Hey guys, so I dropped a bottle of vodka on my laptop... Wouldn't recommend it!
So yeah that's my excuse, (I actually have one this time!)
So a fair bit of Sparia in this chapter, I get the feeling that's what people want.
Reviewer shout out (because your reviews really do mean a lot to me, so thanks so much!)
ZombiepiEs, UngluckLiebhaber, Tascar19, Forever Courage, miniprocrastinator and the anonymous reviews as well!
Oh and also based on the reviews I kinda cut Toby out a bit in this one, which I was more than happy to do.
Enjoy!
Pathetic fallacy; she's always hated those words.
Hated the notion.
The very idea that the weather would reflect the current situation, seemed nothing but ridiculous.
But as she stood in her living room with her arms wrapped tightly around her best friend; the rain slamming down on the roof seemed perfect.
Because right now her mind was a swirling mess of emotions, much like the skies above her.
And she can't help but feel that this wouldn't have happened on a clear night.
And she knows it's ridiculous.
But she wont convince herself otherwise.
Because if she can blame the weather, then she wont blame herself.
She wont blame Aria.
And right now she needs something else to focus her anger on.
And the stormy clouds above are providing her with that.
So she silently curses the lightening, as her grasp tightens on her shaking friend.
Making a mental note to never question the concept of pathetic fallacy again.
Because right now the weather is nothing but terrifying.
Much like the situation in front of her.
She's not sure how long they stood there, Aria muttering apology after apology in her ear, before she finally pulled out of the hug.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so..." Aria continued to mutter, as Spencer placed her hands on Aria's shoulder.
"Aria, hey..."
"No!" Aria yelled pushing Spencer away, wrapping her arms around herself, "No you don't understand!"
"What don't I understand?" Spencer questioned after she regained her balance.
"I lost! I had to win, and I... I lost, I tried Spence I promise I tried, I kept going as long as I could; he was too big, too strong, I... I couldn't do it, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." She trailed off sobs taking over her body as she tried to avoided eye contact.
"What do you mean you had to win, what are you talking about?" Spencer asked desperately, trying to comprehend the smaller girls ramblings.
"You need to call Hannah and Emily!" She announced suddenly, as though only just realising, "We need to call them now, I need my phone..."
"Aria just calm d..."
"No!" She yelled cutting her off, "We need to call them now! There not safe! I lost! They're not safe!"
"Aria just stop!" Spencer yelled, moving forward and grabbing her, stopping her from pacing. "What are you going on about?"
"I... I..." She trailed off, her eyes darting from left to right, looking for some sought of an escape (where too, she's not sure).
"Aria, trust me okay?"
And those words were all it took for Aria to give in.
Because realistic she had nothing to lose;
Because she already lost.
And as far as she knew, A was coming after them either way.
So she had to tell Spencer that they were in trouble.
All because she couldn't win a fight, not even to save her friends.
So they deserve to know why A was coming after them;
She owed them at least that much.
She pulled out her phone, finding the text that had been haunting her for the last week, handing it over without making eye-contact. Spencer stared at the phone, desperately trying to piece everything together.
"We need to call them," Aria begged desperately, breaking the awkward silence that had fallen over them, "please."
Spencer looked up at the desperate look in her friends eyes, and for the first time since she knocked on the door, she saw the blood dripping down Aria's face.
She saw the swelling over her eye.
The violent shivers that were racking her small frame.
And in that moment, she decided everything else could wait.
Because her best friend was hurt.
And she was going to fix that.
"C'mon Aria, let's get you cleaned up," She said softly wrapping her arm around her shoulder.
"Spence, we need to call them!" She insisted desperately, trying to grab her phone.
"Hey, look, Toby's going to do it right now okay?" She answered looking over at Toby with a pointed look, who nodded silently, grabbing Aria's phone, "See, Toby's going to call them okay?"
Aria nodded mutely, not taking her eye's of Spencer's boyfriend as he began to scroll through her contact list.
"Let's get you warm okay?" Spencer whispered quietly as she directed Aria up the stairs.
By the time they got to the bathroom, Aria lips were already turning a light shade of purple and the only sound in the room was the light chattering of her blood stained teeth. Spencer turned on the shower, adjusting it to a warm temperature, before gently guiding Aria's tank-top over her head. She silently winced at the sight of her friends body, but decided not to say anything.
"Do you need a hand?" She asked softly as Aria tried to make her way into the shower.
The smaller girl nodded immediately, and in the moment Spencer knew how broken her friend was.
Because she'd spent the last week trying to convince everyone she was 'fine'.
Convince them she didn't need any help.
So for her to admit it.
Especially in the this situation, was extremely telling.
And it was for that reason that Spencer didn't remotely hesitate.
She immediately helped Aria into the shower (ignoring the fact that she was still wearing her pyjamas).
She gently took the hair tie out of Aria's her, trying not to injure the girl further. Spencer slowly started to run her fingers through her hair, not taking her eye's of the smaller girl, as she moved her right hand to wipe the dry flood off her face. Aria began to cough as she felt something catch in her throat, Spencer wincing as she saw the red bile that spilt out of her mouth. Concern building up inside her regarding the seriousness of her best friends injuries.
"I'll grab some towels, are you alright to... you know..."" Spencer trailed off awkwardly, not wanting to make her friend uncomfortable.
"Take the rest of my clothes off?" Aria answered with a slight smile (attempting to reassure her friend), "Yeah I'll think I'll be fine."
Spencer smiled slightly before jumping out of the shower.
It took her less then three minutes for her to go into her room, dry off, change, and return with a dry towel for Aria.
"Aria?" She asked as she entered the bathroom, closing the door behind her, "You okay?"
When she's met with nothing but silence, she immediately stepped forward pulling the shower curtain open.
And the sight broke her heart.
Her best friend crouched in the corner of her shower, knees pulled up to her chest (Her clothes discarded on the shower floor).
Staring at nothing, as the water pored over her head.
She didn't even flinch as Spencer opened the curtain.
Spencer reached over and turned the water off, before crouching down in front of her.
"Aria?"
She jumped slightly as she felt a hand on her knee, before turning to Spencer with tear filled eyes,
Staring at her friend for a moment before the tears began to fall.
"I can't do this any more Spence," She cried, and it had taken her over a month to get to the point of the admittance, and while it killed Spencer to hear it, she knew it was something Aria needed to say.
"You don't have to do this any more Aria," Spencer implored as she wrapped a towel around her friend.
"I'm sorry I lied, I wanted to tell you, but A was there, A is fucking everywhere. And after everything you did, and everything everyone else did, I couldn't let them hurt you, I couldn't risk it!" Aria sobbed desperately.
"Hey It's okay, It's alright," Spencer said desperately wrapping her arms around Aria.
"I'm so sorry Spence, for everything," She whispered as she rested her head on her best friends' shoulder, "I'm just, I'm so sorry."
And as much as she wanted to be angry at her friend, she couldn't.
Because she knew what it was like to be stuck in A's game.
They all did.
And she's made the same choice Aria did in the past (admittedly not on such a large scale, but still).
Because they all know A's threats had to be taken seriously.
And they'd all dealt with consequences, when they weren't.
So she couldn't be angry with the smaller girl.
As much as she wanted too.
"You're not on your own anymore Aria," Spencer reassured her as she held her tight and whispered in her ear. "I forgive you."
And Aria felt the weight of the world lift off her shoulders with those three words.
Because those words meant she still had her best friend.
Those words meant she wasn't alone.
Those words meant she still had people looking out for her.
It meant she could let her walls down.
"Spence?" She looked up with a look a desperation and contempt in her eyes, hands wrapped around her purpling rib cage, "I think I broke something."
And Spencer looked at her with an incredulous stare.
Because she knew Aria was in bad shape,
But it was the first time she'd actually admitted it.
So she offered the girl a sad smile, as she lead her into her bedroom.
"Yeah Aria, I think you might have."
Okay So I'm thinking this story might be nearing it's end, I'm thinking I could just leave it at that, Or should I do another couple of chapters addressing Aria's injuries (and of course more sparia)?
Please let me know what you think.
