The more things change chapter 6
Another chapter, nothing fancy I just had this idea and decided I had to write it down. No matter how hard I tried though I couldn't seem to get it to write quite right. I hope you enjoy!
"No Dick it may look different but it will always be your home."
Matt hadn't lived in the manor long, a couple of years at most, but he had explored almost the entire house. Almost being the key word there. There was a bedroom right next to Bruce's that was off limits to everyone, the door had never been opened since he lived there, no one went in and no one came out. After asking the other kids he had found out none of them had ever seen the door open. When asking Bruce or Alfred all he would recieve was a sad shake of the head. Once Alfred said to him, "The boy who lived there shall never return but a man may one day come back to claim ownership once again." This statement had stuck with Matt, what did it mean, why did Alfred say it? Who were these people or were they one person? Was this person him, the boy every kid knew of but didn't at the same time. The brother no one, not even Jason, who had been here the longest, had ever met. The only thing known was his name and his suspected age, but that wasn't much to determine his personality on.
Matt hadn't lived in the manor long but he had formed a routine. He had just started 1st grade and would come home at the same time as the rest of the kids. Everyday he would walk down the hallway to his bedroom to his room before coming back to the kitchen to get a snack. Today though, Matt realized, was going to change his routine for ever.
Matt hadn't lived here long but he knew there were certain rules you never cross, opening that forbidden door was one of them. The first thought going through Matt's head was that someone was in so much trouble for staring him in the eyes was the other side of the forbidden door. Someone had been dumb enough to open it, to go in there and disrupt the silence and secrets that room held.
Matt hadn't lived here long but he knew when to stay out of the way. He slowly crept by hoping to not be considered a part of this idiotic scheme, only to stop. Standing there was a man of about 21 who had his back turned to the door. He, like many of the kids in the family, had dark hair. He had a lean stature that spoke of flexibility along with his caulosed hands. The man, he could be nothing else, seemed to be deeply staring around the room as if searching for something he lost. Suddenly he turned about face to stare straight at Matt as if Matt had made a ton of noise to attract his attention. The two seemed to be locked in a stalemate, without even realizing it mixing together two different life times, looking at someone who had gone through similar things to themselves. The moment, like many life changing moments, was broken as easily as it was formed.
"Oh, Matt I didn't realize you would be home yet."
"My field trip ended early so I came home early."
"Okay well I guess you can be the first person I introduce. Matt this is your eldest brother Richard."
Matt hadn't lived in the manor long, a couple of years at most, but he knew that living here from this moment on would be completely different. He stood frozen terrified of this man's opinion of him which was completely irrational because he was Bruce's son and just because Richard was back didn't change that. But now, Matt realized, the stakes were higher; Richard had a high place in Bruce's heart as well as being his first son, no one else could truly compare. But maybe that wasn't true maybe Bruce had always compared all of the kids to Richard since before he adopted them. It was too much for his 6 year old brain to handle, the pressure of knowing everything was now changing was too much for one kid.
"Excuse me I have to go do homework."
"What homework you're in 1st-" "Bruce uita-te la el, e îngrozit."*
"Sorry Matt why don't you go play in your room and I'll come get you for dinner later." Bruce said with what looked to be a chastized look on his face, if Bruce ever looked like that, that is.
"Okay, yea okay I'll see you later. It was nice to meet you Richard." And throwing all manners lessons Alfred had taught him to the wind Matt then sprinted away without waiting for a reply. What language was that? And even more so what did he say to make Bruce have a repentive look on his face? Matt knew what he had to do now going down the hall to everyone's rooms Matt knocked the special knock saying 'we need to have a meeting NOW' Matt then ran to his room wondering how he was going to share this with his siblings. By the time he got out of his musings the rest of the kids had assembled.
"What's the big deal tiny."
"Jason be nice."
"What I didn't call him puny or anything."
"GUYS we have bigger things to worry about."
"Like what?"
"Like the fact that we got a new sibling. Well not exactly new but still."
"Slow down Matty what are you talking about?"
"When I got home the door was open and someone was in that room. When I stopped to see who was in there the person and I got into a sort of staring contest. After a while Bruce showed up and introduced him as Richard our BROTHER." Everyone then started talking at once and there were some moments of chaos until Stephenie told everyone to shut up.
"Okay we know nothing about this guy so why don't we just wait and get to know him and figure out what happened as we go. Unless someone else has a better idea?" When no one could think up one they agreed to relax until dinner and then regroup later tonight and see what they had learned about this mysterious brother.
*Look at him, he's terrified

Thanks for reading! What do you guys think? Does anyone still read this? How was this format, I doubt all of the chapters will be like this but I thought the repetition would be interesting. Please review!
