The chains clattered on the floor, pronouncing Feitan's freedom. Even spilled chains of vengeance stood no chance against Katsu's sword.

Kurapika watched in disbelief as Katsu sliced up his chains like threads, feeing his prey. Those chains could even bind the strongest Ryodan, Uvogin, yet Katsu had so easily…

That was her true strength, he realized.

Without much delay, Katsu whirled around at Kurapika, with eyes of guilt yet hidden determination.

Kurapika could no longer catch up with the events unfolding before him. It was unusual, since he was the type to think of a solution almost immediately whenever problems turn up. However, this time, he could not. Instead of just processing another smart solution in his head like how he usually does, all he could think of now is,

Why? Why? Why?

"Argh!" he heard himself shout in pain as Katsu landed a kick on his stomach, sending him onto the ground.

With her usual speed, she pounced onto him. Her sword was held high, ready to rob him of his life. With a cry filled with an unknown hesitance, Katsu brought the killer metal down with all her might.

Clank!

The sword was jammed into the tiled floor, right by Kurapika's neck. Katsu's breath was slow and heavy, like that of a dying animal. Kurapika's sea-blue eyes met Katsu's crimson's.

Sad. This story was sad.

He still could not believe that she was really a spy, as he had forbade himself to suspect before.

No…she was probably forced…she must've been forced…

Kurapika's chest tightened.

She…

His heart yelled at him yet his mind struggled to keep calm.

His efforts to calm down were down the drain when the blue in his eyes was swallowed up by the red.

Katsu is a Genei Ryodan.

With a furious cry, he kicked the tiny girl off him, sending her flying off and crashing somewhere.

His heart was accelerating every second.

Why am I hesitating?

That he could not answer, but he had finally found the solution to such a ridiculous problem.

I'll just kill them all.

Katsu struggled up quickly to face Kurapika, but instead of flying back at him with her katana, her eyes widened by a good few inches.

"KURAPIKA!" she heard herself scream with such a broken voice.

Plip…plip…plip…

His eyes widened as blood dripped from his mouth.

You idiot…you were too preoccupied with that traitor…

His scarlet eyes shifted to his chest, where he saw a blade punctured through his chest, missing his heart by just inches.

His vision blurred before he finally collapsed, black sinister blood as his shadow. He was still conscious though, but he could not move. Kurapika gritted his teeth in annoyance.

'Poison?'

"Paralysis," Feitan corrected, as if he had read his mind, admiring the red stained sword as he approached.

A smirk spread across the Ryodan's face, watching Kurapika trying to move with all his might, his teeth gritting in pain.

"Feitan...don't…" Katsu's voice trembled, yet she was frozen at her spot.

"I must say, your acting exceeds even my expectations. You managed to con him so well," Feitan laughed, glancing at the trembling girl.

'Acting? Con?'

Feitan smiled at Kurapika, seemingly to have read his mind again,

"Yes," he answered for him,

"She is with us. Your princess is a Genei Ryodan."

Though Kurapika was already 99% sure she was, a small 1% of him hoped that it was just a lie.

But upon hearing that, his doubts have finally all been cleared.

He stopped struggling. Eyes widened. Mouth agape.

"So it's true…" he managed to choke out. His voice was broken and sore.

Feitan's smile extended. He leaned down to Kurapika, so close that he could feel his breath brushing against his cheek.

"That's right, she betrayed you, from the moment you both met."

Guilt gushed through Katsu's viens.

'What should I do?'

She was confused. She was scared.

Feitan then leaned back. He brought his right hand in front of the left scarlet, his index and middle fingers inches away from the vicious beauty.

"Is this what you treasure most?" he whispered as if lovingly towards Kurapika, stroking his blonde hair as he did so.

No reply.

Kurapika just gritted his teeth in anger and disgust, yet his heart was hammering against his chest in fear.

Feitan leaned down once more, whispering into his ear,

"I shall rob it from you then."

Katsu's eyes widened as a scream pierced through the air.

Feitan dug his fingers into the scarlet, twisting them here and there to get them dipper in. Kurapika screamed in agony, his voice sore and painful yet he never stopped. His body twisted in every direction, struggling in pain. Brilliant crimson danced in the air. Some flew while some splattered through the ground in a red mess.

Feitan laughed madly, enjoying the shower of red upon him. The sinister laugh chorused harmoniously with the sore and sharp screams. A sweet scent of blood floated in the air as Feitan breathed it in like it was fresh.

It was Hell's Paradise.

Feitan's fingers closed around the precious scarlet. Forcefully, he ripped it out. A last, sickening, scream reverberated through everyone's veins before silence finally took over.

Feitan raised the bloodied scarlet into the air like a trophy. Then, with broken chuckles, he brought it down in front of Kurapika and opened his palm. Letting the scarlet glow and showing off its full beauty.

Kurapika lay motionless on the ground, the only sign of life on him was his heavy, slow breathing. The socket which once held a breath-taking treasure was now replaced with emptiness and crimson flowing from it. His blonde hair was now stained with red moved to cover the hellish wound.

Kurapika shivered in pain, his mouth gasping for air, his other eye showing nothing but fear.

"Beautiful," Feaitan gasped dramatically,

"You look beautiful this way Chain User!" he laughed insanely.

Kurapika leered at him in disgust, his heartbeat beating the intense rhythm of hatred. He gritted his teeth in anger and shot Feitan a murderous glare.

"That's right!" he praised, "I love that look of yours!"

The scarlet shimmered like a diamond in his palm. He grinned and closed his palm around the scarlet. He tightened the grip and crushed the priceless treasure in an instant. Sticky, disgusting liquid burst out from his hand.

The scarlet was now destroyed.

Memories of the past gushed back into Kurapika's head.

The toppled houses, the crimson battlefield, and the dead without eyes.

Poisoned by the hatred of past.

Kurapika gritted his teeth furiously as he let out a cry. Struggling and even kicking.

He wanted to kill him, he wanted revenge.

Bound by the chains of Hell.

"I pity you," Feitan spat.

Kurapika had no intentions of giving Feitan any pleasure, but the mental and physical shock he had to endure was too much for him to bear.

'Don't give him what he wants,' his heart warned.

Impossible.

Feitan leaned over once more, his mouth by Kurapika's ear,

"How about I take your other eye hmm?"

His heart stopped. Hell was going to repeat himself.

No…no I don't want to! I don't want to die! I can't die!

Kurapika's heart paced as Feitan's hands approached his eye.

I can't die… What about…what about the revenge I swore?! KURAPIKA!

Then, Feitan froze. The disgusting smile still on his face.

'Did time stop?' he wondered.

Blood squirted out from the side of Feitan's neck as he fell over him.

Lifeless, headless.

At the other end of the road laid his head, still grinning, looking almost as if he was still alive.

'…what happened?'

Kurapika tilted his head to see her shaking wildly, gripping onto her sword tighter than ever.

"Katsu…" he managed to whisper before his consciousness failed him.

Katsu stared at the blood bath and the red, twisted bodies.

She dropped her sword, falling onto her knees beside Kurapika.

"What have I done?"

She was confused. It was unclear if her choice had been right.

She had not joined the Genei Ryodan for this. She just joined it so that she could have a family.

It was such a simple reason that she wondered if she was actually born stupider than normal kids.

She never had intentions of betraying the Ryodan, but…

Katsu looked at the unconscious Kurapika. If it was not for the blood, he would've looked as if he was just sleeping.

"I don't want to betray him either."

A drop of water pelted on the blonde's cheek, cleansing some of the blood off.

Rain?

Then Katsu felt it streaming down her eyes.

Tears.

Her heart felt heavy and stressed. Without another word, she placed Kurapika's arm around her shoulder, and dragged him home, leaving a trail of blood as their troublesome shadow.
