Hey Guys=)

I just felt that I had to upload this chapter tonight!

You are probably all very excited for this chapter and I hope that you will enjoy it!
But I am not sure if it turned out that good...sorry if there are any mistakes!

She sat there in a corner in complete darkness.

Caroline had pulled her legs up and hugged her shines while she hit her face behind them. She was cold and the pitch blackness consumed everything around her making her shiver.

Someone had taken the chains off her but she hadn't been able to move as much as a finger.

The young vampire couldn't see her hand in front of her eyes, if she had been able to hold her eyes open in the first place that is, let alone hear anything besides the very slow beating of her dead heart.

The worst of all was the fear that pierced it. She hadn't felt this frightened since she had become a vampire.

Not like this. Not this intensity of it that crept into her cells and nudged her nerve endings.

Would she desiccate here? Would anyone find her?

She remembered the tomb and related to the vampires who had suffered in there for years.

Caroline didn't know if she was shaking because of the cold or the fear that tightened its grip around her heart. She felt the strength slowly drain from her body. For how long had she been in here?

She didn't know, because she lost all count for time. …days…weeks?

The tears she had already shed had run dry, but they had left dirty tracks on her face, an evidence of the crucial act she had gone through. Exhaustion told her to sleep, but Fear would not let her.

The young vampire barely felt her hunger at the moment, but the craving and burning would return. She had never believed in God, but right now she was this close to pray to whoever would listen.

"Please, let me out of here."

Even though she was dead she didn't want to leave for good. A lonely tear left her eye while her muscles started to shake uncontrollably. Her arms tightened with the last bit of strength around her legs as if she would fall apart if she let go of them.

There were still so many things she had wanted to do, to sort out.

She had just admitted to herself that she felt something for Klaus. Something real, because he was the only thing on her mind right now and the regret for never going to see him again, never being able to find out why he really left. The never knowing if Elijah was right. It was an additional pain and so much different from the physical one she had to go through.

Her limbs went even heavier when the last blood slowly left her system. She started hurting in various places and remembered Katherine saying: "…your veins start rubbing against each other like sandpapers."

Caroline tried to concentrate on her breathing. Just breathe.

She told herself. Just breathe.

But it only made her even more miserable for she heard Klaus' voice in her head that had told her to just breathe, you're going to be okay.

But she wouldn't. There was nothing there.

Nothing but darkness.

No drop of hope.

His senses were highly alerted and he reacted to every single sound or movement, no matter how small it was. There had to be a trace somewhere!

He gnawed his teeth and sneaked yet further into the forest.

After a while he shook his head. Caroline, where are you!?

His heart yearned to see her face again and to hold her safely in his arms. He still couldn't get their last morning together out of his mind. Or her lips on his. He was no longer that naive as to think that there wasn't a special bond between them and that maybe they could try to figure out what exactly was there between them. He wanted to give it a chance if she was willing…if not than… He sighed.

What then?

He needed her more than ever and this need was almost unbearable and it ran through every fibre of his being!

Klaus stopped.

There was something in the air…yes…yes, he could smell something that didn't belong to the muddy forest. His body became rigid while he took the smell in and when his synapses connected an image flared through his mind.

He saw her face in front of his eyes and his dead heart beat frantically. It was her scent, her blood to be more concrete.

Anger started boiling inside of him making him look lethal. But there was even a tinge of fear creeping into his cells.

She was bleeding or had been bleeding.

Klaus raced through the forest swiftly avoiding tree stumps and branches always following the scent. His phone vibrated when he received a text from Rebekah: We need to hurry! Stefan and Damon can't distract them any longer!

A groan rumbled through his throat.

He raced until he came to a halt in front of a rock wall. She had to be here somewhere!

The scent was still lingering in the air and very dominant so.

Klaus walked along the wall and let his hand run over the rough surface until he noticed the strange vibes that radiated from it. He pounded against the rock wall and the sound that came back was hollow. He tried again and knew there had to be a passage or a cave behind it. Looking around he searched for an entrance. There had to be one somewhere near, but where the hell could it be? He was running out of time!

Come one, don't lose your head!

The original flashed back to his car to get the pickle he had used to bury a dead body only a few days ago.

In no time at all he was back and the wall cracked under his strong hits. He groaned under the strain, but it was certainly worth it. He needed his light back!

When the hole was big enough to slip through he didn't hesitate and it was as if someone hit his head.

The pang of the feeling almost knocked the breath out of him. She was here!

He felt her presence almost physically and so he flashed into the direction his heart was calling him to.

Behind a corner his eyes spotted something in the darkness. There was something or someone curled into a ball lying lifelessly close to the wall. His breath caught in his throat when he couldn't see any light around her. Klaus slowly stepped closer and braced himself for whatever he was about to discover.

He knelt down and took the body into his hands, gently cradling it closer to his chest. Caroline! It was definitely her, but she wasn't stirring and there was blood everywhere. Her sand paper skin made his heart skipped a beat.

Don't be dead, my love! Please don't be dead! Klaus silently prayed while he closed his eyes and struggled to listen.

His heart started beating at a normal pace again as he noticed that she was still alive.

Her breathing was very faint but it was there. This sense of relief that soothed his agitated nerves was new and it travelled through his whole body clearing his mind. Letting out a relieved breath and without any effort he picked her up to get her out of there as quickly as possible.

As he cradled her icy body to his chest he flinched and anger loathed inside of him. Heads would roll for this!

He stepped outside the cave into the sunlight, but the vampire in his arms suddenly started screaming and burning.

Startled he flashed back into the darkness. Wide eyed he looked at her, how her head lolled unconsciously to one side. Her perfect skin now covered with ugly blisters.

"Caroline!" He hissed panicky. What was the means of this?

Almost reflexively he bit into his wrist and put it against her mouth, cradling her body against his chest.

"Come on sweetheart, drink."

For a second she didn't seem to drink. "Come on!" He urged her and nudged her closer to his open wrist. Please Caroline! Don't die!

Then she started sucking and Klaus felt her fangs biting deeper into his flesh. A thrill seized his body when he felt her fangs inside him. The feeling was quite arousing and Klaus struggled to suppress the emotion. Wrong time wrong place, but the feeling was so vivid! He caressed her hair while Caroline held on to his arm against her lips which was how he noticed her missing daylight ring. So she wasn't spelled. Thank god!

The sweet moans that she made while sucking his blood were so enticing that he really struggled to keep his act together. Instead he focused on watched her skin starting to heal immediately while his blood filled her veins. The liquid felt like a sweet remedy running down her throat and through her veins easing the pain almost into non existence. With every drop her heartbeat became stronger easing Klaus' conscience ever more.

Klaus held her close and felt her draining his blood which would usually make him freak out, but he wasn't afraid now. There was calmness and a deep trust that surfaced. He panted when a new wave of those strong emotions hit him. Suddenly Caroline stopped and Klaus withdrew his arm. Her body was drawing deep breaths and her heart beat stronger but she didn't open her eyes.

"Caroline, love, wake up." His warm hand cupped her cheek and his voice was filled with tenderness.

There was a voice, a familiar voice calling her name which she could hear through the thick fog that embraced her mind. The warm voice pulled her closer and closer to the surface and Caroline wondered if she was able to open her eyes. It called out to her and she tried to hold on to it. Wake up!

Yes, she wanted to wake up as if she was afraid to disappoint that sweet voice all her senses struggled to break through the surface. There was a nice smell that travelled through her nose and into her mouth which made her almost taste it. The voice and smell were accompanied with a warmth that was surrounding her whole body. Covering her protectively and in this sweet bliss she wondered: Did I just die?

Her eyelids fluttered and her vision cleared very slowly forcing the darkness to disappear. There was too much light and she had to blink for a few times before she was able to see anything. Her head buzzed and something touched her hair. She felt a warm strong hand stroking her hair, pulling strands of it behind her ear and caressing her cheek. No, she couldn't be dead!

A smile sneaked upon her face when her eyes were finally able to take the sight of him in:

"Klaus." Her voice was hoarse and faint. "You're here." She croaked and peace and serenity spread through her limbs. The knowledge that everything was going to be okay filled her mind.

"I am. Are you okay? How do you feel?"

She held her head and slowly sat up with Klaus hand supporting her back. "Well, the world stops spinning I think."

He smiled back, but there was a fierce look in his eyes and a thin line on his forehead that Caroline didn't miss besides the fact that she just started to overcome her numbness. Her whole body tingled.

She looked into his eyes and her smile faded while her features became insecure. "Are you mad at me?"

There was a coldness and hardness returning to his eyes when she reminded him. He didn't want to be angry, but the panic he had felt earlier suddenly just needed an outlet. It just exploded like a balloon. "It certainly was the stupidest thing you have ever done."

"I am sorry." She mumbled timidly.

"Sorry? Do you even grasp what could have happened?" He stood up trying to take a deep breath so his rage wouldn't consume him completely. Klaus turned away because he couldn't look at her, he didn't know the consequences. A part of him was afraid he would snap her neck, because the aggressive wolf part inside of him wanted to punish her for getting herself in danger.

"I'll get the car closer and a blanket we can use as a cover for you so we can leave this rotten place." He grumbled.

"No!" Caroline flashed and yelped as her hand made contact with his arm because he had already stepped into the bright afternoon sun.

He crooked an eyebrow when she quickly withdrew her hand.

"Please don't leave me alone." She whispered and looked uneasily back into the deep black depths behind her while she rubbed her arms as if she tried to warm herself. The kind of fear displayed in her eyes had usually been directed at him, but right now it wasn't.

It was still unfamiliar, but when he looked at her there was this something again that tugged almost violently at his heart.

He couldn't understand why but his mind and body relaxed again. Klaus stepped back into the darkness and cupped her cheek with his hand. "I'll be back in a flash, love, don't worry."

Caroline's eyes glazed over and shaking her head wildly she put her arms around his midst.

She knew she was being childish, but she was scared…no terrified!

Klaus didn't know what was happening when Caroline buried her head in his chest.

One part of him felt like suffocating while the other relaxed and wanted nothing more but to bury his face in her hair and hold her close forever.

He pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Caroline, love." He grabbed her arms to make her look at him. "We can't stay here. We have to leave and since you don't have your ring…"

Her lip quivered. She would be totally defenceless alone. Panic suffocated her chest! Behind her luring the darkness menacingly, about to swallow her again. Klaus heart went out to her when he looked right into her frightful eyes.

The hybrid rolled his eyes and sighed. "This can't be happening! Are you strong enough to run? Really run, Caroline? To flash?"

She swallowed her tears and nodded determined.

"This is ridiculous!" Klaus muttered but shrugged out of his jacket. "Take this to cover your head. The car is about 1 mile in that direction. This won't keep every ray of sunlight away. Are you sure you want to do this?"

With a determined feature around her mouth she took the jacket. "I am not staying here alone!"

Klaus gnawed his teeth. He shook his head and before Caroline knew what was happening, he put a hand around her neck to pull her closer to him. His lips crushed hers and stole a hard but also deep kiss from them.

The impact was bigger than expected for everything fell off of both of them. There were electric shocks running through their bodies and Caroline's hands came immediately up to his neck. Klaus pulled her close and realized that he would never leave her alone again. She was his only hope, the last bit of humanity that was left inside of him. His forehead rested against hers.

"On the count of three then. One, two, three…"

They started to run, but Caroline tripped over some branches because the dizzyness was suddenly coming back. Klaus tried to pull her along but he was faster than her which made her stumble again. She hissed when the sun burned her sp within merely a second he scooped her up into his arms and cradled her against his chest. Caroline wince as the sun rays that leaked trough the jacket scorched her skin again, but she bit her lip and tried to endure the pain. Luckily it didn't take long before Klaus dropped her into the big black car with tinted windows.

He got into the driver's seat and watched with a feeling of uneasiness how Caroline healed from the burns.

"Let's get out of here!" He said and started the engine. "Here." He threw his phone into her lap. "Call Rebekah and let her know that I got you."

She nodded and did as told.

Everyone was waiting for them at the Mikaelson mansion.

As soon as they stepped through the door Elena and Bonnie rushed to her and hugged her fiercely and by doing so pushing Klaus backwards and further away from Caroline. He frowned angrily but didn't say a thing.

"Are you okay?" Elena asked looking her up and down.

"Seriously Blondie, you are all about trouble! We really need to consider locking you up!" Damon said and before anybody could complain Klaus agreed: "Just what I was thinking about!"

"Now why does this sound so smutty?" Kol laughed and almost everyone had to stifle a chuckle as well. "Well, baby brother I think you rather want to be the one locked up in the cellar. I still do happen to have an empty box!"

"Oh, come on, stop it already!" Caroline said and drew angry looks at her. Elijah grinned and stepped up to her. He stopped in front of her and looked at her with wise, but also a bit reproachful dark eyes. Klaus watched the exchange between them surprised for Caroline seemed to shrink under his big brother's eyes.

Caroline sighed and Elijah smiled hugging her quickly.

"I am fine! But can I get myself cleaned up now?" Rebekah smiled when she saw Klaus squinting.

"Come on, I'll show you. You can borrow some clothes if you want to." Caroline nodded thankfully and followed Rebekah upstairs while Klaus gaped at them. "When did they become friends?" He mumbled and Elijah patted his shoulder: "You missed a lot brother."

Klaus' face was a serious mask while he stared after the two women who ascended the stairs. When he looked around again he noticed the smug grinning faces. "What!?" He bellowed. "Don't you have something to do?"

Elena and Bonnie quickly left the room with Damon trailing after them, because he wasn't keen on getting his neck snapped again. However Kol was always loved a chance at provoking his big brother: "Oh come on big brother, we are just all very excited to figure out for how long she'll live."

Klaus was in his face in only a blink of an eye and had his hand inside Kol's stomach. "One more word and I'll tear out your liver, didn't I tell you that before? Brother?" Kol moaned as Klaus squeezed his organ before he released him and let him tumble to the floor. He wrinkled his nose at him before he left upstairs.

Kol crumbled on the floor and coughed, when he oldest brother helped him up.

"And there I thought he was about to become a bit more fun." Another cough escaped him while he held his bleeding stomach.

Elijah looked at the direction in which his brother had left. "He will always be Niklaus, Kol, but he will be challenged to go out of his ways sometimes, you'll see."

Caroline had a nice long shower that washed all the memories away. She couldn't get any more nightmares than she already had right? She thought sarcastically. She hadn't slept through a whole night for days now and since this adventure she surely wouldn't ever again, however she would have an eternity to get used to it. Oh joy!

Klaus waited for her outside of the bathroom. He sat on the bed and looked at her with some sort of insecurity. Caroline kept her distance. Her hair was still wet. "So…I think I missed your farewell party."

"Caroline…"

But she just snapped feeling tired and exhausted with all these emotions that were breaking over her now that she looked at hi beautiful face. "You just left! After everything!" She yelled accusingly.

"I thought it was for the best."

"The best for who? You moron! Didn't you think for one second how I would feel!? You slept with me and then threw me away!" she didn't want the angry tears to escape her eyes. She had promised herself: No more tears! But she couldn't help it and even though Klaus' heart wanted to reach out to her he reacted in the only way he was used to:

"It's not like you did that to me before in all your ruses!"

"You thought I could have tricked you in my condition?"

"What did you expect me to think? That you just suddenly changed your mind about me!?"

Caroline stopped in her tracks. "But I did." She said surprised about her own words.

Klaus looked at her feeling like he got caught.

"I know you don't perceive it the way I do, but there is so much more to you than your dark side. And I thought we were past that, but then no calls, no messages, no nothing! Do you know how stupid I felt? I believed that you had just played me to lure me into your bed! You promised not to hurt me again!" Her voice became louder towards the end with desperation.

"Caroline…"

"I feel so used! Tell me Klaus, was it all a lie? Everything?" There was a hurtful undertone in her voice.

"No, no!" He was in her face in an instant. Never wanted he to let her believe that she wasn't worth it. He knew that was her weakness and it would feel worse than anything he had ever done to let her believe she was inferior. "I didn't lie! Please, look me in the eye, I never lied to you. Not one second!"

Caroline turned around and stepped away. She needed a clear head and she couldn't have him close for that. "I just don't understand it! What did I do?"

Klaus shook his head and there were unfamiliar words rising in his throat like the times before when he was with her. Somehow she unconsciously influenced him and there was nothing he could do, but open up to her. "I just ran. I was scared of my own feelings!" He swallowed and added without a sound in his voice. "I am sorry!"The rarely used word burned his throat.

"It's a bit late for that don't you think?"

"I wanted to protect you!" He screamed.

"You wanted to protect yourself and you know it!" She pointed at him.

A pang of guilt hit him because some part of him nodded in agreement. But there was also this desperation running through his veins that wanted to make her understand him. "I…couldn't have lived with the sight of rejection in your eyes."

"When the hell did you see that!?"

"Oh come on! We were back in reality and I am still the bad guy here! Your friends have a big influence on you Caroline, if you admit it or not. There are a lot of things that stand in our way."

Caroline shook her head. "You ran, Klaus!"

He raised his hand in the air and moaned. He wanted to lash out, but somehow he couldn't. Her honesty disarmed him totally and so he just hung his head. "I did!"

Caroline's stiff posture slackened. Had he just given in to her?

"I wanted to sleep with you in order to get you out of my system. I never thought that this could happen to me!" He laughed wryly. "To me, of all people! I wanted to forget you Caroline, but I couldn't! And you kept calling me as if you just wouldn't let go and I couldn't understand it. You were back to normal and you were back home with all your family and friends around. I still don't know what this is all about, but…I…I…" He stepped closer. "You are a bright shining light Caroline and I simply can't keep away." She stared at him and shook her head slowly while biting her lip.

"It's not that easy, Klaus." Is it not, Caroline? Elijah was right after all!

"Caroline…" But she raised her hand and shook her head. There was a big lump inside of Klaus' throat. "I understand that I hurt you, but…tell me what is it? Is it because your pride tells you that you have to keep me in suspense or is it because of your affection towards me?" His eyes were dead serious. And there was so much tension inside him that he thought he had to burst any minute. It was these moments that he hated so much. These mortal moments when everything was dangling on a string, a thin breakable string that could snap any second. It would snap and tear his whole world apart. Caroline had him in her hand and he hated to be dependent on anyone, but the struggle over theses last days had to end!

Caroline huffed. "No one but Elijah would understand my feelings." She whispered.

He was so close in front of her that she felt his breath on her face.

It had to end and since he couldn't get her out of his system he could also just walk right into the opposite direction and try not to lose her…ever. But it meant to endure pain, a different kind of pain that he was used to. An emotional kind of pain that he had tried to avoid for centuries but right now the day had come where he found himself caught up with his humanity.

He licked his lips. "What about your feelings?" He asked and his voice was barely audible.

She gulped. His eyes wandered from her eyes to her lips. Klaus inclined his head and watched how Caroline unconsciously parted her lips. He swallowed as she closed some of the distance between them. Some invisible force drew them closer and closer together to one another. Her lips were red and so inviting. Klaus would never forget the taste of them. But instead of kissing her he just closed his eyes and rested his forehead against hers taking a deep breath.

Caroline sighed inaudible but feeling somehow more at ease since whatever was between them wasn't going head over heels yet again. The faster it goes the sooner it ends. And she didn't want that. Not this time!

Their foreheads pressed together, eyes closed and Caroline was holding him close by putting her hand on his neck.

She drew a deep breath and smelled his scent. So familiar and yet so unfamiliar.

They lingered for more seconds like that, both of them enjoying the closeness of the other with closed eyes.

Caroline was the one to break the silence. Her stomach churned as she thought about her words before she said them aloud.

"I…I want to be with you." Her voice was full of insecurity. "I think I want to give it a try, Klaus, because I have never felt safer or…"

"Or what?" He drew back to be able to look into her eyes.

"More at home. I felt like I belong." There it was again, this tinge of fear in her eyes, but she didn't back down or take anything back. She never did. She was strong, besides her wide range of feelings.

"Caroline…" He whispered and gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear while goose bumps raced down his spine.

His greatest weakness?

Or another source of strength?

Then he moved closer once more to crush his mouth to hers this time. He pulled her up and her legs wounded up around his hips.

Never breaking the kiss. Her hands played with the hair on his neck. Both started panting, pulling each other closer and enjoying their body heats.

Caroline gently bit his ear lope and the hybrid growled. He trailed kisses along her neck and Caroline started shivering. His hands slid over her back down to her ass and slowly down over her thighs. Warmth and wetness spread between her legs.

Her foot slid up and down his leg and Klaus felt his body react to her.

In the heat of the moment Caroline felt her fangs push against her gums. She grazed his skin with them and Klaus froze for a second. Caroline struggled to push them back: "I'm sorry. I don't know what happened." But Klaus was just smirking and went back to the kiss.

"Don't worry." He gushed between kisses. Their tongues danced with each other. Caroline's core started to pulsate when she felt his cock twitch in his pants. He kissed her neck and drew a moan from her that send more shivers over him.

They fell onto the bed and Klaus buried her body under his, pressing her into the mattress. He placed a leg between hers and Caroline felt the wetness pooling out of her. She writhed beneath him and couldn't get him close enough.

Suddenly Klaus felt it too. The urge to bite and to suck it all in.

His fangs pushed through and he withdrew panting. Damn it!

He sat up bending his knees while he tried to control himself.

Caroline frowned: "Klaus?" She put a hand onto his arm. "Are you okay?" Nervously she watched the black veins under his eyes retreating again.

He shook his head and tried to find the right words.

"I am not scared Klaus. I know what I want!" She tried to sooth him, trying to guess what was bothering him. He sighed and turned towards her. "Sweetheart, this need to feed, that we get…" She waited silently for him to continue while he stared into her big eyes. "…it happens when a vampire loses control because the urge to claim and with that mark his mate is stronger than his consciousness."

"Mate? Elijah talked about that. He said that when a vampire encounters his potential mate he wants to claim him and that would be a bond that runs through eternities." She looked up at him and saw something in his eyes that didn't belong there. Insecurity and maybe a bit queasiness.

"Elijah told you that? You talked to Elijah about it?" He wasn't sure if he liked that bond that had developed between her and his brother.

Caroline shrugged. "It just happened."

Klaus ran a hand through his hair ignoring his uneasy thoughts of him for now. "I have never experienced this myself, but I have heard the stories. It doesn't seem to happen often."

"What does it meant for us?"

There was so much honesty in his eyes and his voice that Caroline's heart melted. "I don't know. I have honestly no idea, what it means, but a bond that runs through eternities doesn't sound like nothing, Caroline. I am…" His voice started to shake. "…not sure if I can keep enough control to not bite you, love. And I don't know what happens then."

Caroline smiled for she wasn't afraid, not at all. There was this feeling boiling up inside her again that told her that she belonged. "Well, how about if we just find out?" But suddenly she hesitated. "Except if you don't want to be with me, of course. Then you are free to leave, but Klaus please tell me honestly and then just leave and never come back if that's the case, because believe me, I mean it and I am ready to figure out what is there between us, but if you are not then…leave." He just stared at her face and Caroline felt like bursting. Her heart pumped in her throat and screamed at her how stupid she was to give him a way out. "I don't think I can take any more half truths."

He left before he will leave again, but this time he won't return to safe you!

Shush!

She waited for what felt like an eternity for his sentence.

Klaus cupped her face to make her look up at him. "Even if I wanted to, I am not sure if I still could leave just like that. But, love, I don't want you to regret this!"

"How could I?"

"I won't change, Caroline. You can't change who I am!"

She took his face into her hands. "I know and I wouldn't try to. Well maybe try to plead for an innocent's life now and then, but Klaus listen, I do understand why you are who you are. There is not just this dark side to you, but a lot more and my heart says yes! I know you think you are not worthy of this, whatever it is, but the more I discover the more I ask myself if I am worthy of you."

He closed his eyes at the aching of his heart. "Caroline, while I was gone. I was with Kol and we…I killed a lot of people. I am not the good guy." He looked at her dead seriously and a light shiver ran over her skin. "Are you sure you can handle it?"

Caroline gulped. Could she?

"Well, you were a bit upset weren't you? Wasn't that the first killing spree after some years?"

Klaus shook his head. "You can't always keep searching for excuses for everything I do!" He sighed. "You are too good for your own self, sweetheart. But, however, the thing is that I meant what I said back at your graduation that…"

"…you intend to be my last love." She finished and her heart pounded and set her stomach on fire.

Their eyes locked and stared into each other, both searching for an answer.

"Caroline, you will always be my first choice, but are you ready?"

Her heart broke at the confession and she threw her arms around his neck catching him off guard and making him tumble over. She nodded frantically. "I am. Yes, I want to be with you Klaus, it just feels right, there's nothing more I can say to persuade you."

He put his arms around her waist and buried his face in the crook of her neck. Her fingers stroked his hair in a slow rhythm while Klaus tried to believe her.

He was a thousand years old and always believed that he wasn't worth of any kind of love. Not even Caroline could turn that feeling off in a mere second and he had suspected as much. She couldn't change him and she wouldn't determinedly try to. Even though Klaus thought he was alone and that no one could understand him, but right now she did. Of course he had always wanted her, but he had always believed that he would still have some years to adapt to that thought of them being together and then again he had never actually believed it to be more than just a fling, but now that his subconscious told him to claim her and mark her as his mate from now on till eternity, he didn't know what to make of it.

"Take your time." She said and he kissed her neck and Caroline hitched her leg up to put it around his waist. No one would ever understand how much this one sentence meant to him. He couldn't name the strange feeling that seeped through him. Was it...Was he...Could it be?
Was he truely falling for her? With everything he had in him? Deeper and deeper?

How deep could this feeling run?

He shivered.

"Klaus?"

"Mh."

"Can I stay here tonight? I don't want to be alone."

He smirked at her. "I wouldn't have let you go without a daylight ring anyway."

She chuckled. "It's dark outside silly."

"I can't see what that has to do with that fact." Caroline rolled her eyes and kissed his lips lingering there for some seconds before she made herself comfortable in his arms.

Klaus rested his chin on top of her head.

You will always be my first choice.

Caroline simply had to replay that sentence over and over again in her head while she tried to let it sink in and actually believe in it. A chill went over her and a huge smile tugged at her lips because after what felt like an eternity she felt unbelievably happy again. She fell asleep with a smile on her lips without a doubt that she wouldn't have any nightmares that night. Klaus almost felt her radiating smile himself and he kept his arms protectively and even possessively around her body. Something about her was so contagious that he tried to drown all of the happy feelings he wasn't used to. One step after the other. He closed his eyes and listened to her slow breathing.

The pack had meanwhile discovered their loss which was no surprise to them. Klaus had found her and done what had to be done...

"So, can we get started already?" The alpha asked the witch who was sitting in front of the campfire with her eyes closed. She had her legs crossed and her hands lay palms up on her knees.

She didn't respond at first and the wolf scowled at his pack. The other wolves stood a bit farer away some looking annoyed and some rather bored with arms crossed over their chests.

"Witch…" He drew the word out.

"Don't push me! You can't push nature. It comes to you when it's ready." She said without opening her eyes.

The alpha rolled his eyes, but then the witch spoke again. "Ready."

She rose slowly to her feet and stretched out her hands, again with her palms upwards. The glow of the fire casted some creepy shadows at the few people around and kept them in the dark.

When the witch stood up they came closer with curiosity and suspicion on their faces.

The wind swirled leaves through the air and it seemed to mumble something along with the witch who muttered words in an old long forgotten language. The fire crackled angrily and the flames rose high into the air. There were hisses and snarls around them but no one knew who they came from.

The wolves seemed to be hypnotized by the fire and besides its big size became the air crispy.

Shivers ran over their bodies and the smallest of the pack retreated back into the safe darkness of the shadows. The witch's features were concentrated and she looked much older in the light of the fire. Then she lowered her hands stopped speaking and listened instead.

"What now!?" The alpha demanded impatiently.

She turned around with dark determined eyes. "Now." She said slowly. "We wait."
