There's going to be some special guest stars in some of the following chapters! Tell me if you like this crossover 'cause if you do, I might do it again. Anyway, they're from a different anime and I don't own them, of course! So enjoy!
Chapter 8: Maid Latte
"What to do, what to do," Yuri sighed as she leaned back in the chair.
After the whole encounter/mission fail with Shiina, the recovered members of Battlefront and I found ourselves in front of a maid café. I didn't have much choice because she literally dragged me in.
Not to our surprise, we were greeted by some, *cough* cute *cough* maids. Hinata had some stupid expression and was immediately attacked by Yui. Kanade did ask me in a whisper if I thought they were cute, and of course, I denied saying that she's the only cute one in my life.
Pathetic, I know.
Anyway, we were seated by a table with three thugy looking guys with the same school uniform and as we waited for our order, we tried our best to brainstorm some ideas on how to wake Shiina up and get her back on our side. We sat, Kanade to my left, Yuri next to her then Yui, and Hinata on my right.
"Any ideas, guys?" looks like our all mighty leader gave up as she crossed her arms and closed her eyes.
I shook my head, "Nothing."
"Then how were you able to so easily come up with a plan to get Hinata to regain his memories?" asked Yui.
"He saw us in stands," I explained putting my hands behind my head. "He remembered us that way and I'll I had to do was talk to him. Plus, I'm closer to Hinata so I knew how to operate. I don't know Shiina as well as you guys should."
Yuri opened an eye and looked at me with her piercing emerald eyes, "You're usually the one with all the ideas and plans."
"How does that work?! You're our damn leader!" I exclaimed, in a voice a little higher than an inside voice.
"That doesn't mean I have the brain power to think of everything, bimbo!" she retorted.
"Hey guys, I don't think arguing's going to solve anything," Hinata butted. "We should really get some quiet so we can figure things out, alright?"
We nodded just as one of the maids, a girl probably 18 with black hair and amber eyes walked up to me. I looked up at her as she bowed with her arms crossed in front of her.
Huh, I've seen this maid somewhere before.
"Hello Masters and mistresses and welcome to the Maid Latte. What would you like to eat or drink?"
"I'll have a fruit parfait, please," Yuri ordered.
As Hinata and Yui decided on their order, Kanade and I read a menu over at the same time.
"What do you want, Kanade?" I asked.
She blinked, "I want a strawberry sundae but I heard that an order is big."
"I'll share it with you."
She nodded as she put the menu down.
"And what would you like master and mistress?" she still had the smile even though she just recorded Hinata's very, very complicated treat.
"You know," I said resting my head on my hands, "You could stop with all the 'master' and 'mistress' crap."
"I think it's her job, Moron," Yui replied. She's been calling me 'Moron' up until the point that I instantly respond to it instead of my name. Annoying, yes but I couldn't help but get used to it.
"So? It's not like we're gonna report her to her boss if she didn't call us master and mistress. I just think it's kinda unnecessary," I answered before turning back to the maid. Her eyes were still shining but with confusion.
"It looks like we might be here for a while, though. Name's Otonashi and yours are?"
She blinked at me with shock, "Oh no. I can't possibly –"
"Like I said," I made my eyes harden and a dark smile spread across my face, "My name's Otonashi Yuzuru, what's your name?"
"Misaki Ayuzawa," she said bluntly, her sweet fake smile slowly becoming as dark as mines. "And what would you like today, Yuzuru?"
Casually, as if nothing happened, I glanced quickly at Kanade. She blinked a reply and I ordered, "Just a strawberry sundae for two."
With another bow she said, "I'll be back with your drinks."
When she left our table, Yuri starred daggers at me, causing my skin to crawl, "What the hell was that, Otonashi? She was only doing her job and yet you put her in the spotlight!"
I shrugged, "I know who she is. She's Ayuzawa Misaki. The former student body president for Seika High School. You know the former all-boys school that recently became a co-ed school?"
My Battlefront teammates slowly nodded their heads so I continued, "I was there three times. Once, for an open house they had and well, I saw her running around bossing some guys around. Another for an orientation when she was yelling at some guys for something. She only had to glare at them for a brief second and they'd be running for miles. I've actually talked to her briefly and the last time she was in the student council room yelling at some dude named Usui or something. Too bad she doesn't seem to remember who I am.
"Hard to believe," Yuri said, "You don't see many orange-headed seventeen year old teenage boys roaming the streets of Tokyo any day now."
"It doesn't matter," I smiled. "It'd be fun to mess with her for a bit, ya know? For the heck of it."
She returned before anybody could answer with five glasses of water. As she finished setting them down, Hinata was prepared to say something but she lingered by my side. I slowly turned and glanced up at her, "Yes?"
Before Misaki could open her mouth to speak, a taller figure appeared behind her, casting a shadow on our table. I could barely see his face but it seemed like he was glaring at me.
"Everything alright, here?" he asked in a deep voice.
Yui and Hinata exchange looks as Yuri continued looking at him unflinchingly. Kanade just simply took a sip of her water.
Aren't they best friends on the universe? I swear, you can't find anybody like them in this whole damn dimension!
"Everything's fine," I answered.
Misaki moved aside, clearly annoyed with the boy. When his full body came into view, I only blinked in surprise. By his voice, it made him seem like some scary dude but he was just the same age as Misaki. He had spikey honey - blonde hair and green eyes, sort of like Yuri's but a little darker. He might be a few inches taller than me and in better shape but he doesn't intimidate me. He, too, was familiar to me.
He narrowed his eyes at me, daring me to continue.
"Look, I was just telling her to call me by my name instead of 'Master'. Nothing wrong with that, right?"
He glanced back at Misaki who nodded once.
"That's good then," he tuck one of his hands in his jean pockets, "I like you, kid. I'm always bothered when Misaki calls any other guys master. I'm her one and only master."
Instantly, the maid's cheeks glowed and she yelled at him, "You perverted alien! You don't go and tell complete strangers that! And didn't I tell you to stay in the kitchen, Usui?!"
So, this was the guy she was yelling at back then.
"But he isn't a complete stranger," the boy retorted without flinching, "You said he looked familiar."
Misaki cooled as she spoke, "Uh, y-yeah," she turned to me, "Have we met?"
Kanade piped up, surprising everybody, "Apparently, he has spoken to you once about your school." My girlfriend looked up at Misaki, "Come on, Kaichou-sama. You have to at least try to remember him. He is probably one of the only boys in the world with orange hair."
Misaki continued to study me for another minute or so. Then, she snapped her fingers, "Oh yeah! You were the boy that I scared off because this alien was around!"
I nodded, "That's me."
"You've grown. I only remember seeing you slip away as Misaki just kept going off on me," Usui said with a smile. "So what are you doing here at a maid café in the first place, anyway?"
"My friends and I were just visiting the temple a few blocks away from here," I replied looking at Yuri, who didn't seem to care what was going on. She picked up her cup of water and started drinking. Hinata and Yui followed her lead but Kanade just simply kept her eyes on me.
Misaki blinked, "Oh the one with the quiet girl named Shiina?"
Immediately, Yurippe choked. Yui and Hinata's mouths dropped open as they all looked at the maid.
"You know Shiina?" I asked.
"She goes to our school," Misaki blinked, surprised. "Plus, she's one of my closest friends and tends to help me herd the delinquents around Seika High."
Our beloved leader finally spoke for the first time, "Does she still like cute puppies and things like that?"
"Loves," answered Misaki.
"That's good then," she started laughing, evilly, causing everybody present at our table and our two new friends to sweat a sweat drop.
"What do you have in mind, Yurippe?" Hinata asked. "Why do I feel that all hell's gonna break lose with that laugh of yours?"
"Getting Shiina back will be a piece of cake," she said, stopping her laugh before turning to the couple standing. "But this time, we're going to need your help. Are you two free tomorrow?"
Misaki and Usui looked at each other before nodding once, still shocked with our leader's sudden, well, talking.
"Great than you guys are going to be playing a huge role in this plan," she looked at me, her eyes glinted with mischief. "Along with Otonashi, of course."
Chills spread through my body.
Dammit, I made a mistake regaining my memories…
