=D To all the guests who have reviewed: Thank you so much for your kind words! They really made me smile and so I am even more thrilled to post this chapter tonight! But of course, that also includes Ellavm18! Thanks!=)
I do hope you like the Klaroline action!;)
I hope I didn't miss too many mistakes! Apologies!
The next morning, the first thing Klaus did, was to go downstairs and draw the curtains, for Caroline still hadn't had a new ring and Klaus certainly wouldn't let her leave without one. She had insisted on calling her mum to fill her in about everything.
Liz had been worried when Caroline hadn't returned home after she had left with Bonnie. It hadn't been the first time Caroline hadn't been home for a night since she had become a vampire, but she had always called her if she ran late. However, Caroline told her what had happened leaving some not so important details out, for example the whole torture, her mother didn't need to know that. Klaus listened in on her, but why he wasn't sure. Was he just curious or maybe nervous about what Caroline could reveal? About him?
Liz had thrown a minor fit accusing Caroline of spending too much time with him. It had taken quite some ounce of his will power to keep himself from just snapping the phone. He had saved her after all! The look Caroline cast at him though was so sternly and at the same time trusting that he couldn't bring himself to act on his anger, so he had rather left the room. This power she had over him rendered him helpless and he had yet to decide if he was really truly comfortable with it…he couldn't tell.
"Mum, please, I am fine but I can't leave the house without a ring!"
"Caroline, are you sure that you are fine?"
Caroline's mouth twitched. "Yes, mum. I am fine and I promise that I will be home soon. Just please don't worry! You said yourself that Klaus won't let anything happen to me!" He drew a breath he didn't know he had been holding.
"Yeah, that happened perfectly well!" Liz retorted, but Caroline's answer was prompt and surprised Klaus despite of what he had learned about her feelings last night. "It wasn't his fault, mum! I told you that it was mine! Really! He couldn't have done anything against it! The witch had me spelled before." She was so good! And Elijah thought that she was not too good for him…
He had caught himself wishing that it was true.
Klaus drew the curtains in the living room shaking his head. He shouldn't eavesdrop!
Don't eavesdrop if you think the things you'll hear could make you uncomfortable… Elijah always said and the original grinned slightly when he remembered his brother's words. But he needed the reassurance from Caroline. It was silly and he thought pathetic, but he simply needed her to say it! It felt as if something was caressing his agitated nerves and put a cover over him. Light and warm. It started in his stomach and made him so free and careless. Was this happiness?
Kol smirked when he entered the living room. "Adapting her to your darkness, are you?"
"Shut up!" Klaus snarled and walked into the kitchen.
Very early this morning he had sent one of his men to New Orleans to get a daylight ring, that he had kept there in his mansion for 300 years. For Caroline's sake he hoped that the ring deliverer would be quick, for his however, he hoped that he would take his time so he could keep her a bit longer.
When she had finished the call she stepped downstairs and peered carefully around every corner.
Klaus met her half way and suppressed a smile when he watched her. The scene was so cute that he simply wanted to laugh out loud. The way her big eyes scanned every room from out of the safe shadows, assessing very carefully where she could safely walk around freely without burning to ashes. "Come on, sweetheart, it's fine." The smile was very evident in his voice and Caroline returned the smile. There was a bit of insecurity in her eyes, but otherwise she seemed to be okay.
"Caroline." Elijah greeted her cheerfully. "I hope you feel well this morning?"
She nodded. "I am still a bit apprehensive, but I can handle."
Elijah looked at her intently. "Memory losses aren't easy to overcome."
She flinched when he said it and looked at the floor. How was it that either him or Klaus could read her like an open book?
Klaus shot his brother a look that scolded him for bringing up this difficult problem.
"Apologies, Caroline. I didn't mean to make you feel uneasy."
For the second time this morning Caroline surprised Klaus, the big bad hybrid who knew everything. "It's fine. I know that not mentioning things doesn't make them less painful, let alone make them disappear."
Elijah acknowledged her bravery with a nod and a smile. "Very wise words indeed!"
"Which reminds me that I still wanted to talk to you." Her voice became quiet and somehow timid when she looked at Klaus.
He motioned for her to return to the living room and further back into the study.
Caroline sauntered over to the small couch, but she rather looked at the book shelf behind it, instead of sitting down. Klaus watched her admiring the old works of long dead writers.
Finally he broke the silence. "I sent someone to get you a daylight ring."
She looked at him and there was somewhat as surprise in her eyes. "Ehm…Thanks." She said and the astonishment in her voice made Klaus frown. "What? Did you think I would just leave the issue?"
She shook her head and had to wonder about herself. Yeah, what were you thinking?
"No, I just…didn't think about it…" Klaus raised his eyebrows and it was evident that he didn't believe a word she said.
There goes your excuse for not leaving his house, am I right, Caroline?
Shut up!
In wonder Klaus shook his head. "Sometimes I wonder what's going on in your mind."
Caroline's lips twitched while she walked around the couch and finally sat down staring at her hands. Her ring free hands. Klaus squinted when Caroline's eyes were on the pale skin that actually looked like a white ring from afar. He tried to guess and wasn't even aware of how right he was.
"You can stay as long as you want, sweetheart." Caroline smiled without looking at him, but it warmed his heart never the less. With every minute around her he actually became surer…
"Do you want to talk about last night?" Klaus asked.
Caroline shook her head. "Not now. Maybe later."
"I am here whenever you feel like it."
A lump rose in her throat. The more Klaus showed her of his personality the more she felt drawn to him. It was the weekend all over again and even more. Caroline tried to swallow the queasy feeling. Looking up at him from under her eyelashes without actually raising her head, a yearning to be held in his arms hit her hard. Feelings were a funny thing.
Irrational and indispensible.
Klaus was still staring at her and his eyes were kind and loving. He pulled his mouth into a crooked smile that showed his dimples. Caroline sighed inwardly because she wanted to be the one to be allowed to jump into his arms whenever she felt like it. She wanted to be the one to be allowed to touch his dimples. She wanted to be the one to be allowed to kiss him whenever and wherever the urge got just too unbearable. And most and for all she wanted to be the one he would always take care of and always look at the way he did right now.
But in order for that to happen, she had to be brave now. Come on, you have survived so many things!
She swallowed the lump and wondered how she could phrase this correctly without sounding stupid.
"Whatever it is, you can tell me!" Klaus came to kneel in front of her so they were on eye level.
A shiver ran over her body. "I…I wanted to talk about…us?" Her nose twitched and he smiled at her lovingly. Caroline watched him, at first insecure but then she tried hard not to let that smile jump over onto her lips, but somehow she couldn't help it. "What?" She chuckled nervously.
Klaus didn't stop devouring her with his eyes and it made Caroline even more nervous. Had she said something wrong?
"You know that you are absolutely stunning." He whispered hoarsely.
She blushed and didn't know what to say so she played with the hem of her shirt. But her head jerked up again at the next sentence that left his lips.
"I want to try."
"What?" She almost gasped.
Klaus looked into her eyes while he grabbed both of her hands with his. His thumbs caressing the back of her hands which made Caroline actually dizzy along with his words: "The only safe place for you is at my side, besides I actually…love holding you in my arms while you are sleeping."
She gulped. Had he just said that!?
"Caroline?" He asked when he noticed that she had gone pale.
But suddenly she jumped forward and her arms captured him in a warm embrace.
His chuckles died against her neck.
Caroline was admiring her new daylight ring that Klaus had picked for her. According to him it had belonged to a princess, but he has probably just been charming.
It was a silver ring with tiny blue and white brilliants on it. It fit her perfectly which should have surprised her more than it actually had.
"Caroline! You are doing it again!" Rebekah complained dragging a big banner behind her.
After Klaus had driven Caroline over to her mum's place so she could assure Liz of her well being Rebekah had called to inform her that they were going to decorate the hall for the dance this afternoon.
"What?" Caroline asked confused when she looked up at Rebekah who groaned and rolled her eyes. Of course the original had recognized the ring immediately and even though she was jumping up and down inwardly she still had a dance to host and had no time dealing with an absent minded infatuated baby vampire. "You are always in my way today! Come on!" She snapped her fingers in front of her face. "Wake up! Here get the banner up there!" She pointed at the roof and Caroline followed her stare, simply looking at the ceiling without moving.
"Now!" Rebekah demanded and Caroline woke up out of her trance with a start. "Okay, okay I am going!" She grabbed the piece of carton and tried to get it over to a ladder.
"Caroline, let me get the other end!"
"Thanks Matt!" She smiled at her friend.
Rebekah shook her head at them and checked them on her list. Then she saw Stefan entering the room. He smiled at her and there were butterflies emerging in her stomach. Thanks to Caroline's stupidity of getting herself abducted they had yet gotten closer again and she seriously hoped that they would get a chance. If Nik got his now, then why not her?
Stefan gave her a lingering hug before the two of them walked over to the other side of the great hall to put some distance between them and all of the others.
"So, there are rumours." Stefan smiled. "And I have the distinct feeling that they are the reason for your good mood today."
Well, that's not the only reason…"I am in a good mood?" She asked indifferently, but her lips twitched suspiciously. "What kind of rumours have you heard then?"
"It concerns a ring and a certain hybrid." Stefan smirked at her and Rebekah couldn't help the grin then.
"This town is good for nothing at keeping secrets." She played along.
"So, he's really going for it, huh?"
Rebekah nodded. "You will be surprised." She said mysteriously and nodded towards the entrance.
Caroline tried to fasten the carton beneath the ceiling when she saw someone approaching out of the corners of her eyes. She beamed when she recognized him.
"Hey. Don't you think this is just amazing?" She gestured around the room and looked down at Klaus. He had grabbed a rung of the ladder she was standing on and smirked. "Well, you certainly do look ravishing from down here." Caroline's cheeks flashed with red as Klaus cooked his eyebrows at her dress that revealed him a perfect view from down where he was standing.
"Klaus!" Caroline mouthed, but she already heard Rebekah's voice from the other side of the room.
"Oh, he hasn't just said that, has he!?"
Klaus grinned at Caroline but didn't turn around to let Rebekah see his face or she would have called his bluff immediately. "Well, little sister I advice you not to stop eavesdropping except you want to be provided with a dagger." He kept smiling at Caroline who had locked eyes with him. This stormy blue held her captive and Klaus couldn't tell when had been the last time that it had warmed his heart to see someone smiling at him. He had forgotten about the existence of this happy nuzzling feeling inside his stomach entirely.
"Oh, stop threatening me and get your better half out of here. Go get some chestnuts for the tables. She's no help today anyway…going all gooey-eyed every time she notices her ring!"
Caroline huffed and squinted angrily at Rebekah who simply shrugged with a bright smile. Klaus' chuckle made Caroline turn a deeper shade of red. "So, are you coming down on your own accord or do I have to push the ladder over?"
"Oh, you wouldn't dare to!" Caroline replied. There was a devilish grin on his face when he answered: "Wanna bet?" He held on to a step and pulled it ever so lightly to him.
Caroline shrieked. "Oh my god, I am coming, I am coming! Put it back!"
He laughed at her frantic reaction especially since nothing could have happened to her. One more proof that she was back and hopefully for good. Caroline was slowly climbing down granting Klaus another perfect view that stirred the lust inside him. She stepped onto the floor and Klaus suddenly bent her over. She chuckled caught by surprise. His lips were next to her ear and he whispered: "Be assured, my love, that I would have caught you." Warmth spread from her stomach into her chest.
She smiled wildly and pecked is cheek. Klaus returned her smile putting her back onto her feet.
Rebekah marched over to them: "Why are you still here? Come on, chop chop!"
Klaus rolled his eyes. He took Caroline's hand and led her away out of the building and towards the forest.
Rebekah watched them leave with a smile on her lips. When they were out of hearing range she turned around to Stefan: "Come on, let's get the conkers out of the car to get the tables ready." The two of them had had a great time yesterday evening as they had already gathered them themselves.
Stefan shook his head and laughed an adorable laugh.
"What?" Rebekah stared at him. "They really are getting on my nerves!"
The leaves crunched underneath their feet. Klaus held her hand in his and Caroline felt so happy that she could burst. There was just pure happiness inside her and she wanted it to never end again. Suddenly Klaus whirled her around and pushed her against a tree.
"So, you just plainly adore your new ring, don't you?" He smirked and Caroline looked down once before she looked into his eyes again. Klaus brushed his knuckles over her cheek then he bent his head and his breath tickled her ear. He had been surprised at Rebekah's comment and the next thought had been to call her lie, but one look at Caroline's flushed face told him the truth and an overwhelming feeling of disbelief and attachment had filled him.
"You do know that you make me crazy?" He mumbled and pressed a kiss on her lips. It was a slow kiss that made Caroline close her eyes. He tasted her lips as his tongue explored her soft flesh. Klaus dipped his head to get better access and a sweet moan escaped her throat. She put her hands around his neck and pulled him towards her. One of his arms came around her waist while the other hand caressed her thigh and wandered slowly upwards. It left a tingling sensation and shivers ran over her body as his fingers met her skin. They ran further up until he cupped her cute ass. Caroline pressed herself flash against his body and tried to get some air between their heated kisses.
"Klaus…" She breathed as he hitched up her leg. Caroline became wet as his hand moved over her thigh and came very close to her centre and he ever so lightly ran a finger over it. Caroline's stomach clenched in anticipation. He pressed his body against hers and trailed sweet kisses along her neck when he suddenly stopped.
His eyes shot open and he spun around shielding Caroline with his body. Caroline held on to the tree for support at the sudden feeling of loss. She was shivering and wanted nothing more than for him to continue his ministrations, but a snarl escaped his throat now.
"Klaus?"
He stood still in front of her and Caroline looked over his shoulder, but she couldn't see anything or anyone.
"Show yourself, coward!" He growled.
Then she heard the faint footsteps on the dry ground. After some seconds a tall figure came into sight.
"Tyler!" Caroline said and she thought that she should feel ashamed to have gotten caught like this, but she didn't.
Tyler's expression was full of repulsion and disgust when he looked from Klaus' at Caroline.
"What are you doing here?" Caroline asked.
Klaus and he stared at each other as if they wanted to stare each other down. No one moved.
"I came back because I had to see it for myself." Tyler's eyes went from his enemy to Caroline's dishevelled hair and back again. The wolf inside him looked as if he was about to show his teeth.
"Caroline what are you doing?"
Caroline took a step forward. "Tyler, I…"
"You can't be serious! It is Klaus!" He pointed at the hybrid who was still protectively standing in front of Caroline.
"What are you doing here? I thought you left town." Caroline mumbled.
"Caroline, do you know what you are doing?" Tyler was screaming and emphasized every word. Klaus muscles tensed even more. "Don't you dare shout!" He snarled and Caroline put a hand on his arm. In a calm voice she asked: "Tyler, why did you come back?"
"I can't just let you walk into hell!"
She snorted. "You sound insane!"
"I am the insane one?" Tyler shook his head. "You shouldn't have saved her." He said and pointed at Klaus. Caroline gasped and her hand tightened infinitesimally around Klaus' wrist. It felt like someone had just pinched her heart with a needle as it clenched. She stared at him while her mouth dropped. Anger rose inside Klaus and his face became darker and even sinister.
"What are you saying? I thought you were travelling the country with that bitch." His velvet voice dripped of danger, but Tyler just stared back at him saying calmly: "Caroline would have been fine. I would have gotten her out of here after the plan was through."
Klaus laughed wryly. "Oh would you? Where does that leave Hayley?"
"She will be your doom." Tyler went on with a steady voice that cut through Caroline with every word he said.
"Go out of my sight before I rip you apart!" Klaus snarled and it was plain obvious that he meant every word. His muscles twitched and he looked even taller than he already was.
His opponent twisted his mouth as if he wanted to say something else, but he decided against it and just left the sound of swirling leaves behind after he left. Klaus kept staring after him never the less, until he was sure that Tyler had really left, just then did he turn around to look at Caroline.
There was confusion on her face and a fine streak of pain. Klaus' eyes changed from anger to a calculating expression. Caroline figured that he was trying to find out what she thought.
"Caroline?" His hands cupped her face and there was a note of pain in his voice.
She nodded at him. "I am fine." But her eyes betrayed her. Klaus sighed and pressed her to his body. Caroline's head dropped helplessly against his shoulder.
"Let's get out of here!" He ordered quietly.
Klaus slammed the front door of the mansion.
"Who does he think he is!?" He yelled.
"Klaus." Caroline tried to calm him down while she followed him into the living room where he poured himself a glass of Bourbon. "I should have killed him!" He downed the glass in one gulp.
"I am glad you didn't." Caroline whispered and suddenly his eyes were screwed tight fixating her. He flashed over to her until he was merely an inch away. "Why? Tell me just one good reason?"
There was a second of wariness inside her, before she decided that she had nothing to fear. She straightened and looked him straight in the eye. "He is till my friend."
"After everything he did to you?"
Suddenly Caroline grew angry because she needed a way to express her hurt, just like Klaus needed a vial for his anger. Tyler's accusation had stung and if she didn't scream she would cry and she definitely had had enough of crying! She felt like she had to defend Tyler: "Everything he did was because of you! Because of one of your stupid plans!" She yelled.
He stared her down with an angry line on his forehead. "Really? I told him to cheat on you then?"
Caroline blinked. She had thought about asking Klaus about that fact and she was sure that he wouldn't lie to her. The fact that Tyler had cheated on her still hurt even though they weren't together anymore. It had been another friend who had misused her trust.
"And what about I shouldn't have saved you!?" Klaus lashed out and Caroline turned around to the window. She gnawed her teeth. Did Tyler hate her so much that he wanted her dead?
Anger boiled up inside her and rushed through her veins.
"He neither deserves you nor your tears!" Klaus spat and Caroline whirled around.
"But you think you do!?" She screamed.
Klaus' face fell and she regretted her words instantly. Her throat swelled as she saw how his face went blank with a hard expression in his eyes. She thought he was about to snap her neck but he just turned around and left. Caroline was startled by herself. How could she have said that?
She knew that was exactly what he thought and it would hurt him most, but the words had just tumbled out of her. Suddenly a jolt of panic shot through her and she hugged her stomach when her guts clenched.
What if she had ruined everything now? He would leave and never return!
Her eyes grew wide and her breathing accelerated freezing to the spot.
"What the hell is going on down here?" Kol entered the room and frowned at Caroline.
"Kol." She mouthed. He squinted at her and came slowly closer examining her like a lunatic.
He opened his mouth but closed it again reformulating his sentence. "Well, darling I am not sure what is going on but you look like you are about to faint."
"We had a fight!" She whispered, her eyes unfocused.
"I am sure everyone heard that!"
Suddenly Caroline woke out of her trance. It had not been their first fight, but this one had been more severe than any other.
"I have to go after him!" She whispered and sprinted for the front door.
"Er…Caroline…" Kol started and she turned around at the door. "What?"
"He is in the garden." She frowned. He hadn't left? She had told him before to simply leave if he didn't want to be with her anymore and after this serious fight she had thought he would, but he was still here?
Without another word she started walking.
Kol looked after the girl who seemed to be pulled by an invisible string into the direction of the garden. He had originally thought that he would leave this rotten town as soon as possible again but with these developments it seemed to become more and more intriguing to watch his brother struggle with his emotions. He didn't understand it though, Nik had always wanted to get her laid and now that she was at his feet he didn't quite enjoy it as much. He could have just have his fun with her and then move on, but somehow he didn't and Kol didn't get it. Of course Elijah had that whole thing already mapped out. He had patted Kol's shoulder, which he hated, and told him that although he might be a thousand years old he was still not mature enough to understand this. He hated that his brother played the father figure now and then. Not mature enough!
He scoffed while he made his way over to the kitchen from where he had a perfect view into the garden.
Klaus paced in front of the fountain and Caroline slowly approached him.
"I am so sorry. I shouldn't have said that!" She whispered and Klaus snorted. "Believe me I never meant what I said!"
"You said it none the less."
"I felt like I had to defend him, because he was once a very important part in my life and I thought he still was my friend." Klaus had his back to her. "I have no proof that he cheated on me but your word and it's hard for me to just let go of Tyler yet, as a friend of course."
There was a silence between them that grew and grew and Caroline's thoughts raced through her mind. What was the right thing to do? To say?
"It's what makes you so special." His voice cut the air but was barely audible.
Caroline stepped around him and stood close in front of him. "What?" She didn't understand what he meant.
"You never lose hope. It's what keeps your light burning. You believe everyone can be saved."
She shook her head. "No, not everyone." Her hand cupped his cheek to make him look at her. "But you can and I am sorry for what I said. I think you do deserve more than what you think." His expression was vacant and almost hopeless and Carline's heart went out to him.
"How do you know that?"
"Because if you were just as horrible then why did I fall for you? Why am I still alive? Why do you still have your family? No one left you, Klaus, not permanently. And what about Stefan? He is still around." His heart was about to burst and he didn't believe his ears, his eyes turning glassy.
"What?" Time seemed to have stopped.
Caroline stepped closer and there was so much kindness in her eyes that he could hardly look at her.
"Klaus, I think…I love you." Her voice broke and Klaus looked shell shocked. Hs heart beat pounded loudly in his ears that he didn't hear anything else. "I don't believe you." He whispered and his voice broke as well.
Caroline took his hand. "Then let me show you."
Klaus followed her without any restraint.
When she closed the door behind them she felt a bit nervous. She had admitted it!
This afternoon she had realized that he'd do anything to keep her save. Even though he didn't believe it or if he didn't want to admit to it, there was something between them and he wanted it as much as her.
Caroline stepped onto her tiptoes and ran a thumb over his lips before she kissed them sweetly. Klaus closed his eyes and took everything in. Her sweet lips that moved against his. Then the taste of her tongue that slipped into his mouth slowly exploring it. A shiver went down his spine when her hands moved from his lower back upwards until they played with his hair.
Her tongue teased his until he met hers full on. She pressed her body against his and she moaned against the sweet skin of his neck. A hot wave of arousal washed over his body.
His instincts kicked in and he wrapped his arms safely around her back pulling her up.
While he carried her over to the bed he felt her breasts press against his chest and his gut clenched with anticipation. Caroline felt his arousal against her thigh and she moaned deliciously.
Klaus let her down onto the mattress and covered her body with his. His hand slid down her side and under her dress. Like before it caressed her thigh and Caroline felt warmth spreading inside her and settle between her legs. His tongue was at her neck and she revelled in the feeling that spread through her entire body. His hand made her crazy while she grew very wet. Stretching out beneath his body Klaus escaped a moan as well.
Her hands pulled his shirt up and over his head and just then she felt how the velvet skin burned under her fingertips. Klaus felt desire building up inside of him and he had to rid her of her dress quickly.
Before she even noticed how he had opened her bra he already threw it behind him.
He sat back on his knees and just looked at her for a while. Caroline supported herself on her elbows and bit her lip, but the uneasy feeling she expected never came. His eyes were admiring her and nothing more.
Tonight they were just taking in the sight and enjoying it.
He climbed back over her and kissed her lips. "You are beautiful, my angel. If I was a believer I'd say heaven send you." Caroline kissed him fiercely and streched out beneath him.
Klaus grew even harder as he felt her hands opening his jeans. He got rid of them as quickly as possible.
He started to work on her breasts then taking her nipple into his mouth. He bit down with his blunt teeth and Caroline gasped. Her moans were the sweetest sounds he had ever heard. Klaus was hot for her but he struggled to hold himself back. Caroline felt his cock at her centre and the two last pieces of clothing were killing her. She tugged at his boxers.
Klaus was caught up in licking and devouring her breasts that he hadn't noticed how desperate she was growing under his hands. He smirked and ripped her underwear to shreds, but before Caroline could react to it she cried out and her hands fisted in the sheets because his hand suddenly covered her clit while his mouth licked a wet trail down her stomach his other hand still massaging her breast. His finger rubbed against her and heat pulsated inside her. Another cry left her as his tongue suddenly replaced his finger. He pushed her legs apart and Caroline reflexively bucked up her hips, but Klaus held her in place.
"Easy there, love." He whispered against her sex and the sweet sensation made her inner muscles clench. She panted and was afraid that she couldn't hold it any longer as his tongue flicked inside her. She grabbed his head and pulled him up. "Klaus, I need you!"
He kissed her again and the next thing Caroline noticed was how he pushed into her. He groaned as her muscles contracted around him. Her fingers bore into his back and his breathing grew laboured. His growl sent shivers down her spine and she started to move her hips against him.
He felt her breasts against his chest and couldn't get close enough. He had to fill her whole and he drew out of her and pushed back in again and again. The desire to devour her whole body was new to him along with the goose bumps that shook his whole body. His gut clenched and he felt close to the edge when his fangs pushed through. The nearer he came to his climax the more he lost control but strangely he didn't mind. He just needed her writhing body beneath him and her sweet moans.
Caroline watched his transformation and she felt her own urge to sink her fangs into his neck rise. She mirrored his reflection and her veins popped out under her eyes. Oh yes how she wanted him!
Then his lips were next to her ear. "Come on, have at it, my love." And he wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her upwards with him never stopping his thrusts.
Caroline's breath hitched and she all she heard was his heartbeat. She could almost see how the blood rushed through his veins underneath his skin. She licked his neck first before she bit down.
Klaus gasped at the feeling of her fangs perforating his skin and Caroline moaned. His blood flowed into her mouth and it was the sweetest thing she had ever tasted. The arousal inside her spiralled upwards and when Klaus bit her own neck she couldn't hold it any longer. Explosions shook her whole body while she sucked his blood. He changed the angle ever so slightly and pushed more violently making her cry out. His blood streamed down her chin.
Klaus had never felt anything similar. His cock grew even more rigid if it was even possible and her warm blood inside his mouth, how it slowly travelled down his throat drove him mad. He quickened his pace and his thrusts became violent. He ravaged her neck, biting into it again and again, when he suddenly felt her muscles contract around him. And he followed her over the edge. He exploded inside her and started to tremble while his vision somehow blurred.
Caroline wrapped her legs around his back holding him inside her and he wrapped his arms around her as well holding onto her for support. She kept swivelling her hips while they slowly came down from their height.
A burning sensation shook their bodies before they stilled. Their breathing became normal again and Klaus lowered her to the bed. When he pulled out of her Caroline winced at the loss.
He pulled the covers over her and took her into his arms, holding her close against his chest. His mind was clouded and he tried to figure out what had just happened. He fastened his arm around her midst as if he needed the contact. He felt like he was holding on to his sanity.
Caroline snuggled up against his chest which he usually wouldn't allow anyone in the aftermath, but he felt a sudden urge to keep her as close as possible and he succumbed to the feeling. For the first time he gave in to humanity, to his feelings.
This had been a new experience. He had bedded women a thousand times, probably more, considering his age, but it had never felt so intense.
Hell, he had never blood shared before during an orgasm. He would have never allowed it usually.
Caroline was still shaking with aftershocks and she buried her face in the crook of his neck pressing her lips to it for a second or two.
"That was…" She tried to find the words whispering against his shoulder. "…earth shaking."
Klaus chuckled at her choice of words.
The sound was so adorable that Caroline flashed a dashing smile at him. He pushed her hair out of her face. Caroline reached up to kiss the corner of his mouth.
There were trails of blood everywhere and it turned them incredibly on again.
But Klaus just reached for her neck to examine the mess he made. "I am sorry, my love, did I hurt you?" The wound was slowly closing under his scrutinizing eyes. Caroline shook her head. "I didn't feel any pain, just pure…desire. Klaus, this was magnifying. Do you think that's the mating aftermath?" He pressed a kiss onto her now healed wound. "Probably."
"What are the stories? You said you heard stories about it?"
He turned onto his back taking her with him. Klaus put his arm over his head while his other caressed Caroline's back. She was lying on top of his chest and watched him curiously and Klaus couldn't help himself, but he just had to smile at her.
"Well, the stories, my dearest are that mates share a deep bond, but you already know that. Other vampires are sometimes somehow able to sense it, but I have no idea how. There are stories about how mates stay together until their deaths, but there are also stories about some simply meeting up every decade or so. It is said that you feel it when your partner dies, some have followed the other, others have lost their minds until they had to be killed or they would have exposed the whole supernatural world, others just lived their lives as before, well at least I think they did. But I don't think they have ever had another permanent mate and as I said it is very rare. Elijah encountered two vampires who had said aura around them. I never did."
Suddenly he pulled himself up and looked at Caroline. "I should have probably told you before."
But Caroline smiled. She reached for his face. "I am not scared Klaus. Even if it was rash, I just know that there is a strong pull between us. I probably couldn't have resisted anyway and I know you feel it too." She put her palm onto his hard and Klaus swallowed hard. He covered her hand with his before he lay back down.
How could she not be scared when he was?
Not necessarily for him but for her.
After this night he could have never have her regret anything.
"A penny for your thoughts?" She smiled.
He cleared his throat and he wasn't sure where the words came from, or why he told her the utter most truth, but it just came out in a rush: "You may not be scared, my love but I am. I am scared that you might regret this because I sure as hell couldn't live with that."
Caroline shook her head. "I realized something today. You will always protect me from my enemies, but more importantly from my friends as well. You tried to protect me from Tyler way before, because in your eyes he wasn't treating me correctly and I just realized that you just did what you had done, because you didn't know it better. I was hurt but you just wanted me to get what you thought I deserve."
Her heart was in her throat now and she didn't know how to deal with it. "No one has ever cared about me that way. I didn't know that there was more but there is, isn't there? You knew I could be better and you tried to make me realize it."
Klaus' eyes glazed over not believing that she had noticed what he had tried to do for her.
He hadn't known the right way to show her, he just knew the ways of violence and pain, always had…
"Don't make me sound like the good guy. At some point I really just wanted to get you into my bed."
"So you really do get everything you want, don't you?" He chuckled and Caroline added: "Don't worry, you are not the good guy, you are the villain in this play, but there is enough space in your heart for your family." Klaus looked at her like he had never looked at anyone before in his life, with respect and gratitude.
"And you." He whispered. "When all of this is over, my love, I will take you to see the world and I will lay it down at your feet."
Caroline stared into his eyes. She stretched and kissed him passionately. The arousal she had felt earlier came back and licked at her insides causing her core to pulse and produce sweet wetness and she could definitely feel Klaus' growing again.
