us" Erza said bitterly
"Well that's her problem, she isn't my girlfriend" he chuckled making her eyes shoot up
"But she loves you and you love her!" she said in a shaky voice
"Yea I do love her" he said smoothly but placed his hand under her chin so he looked into his eyes "but as a friend, I want to protect her from all this darkness and make sure she's ok but I can only love her as a friend"
"So you aren't going out with her?" and Gray laughed again
"Maybe in her head we're already married with children but in reality there's nothing going on" he laughed before looking back at the mage with a sad expression "but Erza I don't understand why you're hurting" Erza looked up with an angered expression before pushing herself away from Gray who stood there confused
"Of course you don't know why! You're so dense sometimes!"! She shouted angry, normally Gray would flinch and cover when confronted with an angry. But this was different she's upset he thought I know that much. Ok think Gray; it hurts her when she sees me and Juvia and seemed to be really upset thinking I loved Juvia. God cant she realise who I love? Wait…that's it
Gray cleared his throat please don't kill me Gray thought before walking forward "you want to know what Cana was on about before?" he asked but Erza glared at him
"I don't care about that! Stop trying to change the subject" she seethed, Gray was now only a few steps away from the scarlet haired woman
"I think you will care about it" he said confidently which made Erza's expression change from angry to curious "you want to know what started this whole food fight? I was talking to Cana and she asked me a personal question that she already knew the answer too. Only thing was I didn't want her to tell anyone else so I threw my cake at her to distract her" he laughed "should have known that she didn't buy it anyway. But anyway she asked me who I liked and questioned me about Juvia and you know what I gave her the same response I just gave you"
"So that's what started it all" she said thoughtfully
"but Cana already knew my true feelings she just wanted me to admit them to her, probably trying to make me admit it to the person as well" at this Erza looked up at him with a blank expression making Gray chuckle "and you say I'm the dense one" he took the final steps and now he stood in front of her.
He leaned down "it's you" he whispered in her ear so quietly that he wasn't even certain if she had heard him but the small gasp answered he thoughts his lips gently grazed over hers but before he even pulled away he felt a hand tangle in his black hair and pull him closer. He looked and saw the dark pink that stained her cheeks and he smirked in the kiss.
After a few moments he pulled away and heard a soft sigh escape her lips as she caught her breath and looked up at him "I'm not as dense as you think I am" he said with a smile before pulling her into an embrace which she happily responded to. He leaned down again trying to capture her lips once again only this time a slip finger was pressed on his lips he frowned at her what the hell he thought until he realised that Erza had finally gained her composure trust her to have a melt down and then turn back to her bossy self!
"You haven't finished cleaning this mess" she whispered with a sly grin making the ice mage groan
"Aww come on-" he was interrupted as her lips met his but she pulled back quickly and Gray let out another groan
"That's not funny" he growled making Erza laugh slightly its funny how one minute she can be so sad and now here she is teasing me!
"Fine" he grumbled and picked up the discarded broom "but after I finish we continue where we left off!" Erza flipped up a chair and smiled
"We'll see now get on with it!"
"Aye!"
