Really winding down now

Still own nothing

Penny drove up to the TV station and parked the car. Leonard had stayed home with the kids. Penny was really excited to get to be on TV again. This was going to go a long way in helping her decide what direction to place her efforts in her career. The last time she was on, everything seemed to go so well. Was it just because it was so new and exciting for her? The Director really liked the way she interacted with the audience. Maybe there was really something to this.

When she got into the studio, Kris met her and took Penny to makeup. While she was in the chair, Kris told Penny that the focus of the episode was pregnancy. It had started out as a spot on teen pregnancy, but quickly ballooned to a general discussion of all ages and then added the different problems that might come of pregnancy. The station had originally planned for this to be just a spot on the morning show, but then discussed having the more comprehensive topic seen in the evening so parents at home could be present with their children.

Penny and the other women met and had a fun pre show meeting. Everyone was so nice. When they started the show, Penny sat next to Kris. Everything was going so well, just like the last time. Some of the other women were not as comfortable in front of the camera as Penny and the director could tell. Whenever it seemed to slow down, Kris was instructed to talk to Penny.

Penny was a natural at talking to people. All those years at the Cheesecake Factory actually paid off. During the show, Penny struck up conversations with pretty much each of the other women. Kris just sat back and enjoyed watching the interaction between Penny and the other women. When the topic of giving birth came up everyone was on the edge of their seats. Penny and another woman had the topic as they were the only ones of the group to deliver. Penny was really honest about the fact that she wanted to have a natural child birth but had the C-Section to make sure that the babies had the best chance considering they were premature.

The conversation took a side turn at that point and Penny went off on telling her story about the neonatal ICU and the wonderful care Jenny got while she was there. She even got a plug in for Dr. Johnson, Billings and Jenny's nurse Alma.

After the discussion portion of the show, they again had a question and answer period with call-ins from home. Everyone did so well, there was a great big round of applause from the audience.

After the show, everyone hugged and started to go on their way. Penny was tapped on the shoulder by Kris and asked to stay behind. The Director and the Producer of the show wanted to speak to her.

Penny stayed behind after the other women left. She sat in the Green Room wondering what they wanted to talk to her about. Kris finally came into the room followed by the Director and the Producer. They each shook Penny's hand and sat down for a chat.

Kris started. "Penny, you were great again. The audience loved you. You are a natural at this."

The Director inquired. "Penny, have you had any experience in front of cameras before?"

Penny smiled. "Well, I have been trying to make it as an actress for a while now, I act in community plays, and I have been on one National Commercial about a Hemorrhoid Cream".

The director continued. "Have you had any formal training?"

Penny smiled again. "I had been taking some regular acting classes before the babies were born, but I haven't done anything in the last few months".

The director was still pushing for more information. "Penny, they don't teach…. Or more correctly…. They can't teach the way you interact with other people and the audience. Where do you think your interaction skills come from?"

Penny was a little taken aback by the question. "Well…. Thank you for that comment…. I guess I have always been a talky type of person. I have never had a problem meeting people. My husband can still not believe that we actually started to be friends. He thinks that I would have been the last one to ever strike up a conversation with him let alone have a relationship with him and marry him. He's so great, I just think that he doesn't give himself enough credit. Sure he's shy, but you really just need to give people a chance, I guess that talking with people waitressing at the Cheesecake factory doesn't hurt either, I mean you meet all kinds of people, and not just at the tables, I work the bar too, and let me tell you, you really meet all kinds of peop ….."

The Producer broke in. He looked at both Kris and the Director. "That… that is what we need. That type of homey bubbly personality to make people feel at home. Kris, you have done this? What do you think? Could Penny help us … on the street?"

Kris smiled. "I think she would be great at it. We can't always bring everyone into the studio, we could open the show to a whole bunch of new people."

The Director looked to the producer. "We would need a mobile unit. We could go out into the community and do all sorts of spots. Have all kinds of opportunities. We could start with her being in the studio with Kris and then if something comes up, run out to the spot. We could also do on location spots like that story we wanted to do on rescued pets".

Penny just sat back not really believing what she was seeing fold out before her eyes.

The Producer turned to Penny. "Well, what do you think? Do you think you would like to come work before the cameras for us?"

Penny couldn't believe what she had just been asked. "Um… Sure…. I guess…. I don't know…. With the babies so young…. I'm gonna have to ask Leonard. Do I have to say right now?"

The Producer smiled. "We would like to move on this, but you can take a little while to get back to us. It would probably be better if you had an agent so we could talk terms with someone that really knows the business. Do you have one?"

Penny was getting a little nervous, but still maintained her up beat appearance. "Um.. yeah, I'll give her a call. Can I just talk to my husband before I say anything?"

The producer got up from his seat. "Sure… Kris, exchange contacts and we will talk later". He then left the room.

Penny exchanged information with Kris and the Director and collected her things before leaving the studio. She couldn't wait until she got home to tell Leonard what just happened.

When Penny got home, she bounded up the stairs like a school girl. When she got to the apartment, she opened the door and blurted out without thinking… "Leonard… You won't believe…." Then she saw that Mrs. Gunderson was sitting on the couch watching one of the morning talk shows. "Mrs. Gunderson… where's Leonard? Is everything ok? Are the babies ok? "Penny quickly scanned the apartment.

Mrs. Gunderson smiled back at Penny. "Everything is fine… Leonard just had to go to the store for a few things. He asked if I could just sit with the kids for a few minutes. He put them down just before he left. The little darlings are asleep in their room".

Penny let out a sigh of relief. "Ok Mrs. G. Thanks for helping out. I'm back now so if you need to leave…. Or maybe you want to stay and have a cup of coffee or tea?"

Mrs. Gunderson smiled. "Thank you dear, but I should be going. My sister is coming over and we are going to go for an early dinner. It was no problem, the babies are so sweet".

Penny let Mrs. Gunderson out and closed the door then waited for Leonard to get home. She found herself pacing the apartment thinking of what the meeting after the taping meant. She was pacing behind the couch walking toward the door when Leonard came in. "Mrs. Gunderson, I'm back".

Penny couldn't hold in the excitement any longer. She ran the last few steps to Leonard and jumped on him causing him to drop the packages he was holding in order to defend himself against the unexpected assault from his left. Leonard turned just in time to catch his wife as she jumped at him wrapping her arms around his neck, legs around his waist and planting a huge kiss right on his mouth. Leonard staggered back as he grabbed at the blonde missile just managing to keep standing. "Mfff… "

Penny broke her kiss. "Leonard… (kiss)… They want… (kiss)… Me to… (kiss) … be part of… (kiss)… the reporting… (kiss) …crew!"

Leonard staggered over to the couch where he plopped down with Penny on his lap. "Penny… calm down…." Leonard had to practically pull Penny off him as she changed from kissing him all over his face to kissing the side of his neck and nibbling on his ear. "Penny…. Penny… WHAT are you Saying?"

Penny was now smiling at Leonard as she got off his lap and pulled him to a standing position. She kicked off her shoes and pulled at his jacket. "Leonard the taping went so good again".

Penny pulled off her shirt as she moved them across the living room and pulling at Leonard's t-shirt. "They want me to be part of the reporting team, like a reporter on the street".

Penny unbuttoned her pants, quickly stepping out of them and unbuckled Leonard's. The intent now becoming clear to Leonard, he shed his pants and sneakers. "Leonard, they have been looking for a real personable friendly reporter".

Penny grabbed Leonard's hand and pulled him past the kid's room while she dropped her bra and panties. "Shhhh…. Don't wake the kids. They want me to get my agent to call them".

Leonard dropped his boxers after a nudging from Penny as they got to their bedroom.

Penny closed the door behind them and turned Leonard around and pushed him onto the bed. "What should I do? Do you think I should do this"? Penny straddled Leonard's hips and rubbed his chest. "What about the babies"?

Leonard looked up at his wife trying to take all the information in. "I think that you should do it".

Penny looked down at Leonard's smiling face. "Really? You think I could? Oh my god… Leonard… you are the BEST!"

Leonard looked up at his beautiful wife. "Penny I think you can do whatever you want to do, and you would be GREAT at it".

Penny smiled her best sly smile. "You bet I could, and I sure will be…. And right now?... This is what I want to do…" With that, Penny leaned in and gave Leonard one of the most passionate kisses he ever had. They rolled over into an embrace and celebrated the news that Penny had gotten from the TV Station.
