Chapter 5!
Sasuke had left the village. He'd packed up and left them all, and worst, he'd left her unconscious on a park bench all night when she'd gone to confront him. Anger sadness, helplessness raged inside her.
Her memories had returned to her, albeit not entirely, she remembered how she'd initially felt about Sasuke, and who she had truely loved that time, now she just didn't know. Would she continue to love the sweet red headed boy from her past, now the beast she'd seen only days ago? Would she continue loving the man who had just deserted his village, comrades, and friends?
She clawed at her arms at the thought. She had to see him, she had to find Gaara and straighten everything out before she could decide a damn thing. Naruto and the Sasuke retrieval group had long since set out. Sakura could only wait for their return. Couldn't she? Her father's promise flashed through her mind. She had trained for years and years to find her mother. She wondered if her body still recalled that training. She sprinted to her house determined to do something, anything but what she had been since her memories were lost.
Quickly gathering the little she would need, she rushed after the retrieval team.
She was much too far behind and was glad her skills hadn't dulled too far down. She was still the cold blooded ninja her father had turned her into. She soared from tree to tree hoping for at least some glimpse of Sasuke, hoping something could pull her from the muddled cloud she was drowning in.
Landing quietly in a peculiar section of forest she snuck quietly through a scene much like a battlefield. Trees had been uprooted and dirt was thrown about roughly. She nearly screamed coming upon Choji in a form she was very unfamiliar with. Despite her rush, she stooped beside the now slender man and performed minor healing techniques before moving on. A very similar situation followed with several of the others she had only just seen set off to find Sasuke, defeated left and right. Doing her best to put them higher than the brink of death they tottered on she pushed forward.
Dropping down near by and old clearing she'd remembered bring in the area, she froze. There was a slight crunch beneath her feet that not of a forest landscaping. Looking down gold and brown glittered up at her. Sand. There was sand sliding through the forests. How? Why? There was only one man who came to her mind when she thought of sand.
Flickering between the spaces in the dense trees, she caught a glimpse of red and bright green through the corner of her eyes. Lee had gone with the team hadn't he? She rushed towards the green clad boy, not fully understanding what the red she'd seen had been.
She slid into a clearing where Sakura watched a small patch of sand descend from above her. Gaara who had an unconscious Lee propped upon his shoulder let the sand dissipate before he stepped to the ground and met her eyes.
Only silence followed as the two continued to stare into each others eyes.
"Gaara.." She whispered cautiously. Last she'd seen him, he was rampaging through her village and nearly killed her. Logically speaking he was there to help since he was carrying Lee around instead of crushing him to pieces. He only remained silent.
"Are you really him?" She whispered again on the verge of tears. He lowered Lee to the ground gently and let him lean against the thick bark of a nearby tree.
He again offered no response. Upon her first step forward he stopped her, speaking suddenly.
"What are you doing here." He asked softly, yet his voice showed displeasure.
"I...I came after Sasuke, and you." She whispered again. His eyes widened a fraction too quick for her to notice and he turned back to lee.
"Go home, You aren't needed." Gaara offered.
"NO! Not without an explanation!" She screamed. Gaara turned to her his eyes narrowing slightly.
"An explanation? Under what circumstance do I owe you anything at all? These past years, an explanation could have saved me from the years of torture I endured just to keep living. My uncle attempted to assassinate me, my only and closest friend vanished without a trace, and upon being reunited, hadn't any idea who I was. I had nothing in all but a matter of seconds." He began to growl out dangerously.
"NO! I never meant to leave you! You know that! You knew that! There was no where for me to run! No where to hide! No other friends no other family. I would have died at your side then and you knew that! I held you till the very last second until my father tore me from your side and the village. I returned to an empty house! To a friendless village! I had nothing! I was ready to die by your hands as long as it meant something!" She screamed back.
Gaara pushed her up against a tree glaring at her.
"You..." He seethed out. Her smell filled his nostrils sending his heart pounding painfully and Shukaku rioted inside of him. Sakura glared back latching onto his body just as he motioned to move away. Her hands gripped into the material covering his back.
"I won't let you leave again!" She yelled again. Gaara glared even harder.
"I never left." He said bitterly.
He vanished into a swirl of sand and reappeared at Lee's side.
"Why?! Why couldn't I remember anything about you? I've spent so many years dreaming about the past with you even so every time my eyes would open the memory would vanish and I felt so cold and so alone." She said clutching her arms and falling to her knees.
"I don't know perhaps you should ask yourself this." He said before taking Lee and vanishing again. Sakura clutched her fists tightly reluctantly turning to return to the village. She'd get her answers anyway she needed to and she'd see him again. This time he couldn't evade her.
I know these are super awkwardly short but because they overlap with the legit plot of the show i didn't really wanna make pple read through all that so yea. ill update as soon as i can. :)
