For the first time since the funeral, I decided to take Brittany out. I didn't want to take her to dinner or to the movies or anything like we usually do, I wanted to do something different. She wasn't crying anymore, I knew she had fully accepted everything, she just needed to get out.
"You're going to pick me up at 9 and you want me to be in my swimming suit?"
"That's right," I confirmed.
"Okay, I'll see you in a little bit," Brittany said skeptically as we finished out phone call.
When 9 rolled around, I picked up Brittany and started driving away. She was wearing her simple turquoise bikini under a loose tank top and running shorts.
"I assume we're going swimming," she said.
I nodded. "Have you ever been swimming at night?"
"Never."
"Well, sweetheart, you are in for a treat," I said, turning onto the main road.
"It better be freaking spectacular," she mumbled.
"Oh, it is," I said, trying to cheer her up. "Especially on a night like this. It's perfect."
The rest of the ride is silent as I pulled up to the pool where I do my long course swimming.
"Isn't the pool closed?" She asked as I parked.
I nodded. "But I have a key, Langley thinks that I should have one in case I feel so inclined as to practice again."
She laughed emptily. "I'm sorry I'm still being such a downer. I'm just having another little bout of sadness. I shouldn't be though. It's been long enough."
"Don't apologize, Britt," I said sympathetically while unlocking the gate. "Your grandma passed away, it's a big deal. I just wanted to cheer you up."
"I love you," she said, taking hold of my hand as I led her into the pool.
The emptiness of the pool was striking. It was a warm night, probably 80 degrees but it was comfortable and nice. The only light was a couple of street lamps near the fence and the light of the full moon that seemed to reflect beautifully off the still, uninterrupted water.
We walked towards a set of lounging chairs closest to the street lamp. I took off my shirt and my shorts and Brittany scanned her eyes up and down my body.
"You're hot," she concluded, running a hand down my arm.
I grinned and tugged at her shirt. She obliged and took off her clothes. I smiled as I tangled my fingers within the strings of her bikini at her hip. Just as she was about to kiss me, I whipped around her and dove into the pool. It was all too familiar, I was just in the pool 4 short hours ago. As I emerged, I turned around and Brittany was staring back at me with a grin on her face.
"Is it cold?" She asked.
"No, it's actually pretty warm. Jump in!" I insisted.
Reluctantly she jumped in. I swam over to her just as her head was poking out of that water. Her eyes glistening in the pale moonlight.
I placed both my hands on her shoulders, leaned in, and kissed her. She pushed me up against the wall of the pool, running her hands down my sides and keeping them on my hips. I wrapped both of my arms around her neck. I kissed her neck at her pulse point and tasted a mixture of chlorine and Brittany. She pulled our wet, bikini clad bodies closer and moaned my name.
She guided my face back to hers and back to her lips. I kissed her again, she opened her mouth automatically and with every movement, I deepened our kiss. It was the first time since before her grandma's death that I felt comfortable enough to be this intimate with her.
She pulled away briefly with a flirty smile, pressed her lips back to mine, and pulled me underwater. I'd done a lot of things underwater; bubble rings, 50 yard underwater kicks, millions of flip turns, and the occasional handstand but I'd never kissed anyone underwater. It was different and strange but I loved it. We kept our mouths connected and rose out of the water a few seconds later. Water fell in big streams around us and Brittany giggled, wanting to do it again. So we did. After coming up from the fourth underwater kiss, Brittany tugged on my hand and placed it just where her swimsuit bottom fabric pressed against her skin. She wedged the tips of my fingers underneath them.
"I want you to fuck me," she husked in my ear.
"Right now?" I whispered back.
"Yes."
I maneuvered my hand further into her bottoms and slid them all the way down. Then in one swift motion, I picked her up and gently set her on the gutter of the pool.
I stood in the water while I spread her legs and metaphorically dove in. I planted gingered kisses along her thighs until I made it up to her center. I let my mouth fall into her center as I went down on her. Normally, I wouldn't just fuck her with my mouth because I didn't know if I could make her come just by doing that but I was up for a challenge today and I was feeling pretty confident.
I let my body collapse into the side of the pool, still barely standing. "I've never been so hot in a pool before," I stated.
Brittany panted next to me. "And I thought that swimming was the only thing you could do well in the pool."
I grinned. "Me too. And I thought that a decade of swimming would have given me a little more breath control in the pool."
"What can I say? I can make you more breathless than a 500 free," she said with a slight shoulder shrug. I cocked my head at her, surprised. "What?" She asked. "I can use swimming terms in the correct context, I catch on fast. You should be proud."
"I am proud," I assured her.
"Do you want me to...?" She asked and pointed in between us.
"No, it's alright. I just wanted you to feel good."
She smiled and swiftly swam towards me to dunk me in the water.
We dunked each other and splashed around for a little bit. Brittany then said, "Teach me how to float."
"You can't float? Can you swim?" I asked, incredulous.
"Well, yeah. I just can't float, not on my back."
"Well, who better to teach you than the best backstroker in the state of Ohio?" I said with a cocky head tilt.
"Oh, Quinn is coming?" She bounced back.
I laughed and splashed water in her direction.
"Anyone can float," I simply said. "Here. Lean back."
She kicked her feet out from under her and leaned back into the water. Her hair flowed in a gorgeous strands surrounding her head but she immediately started sinking into the water. I lightly placed an arm under her thighs and another arm just above the small of her back and lifted her up.
"Okay, now straighten your legs."
She obliged and straightened her legs, keeping her arms down at her sides. Her hips dipped downward in the water.
"Arch your back and lift your hips up." She did. "Now tilt your head back and relax."
She tilted her head back so the surface of the water was sloshing against her ears.
"Don't let go of me," she pleaded.
"Already did," I said with a sly grin.
Her eyes widened but she kept still, continuing to float. Gradually, she started kicking her legs and started to move about the pool. After a few minutes of her new found skill, she came back to me.
"Did I look like Santana Lopez out there?"
I nodded and joked, "Better than her actually."
We spent the next hour floating, treading, swimming, splashing, and just talking. It was fun. I loved being in the water when I didn't have to swim laps but I just loved being with Brittany. She was definitely in a better mood than when we first started the night out and I couldn't be any happier either.
We waded to the shallow end of the pool and she wrapped her arms around me from behind, pulling me close.
"Look at the sky, the stars. It's so beautiful," she half-whispered in my ear.
We both craned our necks and gazed at the above me. They really were pretty, a million of them dotted the sky.
"Look," she said, pointing in the sky. "There's a cat constellation right there."
"I don't see it Britt."
She moved from behind me to right beside me, keeping an arm wrapped around my waist. "It's right next to the big dipper."
"I may have been valedictorian but an astronomy class would have been the death of me," I said, still searching the stars, humoring her.
Just as I was about to give up, a shooting star shot across the sky.
I gaped at her, excited. I had never seen a shooting star in my whole life. I made a wish and then asked, "Did you see that!?"
She laughed. "Yes."
"Did you make a wish?"
She looked up for a second, deep in thought. "Now I did."
"And what was it?"
"Can't tell or it won't come true."
"Oh, come on Brittany, give me a hint?"
She grinned. "Let's just say that it probably has something to do with the fact that I am with the most beautiful woman I could ever dream of and I don't want a thing to change."
I ran my hand through my hair with a shy grin and felt a slight blush on my cheeks. "You're absolutely perfect, Brittany."
Brittany drew me closer and I saw the glimmer in her eyes that always made my heart beat 10 times faster.
Before we knew it, we talked the night away and time got away from us. We were both turning into giant prunes. By the time we got out of the pool, I felt like I finally had my Brittany back and it was the best feeling ever.
A few weeks later, we were all packed up into our Suburban and headed to Michelle and Carter's wedding, the wedding that everyone was looking forward to. Brittany, as well as Bryan were coming with us. The wedding was this afternoon and the reception was tonight. We'd made reservations in a hotel for the night and would come back the next morning; my dad was scheduled that night for a surgery. The parents reserved three rooms, a double for our family and two singles for Brittany and Bryan. When I told Brittany that, she freaked out and wanted to pay them but I calmed her down, explaining that they weren't going to take the money so there was no use.
"Brittany's here," I said looking at my phone.
"Lovely. I know you guys know to keep it appropriate?" My mom asked.
"Yes, mom, we were planning on making out in front of everyone there. Why don't you tell Ellie that?" I was agitated.
"Yeah, mom. Why?" Ellie asked.
"Ellie, keep it appropriate as well."
We heard Brittany walk in.
"Well, hello Brittany!" My mom greeted her with a hug.
I rolled my eyes. My mom was nervous with everything. She was actually Michelle's Godmother so it was a big day for her anyway. She spent the whole summer trying to find the perfect wedding gift before settling on some kind of décor item or something.
"Hi, you look gorgeous." She was wearing a yellow and blue summer dress. "I love those colors."
"Thank you." She looked over my own dress. "You do too, as usual." She gave me a small hug, sensing the hostility in the room.
Bryan came in a little after Brittany and after my dad finally came down. He was dressed sharp, wearing dress slacks and a red button up with a striped tie. My sister greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Hi Bryan. This is Brittany, Santana's girlfriend."
"It's nice to meet you Bryan." Brittany smiled and held out her hand for him to shake.
He hesitated and then shook it with a weak smile. "You too."
All six of us piled our luggage into the Suburban. Luckily, we all packed relatively light. Michelle and Carter lived just two hours away and the wedding started at 3. Brittany and I sat in the back, Bryan and Ellie in the middle, and my parents in the front.
There wasn't a lot of talking going on in the car but it wasn't awkward. From the time we pulled onto the interstate, Bryan seemed glued to his phone. I knew he wasn't texting Ellie because she was asleep in her chair.
I wasn't very tired, even though I had a small meet yesterday, but Brittany was intermittently talking to me while fighting the urge to fall asleep.
"Why are you so tired, babe?" I asked her, quietly.
"Long night I guess. I went to a party last night with a few people and then I was doing a lot of paperwork with the leases for the apartments and lost track of time. Then my alarm went off early this morning."
"Ahh, you're doing too much."
"I just like to do things when you're at meets or practice because then I know I'm not missing a chance to be with you because you're already gone," she says, yawning.
"God, what did I do to deserve you? Go back to sleep."
I watched as she closed her eyes and put her head back on my shoulder with an arm wrapped through mine. I put my ear buds in and watched through the window. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bryan eyeing Brittany and I with an indistinguishable look. I couldn't tell if he was confused, disgusted, or constipated. It was something though. I ended up falling asleep too eventually. It seemed like only a few minutes before I felt Ellie gently waking me up.
"We're almost to the church, Santana."
"Okay," I murmured.
I woke up Brittany and waited in silence the few more minutes until we reached the church.
The wedding was gorgeous. It was very traditional. The dresses, the colors, they were all so pretty. I would say it was a picture-perfect wedding. There were quite a few people there, at least 200. I do admit though, it was weird sitting next to Brittany during the service. I didn't know the feeling, I just felt different from any other weddings that I'd been to, even with Puck.
After the wedding ended, we mingled with family and friends. Brittany stood quietly by my side. We weren't holding hands but we were standing close enough that I could feel her touch, even if it was just our shoulders. After what seemed like years, everyone finally headed to the reception which was just a few blocks away.
Bryan was still acting differently. Of course, he was being polite but he wasn't as talkative as he usual was. Maybe he was bored or tired, I didn't know. Ellie didn't seem to notice, she was enjoying everything, faithfully holding his hand.
The room where the reception was held was huge. Not everyone from the wedding went to the reception but there were still a substantial amount of people there. The decorations were classy and just as gorgeous as I had expected from the wedding. Once everyone got settled in with their food, we listened to the toasts. One was actually really funny. After eating and the cake, we watched the first dances.
Michelle and Carter's dance was to the traditional "I Do" by Westlife. I briefly glanced next to me and saw Brittany not really looking at the dance floor but looking at me. It wasn't really a look, more like a gaze, like she was lost. I smiled, took her hand, and held it in my hand for the remainder of the dance.
After their dance was over, many people started to filter into the dance floor, including my parents and Ellie and Bryan. Brittany and I both stayed back for this first time. Since all the traditional wedding rituals were over, wine and beer was starting to course throughout the room. Soon, not many would be able to distinguish between the people dancing.
"Do you want to get some air?" I turned to Brittany.
"Yeah, sure."
"The whole wedding is gorgeous. One of the best I've been to," Brittany said as I intertwined my fingers in hers and leaned into her.
"Yeah, it really was. Michelle, she's a real perfectionist. And I think she's been planning her wedding from the day she was born."
Brittany laughed. "Thanks for taking me."
"Of course. I'm sorry if things are awkward or anything."
She stopped and turned so we were face to face. "Santana. You don't have to apologize anymore. First, it's not your fault. Second, it's always going to be awkward to a degree. Where ever we go, people are going to stare because it's not the norm. All that matters though is that we're comfortable together. You can't let all these other people affect you. And third, it wasn't even that awkward, except for Ellie's boyfriend. I don't think he likes me." She shrugged.
"Don't worry about him. But thank you. I'm sorry… I mean. I'm not sorry."
She smiled and took my hand. I pressed my lips to hers.
After we kissed, we continued walking around and headed back towards the entrance. I narrowed my eyes and saw a few figures walking out of the building.
"Hey, it's Santana and Brittany over there!" It was the unrecognizable voice of Jasmine. Monica was walking next to her.
I nodded in their direction. "You want to talk to them?"
"Of course."
We walked over to them and greeted them with big embraces.
"Hey! What are you doing out here?" I asked them.
"We were just putting some shit in the car. What about you?" Jasmine winked.
Brittany chuckled next to me. "Just getting some air."
"Oh, that's what they call it these days."
We all laughed. Brittany and I walked with them to their car.
"You're so tan, Santana!" Monica exclaimed.
"Yeah, I suppose. It's all that outdoor swimming. The only bad thing is that I have a swim cap tan line if you look close enough. Are you excited to go to UC?"
"Yeah I am. I'm really ready to like get out of the town that I've been in. There's so much out there."
"Amen, girl."
"Well, I'm not ready for her to leave. She'll be hours away!" Jasmine mocked pouting. "Are you excited for BHU?"
"I am. I have less than a month before I move in to start training."
"What about you, Brittany? Aren't you moving to Hamilton soon?"
"Yeah, I have like a week left at the dance studio. My lease there starts in August so I'll start moving in soon and getting my classroom ready. Yikes."
"That's so exciting! I'm so happy for you guys."
The four of us continued our small talk after walking in and meeting their friends and boyfriends. They were great guys, better than Bryan was acting.
"Hey, let's dance," I told Brittany when we went back to our regular spots.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Half the people here are drunk now and there's no reason to keep someone this beautiful away from the dance floor."
She grinned and we went to the dance floor. Most of the songs that had been playing were moderate tempo love songs with a few upbeat or slow songs placed intermittently. We danced for a few songs. We flowed easily together, like we always did when we danced. I passed Jasmine and Monica and their dates and they waved. I even saw my parents on the dance floor. They were so cute. Ellie and Bryan, I didn't know where they were. I knew they were dancing but they may have taken a break. Time went by fast, we just kept dancing. I loved every minute of it.
Wise men say only fools rush in.
Ingrid Michaelson's version of "Can't Help Falling In Love" came on the speakers. Brittany pulled me close and I wrapped my arms around her neck.
But I can't help falling in love with you.
"When I dream about my wedding, I think of this song," I told her.
Shall I stay? Would it be a sin if I can't help falling in love with you?
"This song is so beautiful. Just like you," Brittany said pulling me closer.
Like a river flows surely to the sea. Darling so it goes. Some things are meant to be.
We swayed gently back and forth, we weren't close, but we weren't far apart.
So take my hand, and take my whole life too.
Brittany held out her hand, palm up. I took it.
Cause I can't help falling in love with you.
She held it up and spun me around in place.
Like a river flows so surely to the sea. Oh my darling it goes some things are meant to be.
We continued to dance, ballroom style, blocking out the world around us.
So won't you please just take my hand; and take my whole life too.
This time I slowly spun her around. She smiled the whole time, looking right into my eyes.
Cause I can't help, falling in love with you. Cause I can't help, falling in love.
We went back to slow dancing, except my arms were around her waist this time with her arms locked around my neck. I pressed my forehead to hers.
I keep falling in love with you.
I smiled and very, very gently kissed her as the song ended. I hugged her closely.
"Hey, I can't help falling in love with you," I whispered in her ear.
"Me either."
I pulled away from our embrace and smiled as our eyes met. We stepped off the dance floor and I just stared into her eyes, ending our perfect dance.
"You two are probably the most beautiful couple here," a voice said from behind me.
It was Michelle, the bride.
"Hi Michelle," I said with a hug. "Thank you."
There was an awkward half second before I said, "Oh, and then this is Brittany."
"It's nice to formally meet you Brittany," Michelle said with a wide smile. "I've heard a lot about you."
Brittany grinned. "Congratulations. The wedding is gorgeous. So is your wine choice, probably one of the best wines I've had."
Michelle smiled and looked toward me. "I like her, Santana."
"I kinda like her too... but just a little." I grinned.
We talked with Michelle for a few more minutes before she moved on and mad her rounds to the other people at the wedding.
At about midnight, somewhere in between there, we all went back to the hotel. My parents were slightly tipsy which made for some funny conversation while I drove back.
We went back to the hotel, I brought my bags to our family's room and Ellie and I went to Bryan and Brittany's rooms to say goodnight.
I knocked and she answered in a tank top and pajama bottoms with her hair thrown up in a messy bun. A toothbrush was sticking out of her mouth. It was pretty cute. She saw me and smiled through the toothpaste foam. She motioned for me to come in. I walked in and sat on the bed while she went to the bathroom.
"I have 10 minutes. Get your ass out here so I can finally kiss you!" I softly yelled to her.
"Coming!"
In half a minute, Brittany emerged from the bathroom. She walked over and straddled me, hovering over me. She ran her fingers through my hair.
"You know," she said. "Your parents really didn't have to buy me a room. I would have slept on the floor."
"They wanted to. It's no big deal. Besides, if they didn't buy you a room, we couldn't do this…" I put my hand on the back of her neck and pulled her in until our lips connected.
She kissed me back. I couldn't help but smile while we kissed. I never thought that by the time I graduated high school, I could seriously consider a life with someone. But seeing a wedding and seeing how happy Carter and Michelle were together, I just wanted that for Brittany and I. I didn't ever want to be with anyone else. In just 10 short months, she rocked my life and became the biggest part of it.
"You're really happy!" She kissed the side of my mouth.
"I'm just so happy to have you. And I'm just... I'm happy."
"Well, I'm glad that you're happy. I love you, Santana."
"I love you too, Brittany. So much. When I think about school starting, it depresses me because I know we won't be able to spend nearly as much time together as we are this summer. This is truly the best summer ever because of you."
"Same here." She smiled. "Don't fret though. We have something so great. Yeah, we'll both be really busy but you have to make sacrifices in relationships. We'll be able to work. We'll be able to find time."
"Are you excited? To move?"
"I am. I love Lima but it's gotten old. There's too many sour memories and just, I've grown up. Besides, Hamilton is where I want to be because you'll be there… And come to think of it, I have some old friends who are there. Is anyone else from McKinley going to BHU?"
"Yeah, there's a few others. It'll be nice to know that I know some people there. But I also just want to start over, where no one knows me, no one knows my name. Like… clean slate. I can be myself."
"I know what you mean. You'll be the star of BHU, as well."
"Pshh, I'm a star anywhere I go!"
Brittany rolled her eyes with a smile.
I looked at the clock. "Crap! I have to get back. I'll see you in the morning, okay?"
Just as I moved to get up from the bed, she pulled me back in and kissed me again. I reluctantly pulled away and we got up from the bed and she walked me to the hotel door.
"I love you."
"I love you too. Goodnight." I pecked her cheek and retreated back to the other room.
Ellie was already in bed, fiddling on her phone. I jumped in next to her after brushing my teeth. There was a low buzz from the TV, my dad was out and my mom was watching the news.
"Hey, is Bryan okay?" I whispered to her.
"He's an ass," she whispered back.
"Trouble in paradise?"
"I don't know. Maybe. I just don't want to be with him anymore. I love him but he gets in these moods and it's annoying."
"Why was he acting so weird?"
"He wouldn't tell me. I didn't even kiss him when I left. I barely gave him a hug. I don't know. We'll see." She pulled the covers over her shoulder. "Love you, Santana. Goodnight."
"Night."
The next morning, I woke up way too early from such a late night. Years of morning practices trained my body to rarely let me sleep in. I was careful not to make too much ruckus and put on a swimsuit and grabbed my goggles, cap, and a towel. I went down to the hotel pool. It was small and I'd get barely anything done but every minute in a pool counted.
I was swimming for about 45 minutes before I saw two legs dangling in the water on one side of the pool at the shallow end. It was Brittany, I recognized her toned calves and mint colored toenails. I swam over to her, put my goggles on my forehead, and stood right in front of her.
"Fancy seeing you here," she said with a raised eyebrow.
"Hi Brittany. How was your sleep?"
"It was great. It would have been better if I had a warm, swimmer body to snuggle with." I felt her foot rub against my ribcage. "Actually, your parents called my room like 20 minutes ago. They said you weren't in there and thought you snuck into my room."
I snorted. "Oops. I hope they weren't mad at you."
"Uh, not really." She said it with a hint of apprehension. "I told them I'd find you. They want to go to the hotel restaurant for breakfast soon and then get out of here."
"Ahh, alright." I scooted over and jumped out of the pool, water dripping off of me.
"You are so hot when you're wet." Brittany winked as she got to her feet.
"Oh, so clever," I said touching her arm. "Well," I stepped closer and whispered in her ear, "I am very wet."
She shuddered and walked away before things got too hot. I gave her my towel so she could dry her legs off with, wrapped myself in the towel, and we walked back to the elevator.
I went back to my room and told her I'd text her when we went down for breakfast. I jump in the shower and got dressed, throwing on a tank top and shorts.
"You went swimming this morning, pumpkin?" My dad asked as he was packing his things, I was doing my hair.
"Yeah, I woke up a few hours ago and couldn't get back to sleep."
"I have some apologizing to do to Brittany."
I frowned. Brittany didn't tell me anything. She didn't want to. "What did you say to her?"
"Well we woke up and you weren't there with Ellie. Where else would you be? I jumped to conclusions and called over to Brittany's room. She answered and I think I told her something like 'How dare you and Santana defy my rules…' 'I'm very disappointed in you, I thought more highly of you than this…'"
"Yeah, he was pissed," Ellie said.
"But then she told you that I wasn't there…" I said.
"Yeah. And then I still didn't know you where you were and she said she'd take care of it. I didn't have time to apologize then."
"Pa!"
"I'll fix it." He cringed. "Sorry."
We grabbed our bags and all six of us met down in the lobby before going to the restaurant. We took our bags out to the car.
"Hey, Brittany. Can I talk to you?" My dad asked, holding her back. "You guys go in and get a table."
My mom took off in front. "Alright, Jorge."
In the corner of my eye, I saw my dad taking with his hands, which usually meant that he was elaborating. Brittany was nodding and smiling.
Breakfast was mundane. Not a lot of dialogue went on during the meal, just light conversation. Bryan wasn't saying much, my dad decided to include him in conversation.
"Son, I hope you had an enjoyable time," my dad finally said to Bryan.
"Yeah," Bryan nodded with his apple juice in his hand. "It was nice. Thank you for letting me come."
He didn't say anything else and my dad didn't try to engage anymore conversation with him.
We piled back into the car and took off on the drive back to Lima. I snuggled into the crook of Brittany's arm for a nice little nap. I was so tired. About halfway through the ride back, I felt my phone vibrate. It was a text from Ellie telling me that Bryan has been a dick this whole weekend. Ellie said that if it continued like this, she's going to end it. They barely said two words to each other this morning. The rest of the ride, I talked quietly with Brittany. It was a good thing my parents were talking to each other or this would be quite the awkward car ride home.
For about an hour, I snuggled up against Brittany's shoulder and fell asleep. When I woke up, she slyly smiled at me and nodded towards my phone.
Confused, I looked at my screen and opened a message from Brittany So I had a little problem after you left my room last night.
"What?" I asked her.
Brittany winked at me and took out her own phone and texted again Santana, I was sooo freaking horny.
I grinned to myself. Brittany is easily the sweetest person in the world but she sure knows how to be sexy. I typed out a message Oh yeah? And what'd you do about it?
Well, I had to get off somehow ;)
What did you think about?
You know, just the thought of you fucking me up against a wall.
Oh god Brit. Was I good?
Oh yeahhh, I was so wet for you.
You are the biggest tease.
Tease? You can tell me I'm a tease the next time my head is in between your legs.
I literally could not reply back to her. It took every thing I had not to tear off her clothes right there in the backseat of the car. She grinned again, satisfied with herself.
We pulled into the driveway of my house around noon and brought all of our stuff into the house. My parents dispersed to their room to unpack and honestly would probably head to the hospital soon to catch up on paperwork for the upcoming work week. So that left the remaining four of us were chilling in the foyer.
"Do you two want to stay? We can watch a movie or something?" Ellie offered.
Brittany smiled. "I'd love to."
Bryan sighed. "Um, I need to go home for a little and I'll be back in twenty minutes. Is that alright?"
"Sure. We'll pick out some really girly chick flick," Ellie teased.
"God… I'll see you in just a little." Bryan left the house with his overnight bag.
The three of us stood around in the foyer for a little before moving into the kitchen area. I went to the pantry and got food for all of us to munch on while we waited.
"Is he going to come back?" Brittany asked Ellie.
"Probably not, he's so sketchy."
"You never know, Ellie." I said.
"I'm so glad that I never had sex with him," Ellie bluntly said. "That would've been a hug fucking mistake."
I nodded, relieved. Brittany looked around, maybe feeling a little awkward. "Are you guys going to break up?" She asked.
"Eventually. I mean, it's inevitable."
While we were eating, we continued talking about Bryan. Apparently, they haven't been doing so well lately. They were fighting all the time and then acting like nothing happened.
We heard the door open and Bryan walk in.
"Hey," Ellie said. "Did you eat? We have stuff here if you want?"
"Nah. I grabbed something at home. Thanks though."
The four of us walked down to the basement, Ellie got a DVD ready and the previews started to roll. Brittany and I were on one couch, I was lying down with my legs on Brittany's lap. Ellie and Bryan were on another, sitting next to each other but not holding hands or anything.
I felt Brittany's soft fingers circling my shins and knees. I started drifting in and out of sleep, trying to pay attention to the movie. Brittany leaned down and whispered something in my ear. I wasn't quite sure what it was, I think probably something about the movie. I was just enjoying her nuzzling my ear.
All of a sudden, Bryan got up and stormed up the stairs and out of the basement, mumbling something under his breath. It was so abrupt that neither of us had time to react. I woke up and started to get up but Ellie waved me away. I sat back down and she went after him, whispering "...the hell?"
When she was out of the room, I paused the movie.
I told Brittany, "They should break up now." I yawned. "He's really getting under my nerves. I hate how he treats her."
Brittany shrugged. "Yeah, but it may be something different than what we see. You know what I mean? There may be more to the story."
"What? Like Ellie?"
"I mean, not necessarily. Like he could have something going on at home that we don't know about."
I contemplated. "You do have a point. I just think if that's what it is, he should just tell her and not be an asshole."
"Yeah, I guess we'll see." She squeezed my leg. "In the meantime..." She leaned over and kissed me.
We were interrupted by mild yelling coming from upstairs.
"...NO. IT'S NOT. I CAN'T BE AROUND THEM..." Bryan was yelling.
"..ARE SO...CLOSE MINDED. CAN'T BELIEVE I WASTED SO MUCH TIME WITH YOU."
We both got up and peered around the corner and up the stairs.
"I love you but these past days, I can't stand being with your sister and her girlfriend. It's not right and I can't act like I can tolerate it."
I looked at Brittany with wide eyes. She returned the look.
"What? So it's either you or my sister?"
"No. Because you'll choose her every time."
"Fuck yeah I will. We're done."
"Goodbye Ellie."
I heard his footsteps down the hallway towards the door.
Ellie yelled after him, "JUST SO YOU KNOW." I heard the footsteps pause. "IF I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN YOU OR HER GIRLFRIEND, IT STILL WOULDN'T BE YOU."
He continued to walk out and promptly shut the door. It wasn't a slam but it was loud enough to make his presence known.
Brittany looked at me. I sighed, "Shit."
"Should we...?" I nodded up the stairs
"Yeah."
We walked up the stairs and into the kitchen. Ellie was sitting on the island calmly eating Nutella from the jar. She always ate when she was stressed. But she wasn't crying or anything. She didn't even look mad.
I cautiously looked at her with kind eyes before taking. "Ellie. I'm sorry. This is my fault."
"No, it's not your fault at all." She sighed and put the lid on the Nutella. "We were on the rocks for the past few months. This was just the last straw. I'm sorry, actually, that you guys had to hear that. I know you've gone through so much shit already and I feel so bad that I was once so close to someone who was just like… those other assholes." Ellie was looking dejected, both form the break-up and from how she felt about what he said.
Brittany walked over and put her arm around Ellie. The loving gesture made my heart jump.
"Hey, sweet heart. You don't need to be sorry. It's no one's fault. It's just a break up. The cycle of things, it's not meant to be." Ellie smiled weakly at her. "It's definitely not something we haven't heard before. No big."
Ellie hugged Brittany with a smile.
A few moments later, I heard Brittany ask, "Santana, are you sleeping?"
I opened my eyes. I must have closed them momentarily. "Uh, no. Just, resting."
"Hmm, that's what you get for waking up early to swim. Go take a nap." She pointed towards the living room. "We'll finish the movie." She winked. I felt like Ellie was already in a better mood and I was pleased but still really tired.
"Okay. Thanks. Have fun."
I trudged towards the living room and laid on the couch for the continuation of my nap. I was more exhausted than I had thought. This whole summer, I never got to really relax yet. I didn't want to waste time sleeping when I could be swimming, training, with friends, or with Brittany. I think the whole wedding just wore me out. I couldn't imagine how Michelle felt.
Later on, I felt a warm body press up against my back and a hand around my abs. I couldn't seem to open my eyes but it was alright. I was so comfortable. Her fingers grazed my neck as she pushed my hair back and her lips gently landed on my neck, light as a feather. I sighed, almost a moan.
After a few ethereal moments, I finally shifted around and faced her. She held me in her arms. I forced my eyes open and mumbled, "You're really pretty."
She twisted me around and was on top of me, straddling me. She pressed her hips into mine and I pulled her into me. Our lips crashed together, both needing each other's. After the whole ordeal, I was so glad that I had Brittany and I knew that Brittany was perfect, she was so perfect. My tongue lingered on her bottom lip, tracing it back and forth.
Suddenly I stopped and pushed her forward. "Wait, where's Ellie?"
"She's 'getting rid of all of Bryan's shit'," she put air quotes around it.
"Okay, that will be awhile. Continue."
She grinned and came back down to my lips. Her hands were roaming my body, as were mine on hers. It wasn't too long before both of our shirts and pants were off. We were now just clad in our bras and panties. I gently pushed her off me and then pulled her into my lap so she was sitting on my legs, still straddling me. I kept constant lip contact with her, I didn't want to let go.
Simultaneously, our hands reached each other's underwear hems. I slipped my hand under her panties and felt her hot center. I teased the outside of it with my finger. She slipped my underwear down so it was just barely off. I pulled her closer with my other hand and kissed her neck.
I used my other hand to slip her underwear off. I felt her slide two fingers inside of me. I mimicked her actions but put three fingers inside of her. We were both pumping in and out of each other, climbing to a peak that we both desired. She then put another finger inside of me and we both went to our high.
I moaned. "Gosh, this feel so good. Ahh—Faster."
She obliged and pressed further into me. We both reached a peak at the Same time. I kept my fingers inside of her, slowing down, trying to savor the moment for as long as I could. She panted.
I kissed her as I pushed her underwear back on, she did the Same. She sat back and stood up off my lap next to the couch.
"That was hot," Brittany said. "Especially knowing that your parents or Ellie could've walked in anytime..."
"Sometimes, it's worth the risk. It definitely was this time." I got up and put my clothes back on while Brittany did the same. We sat back down on the couch.
"How long was I sleeping?"
"A long time. It's almost four."
"Four?! What did you and Ellie do after the movie?"
"Talked. We talked about a lot of stuff."
"Like what?"
She mocked zipped her lips. "Secrets."
"Oh?" I asked, intrigued.
She smiled coyly. "Yes. About you. She told me about the time about the tampons in Walmart. When you asked your mom about what tampons were and then proceeded to yell through the store that you see her use them all the time and wanted to know why."
My eyes widened. "She did not!"
Brittany nodded. "Mhmm. But it wasn't just embarrassing stuff. You know, Ellie and I always have heart-to-hearts."
"Yeah, you guys do. I mean, you could date her instead, I hear she's available."
"Oh! I heard that too. But I don't think that what we just did would be as much fun with her."
"Oh my gosh. I'm never going to get that image out of my head. I hate you!"
She grinned and laughed. "You're welcome."
Hey guys, sorry for the long delay again. Even though it is break, I'm still so busy! I'd say there's about 3 more chapters left. Thanks for sticking it out and thanks for reading! Leave a review if you'd like!
