ch. 9 Friends?

Kanda strode angrily down the halls, not ignoring a chance to glare at any living soul unfortunate enough to cross his way or stupid enough to actually glance at him. Now, one might wonder who, in their right minds, would look towards the new exorcist, especially when he was in a bad mood. The answer for that would be right behind him, where a tear-stained Lenalee was gently dragged by the hand.

A few minutes ago, Yuu received news of when he would be able to go back to the Asian Base to have his katana remodeled for him. He was told he had to wait for his new teammate who Tiedoll himself had appointed, someone going by the name of Noise Marie. Weird name. However, said individual had yet to come back from his latest mission. Roy had informed him he would send for him the second the other would arrive.

A bit annoyed and having nothing better to do, Kanda started wondering around, silently hoping to not run in the little exorcist girl again. Since they first met, she seemed to have developed a habit of running into him and not leave him alone. As you would imagine, he didn't really appreciate all the attention. At all.

As he was walking around in one hall he hadn't visited before, the air was suddenly filled with a loud and painful scream. He winched and instantly darted in the direction it was coming from. When he was just a few feet away from a huge door, however, two figures stepped in the way, grabbing him by the arms and pulled him back. "What the-"

He turned around to see who had the balls to not only stop him but drag him away and was faced with an eerily familiar form. His whole body froze, eyes going wide and mouth slightly opened in shock. CROW.

He was suddenly brought back to reality when he was dropped to the floor a bit forcefully. "You should know better than to disobey orders and trespass, boy" one of them said as he lifted his hand, rows of card popping from behind, ready to surround the small figure and, undoubtedly, deliver an exaggerated large amount of pain.

"That won't be necessary" The two CROWs straightened theyr form, putting away the cards and saluted towards the door. Kanda took that cue to stand back up and glance in the same direction. Right in front of the now opened door was a tall man wearing a superior air that made him sick. "Sir! He was trespassing!" "Oh, but I'm sure he didn't know any better, after all, he is rather new, aren't you boy?"

The man was now looking straight into his eyes. Were it anyone else, they would have probably looked away trembling their sorry asses, however this was Kanda Yuu, he didn't give two shits. So, he did the only logical thing and glared right back, offering an extra scoff in response.

His staring partner seemed to find this reaction quite amusing as he smirked "Well, don't we have some guts here" "Show some respect!" one of the CROW's yelled, slapping the young exorcist over the back of his head. This made him redirect his glare.

"Now, now, there's no need to get violent. Since it is pretty obvious you are new, let me explain a few things" The man in suit said as he came closer, straightening his pose even more, adapting an air of superiority. "I am Malcom C. Levellie, a secretary of Central and I am here for some very important business. Was it any other occasion, you would have been severely punished for almost intervening, but the session for now has just ended and I am in a good mood, so I will let it pass, however do be sure to not get in the way again. And now, if I may, what is your name?"

For a few seconds the hall was quiet, and one of the CROWs seemed ready to throw another slap, but then the boy spoke "Kanda Yuu"

A flash of recognition past the secretary's eyes as he smirked, bending a bit to better see the child's face. "Oh? Yuu, is it?" The boy immediately felt a chill run down his spine, but held his own, keen on walking over the other's nerves as much as possible. "Well would you look at that. And here I thought the old coot would keep you next to him at least another few years. Kanda felt his brow twitch at the nickname thrown at his master. Who the fuck did this guy think he was!? "Well, my master" he said hardening the word master "deemed me strong enough to take on missions on my own"

Levellie widened his smirk and motioned for the CROW members "Well, I trust I'll be hearing about you, Yuu" "It's Kanda" for you, he absentmindedly added in his head. The other eyed him curiously "Kanda, how interesting, I don't recall you had another name" "Well seems you recalled wrongly" "Watch your tone!" Damn that CROW was getting annoying. The secretary held a smug smile as he started walking away.

The second he turned the corner, Kanda went to see what was with the room. Upon entering, he was met with a shocking view. In the middle was a crying Lenalee with two nurses finishing to bandage her legs. When she heard him enter the room, she looked up, shaking, thinking Levellie had come back, but upon noticing it was none other than Yuu, on instinct, she lunged forward and hid behind him, grabbing and not letting go of his shirt.

Surprised, he yelped and wanted to shake her off but then he noticed someone he was really not expecting. Nero Fox was staring right at him, a metal folder in his arms and a unreadable expression. After staring at him, the boy felt a wave of anger and quickly turned around, grabbing the girl's hand and stomping away, ignoring the yells from within the room "Go bite me!" He screamed back and quickened his phase.

And that's how they ended up inside an empty wooden room. Lenalee looked a bit confused "Where are we?" She whispered in a strangled voice, no doubt the result of screaming her lungs out. "It's a meditation room" She blinked, waiting for more explanation, but it never came. Instead, he pulled her on the side and told her to sit down. She did and saw him do the same two feet away.

As he took his place in a weird position he said "You have to sit like this" she watched him closely and tried her best to mimic the pose. When she did, he explained the basics "Relax, close your eyes and meditate. You have to clear your head and be at peace. It helps"

Lenalee stared at him a few moments before smiling and nodding. As he closed his eyes, she sniffed and wiped her face with the trim of her dress before following his example.

Two hours later found Kanda carrying a sleeping Lenalee on his back, trying to find her room that Roy had pointed to after giggling like an idiot for a good five minutes. "Stupid scientist and his stupid directions" He muttered entering his own room and placing her on the bed "I swear, it's easier to find differences between identical twins that someone's room in this place!"

After throwing a blanket on the sleeping girl, he went back outside to go and grab something to eat. And that was how Kanda first found out just how unnaturally fast gossips traveled through the Order "Oh~ Kanda, I heard you became rather friendly with miss Lee" Saan chuckled at the young boy's startled then angry expression "Shut up and get me my food!" "Touchy"

"Kanda!" He turned around, ready to snap at a word's notice. "Roy was looking for you, go see him after you eat ok!?" The one who delivered the message was Michael, apparently the second in command of the science division, right under Roy who, surprisingly was the section leader. It was surprising, because the other seemed really laid back, especially when compared to the other people who were frantic all the time.

Yuu nodded and went to finish his meal. Half an hour later, he was patiently waiting for Roy who was talking to none other than Nero, whom he sent a death glare. The other tried his best to ignore it. As soon as the talk was over, the scientist came next to him and sat down "Ok, thanks for coming; I wanted to, firstly, give you this" he handed the boy a pretty big box "and tell you that Noise called in and he's going to arrive around midnight. When he comes, I'll talk to him and, depending on his wounds, you guys can leave sometime tomorrow. Does that sound alright with you?" "Yeah, thanks" He responded, eyes still locked on the box resting in his arms.

"Ok then, you can go now. Oh, and here, keep it with you" He released a golem that hovered still for a bit before going two rounds above the boys head and settling right next to his left. He eyed it a bit uneasily but then nodded and was on his way until "Oh, and play nice with Lena, ok?"

"God damn it!"

A/N: Perfect ending lol. So, to get you excited: Next chapter! Marie appears and the two finally start heading to the Asia Branch! Where, obviously, drama is probably gonna happen!

To the guest review: Kanda's had that tattoo since the very beginning, it's like a trade-mark? If you go on any manga-reading site, chapter 190, you can sort of see it on his chest. :)
