Still own nothing

Sheldon sat at the lunch table by himself seemingly staring off into the distance. Amy came to greet him. "Sheldon? Are you here alone? Where are Howard and Rajesh?"

Sheldon looked up and smiled at Amy. "Amy, you are going to be treated to a wondrous lunch break. You can put your brain in neutral and reset all your thoughts. It appears that Howard has put in for a week of vacation time during the same period as Raj. According to the calendar I have set up for our group to remind the otherwise distracted members, Howard is taking Bernadette up the coast for some "rest and relaxation", as if that was fooling anybody."

Amy smiled thinking to herself, 'I guess Bernadette had that talk with Howard. GO BERNADETTE!' She turned to Sheldon. "Well, we know why Leonard is missing from your daily meeting, where is Rajesh?"

Sheldon put his fork down. "It appears that Raj has decided to take a vacation with Alex. He has indicated that they are going to visit his homeland, and presumably, his parents. That should be quite the meeting. When they meet his whiter than marshmallow fluff girlfriend, the curry will certainly hit the fan."

Amy smiled wider now that she heard that all his friends were otherwise preoccupied. Apparently, Penny had been a very busy girl informing their tight knit group of her plan to make sure Sheldon had maximum face time with Amy. If that didn't give her a chance to advance whatever it was that was arousing Sheldon nothing would. "Sheldon, what are you going to do with yourself while there is nobody for you to play with?"

Sheldon scoffed. "Amy, I am not a child. I am more than capable of occupying myself with worthy and interesting endeavors without the mundane assistance of the likes of Leonard, Howard and Raj." Amy just sat smiling back at him.

Sheldon looked at Amy, "So what time are you picking me up to go to the comic book store. Oh… I have a better Idea… We can pick up Chinese food on the way home, and then go to the Comic book store afterward".

Amy picked up her sandwich. "That sounds like a great idea Sheldon. It is no small wonder that you are the intellectual center of the group". Sheldon smiled and returned to eating his lunch.

The next week proceeded as Penny and Amy planned. Sheldon was greeted each morning by Amy smiling at his door as he opened it to go to work. They had lunch together every day and continued the spirited discussions they had started during their ride to work that morning. After work was over, Sheldon waited in his office until Amy finished her work and came to pick him up. Each night, Amy would offer to go to the restaurant of choice for a comfortable dinner. Sheldon had decided that for reasons of efficiency, they eat at the restaurant. This couldn't make Amy happier. They would typically take a table off to the side and have a leisurely meal that she would classify as romantic. After each meal, they would retire to Sheldon's apartment where they would partake in activities such as Counterfactuals, or assorted board games interspersed with trips to the comic book store, train store or watching science fiction television. Each of the dinners had included increased hand holding and each Good Night at Sheldon's door came with a proper kiss. The last few days had also included cuddling while watching the latest Dr. Who episodes.

By the time the week was coming to an end, Amy sat on Sheldon's couch drinking some raspberry and lemon tea. "Sheldon, this has been a wonderful week. I have really enjoyed what we have been doing. I'm going to miss the morning commutes as well as all the other nice things we have been doing."

Sheldon looked over at Amy, fully recognizing that Leonard was probably going to come out of quarantine, and Howard was due back from his holiday away with Bernadette. It was expected that Raj would be in India for another week if all things hadn't gone awry. "Amy, I too have enjoyed the time we have spent together. Considering that Howard doesn't pick me up for work, I would propose that you continue that function even if the Hofstadter family had been eradicated of whatever pestilence that has been running rampant in their household. We did say at the beginning of this week that if all things went acceptably, we would consider making the change more permanent."

For the next week, things progressed as they had the week before with the exception of Amy preparing meals for the two of them at the apartment. Amy was coming in the building with groceries when Penny happened to be coming up from the laundry room. Penny was ecstatic to see her friend. "Amy! How are you?" She looked up the stairs to make sure Sheldon was nowhere in sight. "How are things going? We haven't seen hide nor hair of you guys. Sheldon hasn't been yammerin about what best way there is to do this or that…. Leonard has been getting his work done…. We miss you guys!"

Amy smiled back. "This has been the best two weeks. Sheldon has been so calm, so nice. I'm making spaghetti with little hotdogs in it for him tonight."

Penny smiled. "Oh…. He loves that…. Just like his mother made. Has he advanced in any of the other things? … you know… like we thought he would?"

Amy smiled shyly. "He has been so nice. We hold hands all the time now and cuddle whenever we watch his star war… trek… things on TV. I don't get it, but the cuddling is really great."

Penny smiled back. "Yeah… it starts out that way…. Be careful… you get hooked…. I kind of like that stuff these days. Well, we'll see ya."

Penny went into 4A while Amy went into 4B to find Sheldon watching Star Trek on the SyFy channel. Sheldon looked over at Amy and patted the couch next to him while putting his arm up on the back of the couch making a comfortable nook for Amy to cuddle into. Amy smiled and put the sauce on the stove to simmer with cut p hotdogs and placed some water on to boil for the pasta. She then quickly went over to the couch and inserted herself into the nook Sheldon had made.

Sheldon smiled down at Amy and gave her a little hug. Amy looked up at Sheldon, and whispered, "I love you Sheldon Cooper".

Sheldon stiffened a little then relaxed, staring at the show on the television. Not really paying attention to the show any more. His brain had gone into overdrive trying to interpret the words that Amy had just uttered.
