Penny found Alex sitting on a small bench just inside the bathroom. She wasn't crying any more, but Penny could see that she was clearly upset. Penny stopped and asked, "Alex, sweetie, can I sit down?"
Alex nodded for Penny to join her. Penny continued, "Alex, I know that I'm probably not the first person you would want to talk about any of this stuff about, but I think that I actually may be able to help you."
Alex didn't look up but wiped her eyes.
Penny took a deep breath. "OK…. Bernie just told Amy and me what happened with you and Raj. I won't pretend to know what is going on between you two, but I can tell you that if you have feelings for him, you need to really think hard about them and then talk to him. Look… Leonard and I were together on and off for a while before I finally stopped fooling myself. Sometimes it takes a lot to make you see what is so easy for others to see. I thought Leonard died before I could admit to myself that he meant more to me than anything. Even when you were flirting with him…"
Alex looked up at Penny.
Penny took Alex's hand. "Sorry, sweetie…. Anyway, even then, I wasn't sure how I felt about committing to him. But when I finally did, I couldn't believe that I hadn't done it sooner. I almost lost him to Raj's sister and then, I could have lost him to you. The thing that really kept us together was Leonard. He never even thought you were flirting with him at first. He only had eyes for me. God knows why, but I'm so glad he did. He just waited for me to catch up… And Raj is the same with you. Bernadette told us that Raj told you he loved you. And that's really scary to hear. The first time Leonard said that to me, I was so scared, I broke us up. That was probably the stupidest thing I ever did in my life… EVER. The best thing I ever did was propose to him."
"I'm not saying that you need to commit to Raj, But You know what I told Leonard when he said he loved me for the first time? I said,… Thank You…. That hurt him more than anything. I could see it in his eyes. It scared me because I knew he meant it and I didn't think I was ready. It wasn't like he was just saying it, he meant it and he was expecting me to say it back. I couldn't and it almost ended us forever."
"You need to really take a look at what you have with Raj and decide if it's worth having. There's always someone in a relationship that goes faster than the other person. That's OK. It's OK to want to slow things down. You just need to be honest with each other. Talk to him about it. Make him think about it too. Make sure that you guys are doing what is right for you for the right reasons. Raj is a great guy, and he would never do anything to hurt you, but just because he's nice, doesn't mean you need to be together. You need to be together for yourselves. Now let's get back to the girls."
Alex stood and grabbed Penny's arm before she could leave the bathroom and pulled her in for a hug. "Thank you".
Leonard knocked on Sheldon's door frame and entered his office. "Sheldon, you're going to have to find another way home. Penny asked me to come home to talk about something."
Sheldon turned from looking at his board. "No problem, I will just ask Howard".
Leonard answered. "You can't, his mother called, and apparently she came down with something and he needs to get her to a doctor's appointment."
Sheldon smiled. "Raj, then".
Leonard continued. "Nope, Raj just left. It seems that Alex wanted to talk to him some more. Perhaps you could take the bus… or ask Amy, she IS doing her work here at Cal Tech for the next couple of months".
Sheldon looked up "But… Leonard…"
Leonard turned and left Sheldon's office. "See ya Buddy".
Howard drove home. He had gotten a text message from Bernadette saying that she wanted to go home and change out of her work clothes before they both went over to his mother's house to pick her up for the doctor's appointment. Howard was glad for the help. He was pretty sure that with Bernadette's help, they could more easily maneuver his mother.
When he got into the apartment, he heard some soft music. The lights were turned down low, and he could hear some soft humming coming from the bedroom. Howard called out… "Bernie? I'm home… are you ready to go?" There was no answer, so Howard continued toward the bedroom. When he entered, he could hardly believe his eyes. Bernadette was on her side with her head propped up on one hand. Her legs were crossed, and she was wearing close to nothing.
Howard grabbed his chest. "Please don't be arrhythmia… please don't be arrhythmia….." He coughed and inquired, "Bernie, what's this all about? We need to get my mother to the doctor."
Bernadette smiled at her husband. "Oh that… I talked to the doctor….. He had new orders…."
Howard raced over to the bed. "I like this doctor, what is the prescription?
Bernadette smiled as she took Howard's face between her hands pulling him into a passionate kiss. "Have wild sex with your wife three times per day or as needed".
Howard pulled back. "OH BABY!"
Sheldon walked the halls of Cal Tech until he came to the Biology wing. He had been to Amy's lab before, so he knew the way. He took a little longer than he usually would thinking about the discussion that he had at lunch with the guys. He quietly knocked on the door to her lab:
Knock… Knock… Knock… Amy
Knock… Knock… Knock… Amy
Knock… Knock… Knock… Amy
Unknown to Sheldon, Amy had been expecting him to come by. When Alex and Penny returned from the bathroom, Penny had finished her plan and all the girls were in agreement. "Sheldon, what brings you down the halls of the squishy sciences?"
