Chapter 14:

Bonnie pushed her foot to the floor.

"Keep going at this speed and you'll be dead before you can get there." Arabella commented.

Bonnie sighed.

"The summoning spell has got a couple of hours left on it max if we don't get their soon I will have no choice but to do the spell." Bonnie said.

She looked in her review mirror silently preying that there were no cops out today.

"You could always call Damon and let him and Stefan go after Caroline." Arabella reasoned.

Bonnie shook her head.

"We both know he would kill them both in seconds." Bonnie said through gritted teeth the thought of Damon and Stefan dying more painful than she ever imagined.

Arabella sighed.

"They're going to find out eventually." Arabella pointed out.

Bonnie sighed.

"I know but hopefully you've worked your magic and me and Care will be on our way home by then." Bonnie said hopeful.

Arabella shook her head as Bonnie drove faster.

"I hope your right and this works." Arabella said finally accepting Bonnie's plan.

"Me too." Bonnie whispered.

Caroline fault against the silver chains trying not to wince as she did.

"You are only hurting yourself." Alderson commented as he came back into the room.

Alderson had been coming back and forth for the past two hours.

"I can't just sit here." Caroline reasoned.

Alderson nodded sympathetically as he sat in the chair opposite her once again.

"Your friend will come here and do the spell and then you can go home." He pointed out.

Caroline chocked back a sob.

"But if Bonnie dose the spell it will kill her." Caroline cried.

Alderson looked at her.

"You could give her your blood and she would be just like us." Alderson offered.

Caroline shook her head. Bonnie could never live like that for a witch to lose her powers it was just as bad as dying. Caroline remembered the first time after Bonnie came back to life when she thought she was powerless.

FLASHBACK

Caroline emptied the last of the vodka into her mouth as she looked round the room. Caroline was with Elena and Bonnie who had got together for a girls night. Elena was looking for more booze from Damon's collection but Caroline couldn't find Bonnie anywhere.

"Where is Bonnie?" Caroline asked.

Elena shrugged.

"She said something about going to see the stars." Elena replied.

Caroline frowned. She went about looking for Bonnie. She tried outside, the garden when she picked up voices from the roof. Caroline followed the voices when she saw Damon looking over to someone near the edge of the room. Caroline stepped forward to get a better look.

"Come away from the edge judgy." Damon ordered.

Caroline new she should make herself known but she couldn't she was paralysed unsure what would happen as she watched Bonnie sway on the edge of the roof Damon a few feet away from her.

"Why do you care?" Bonnie bit back.

Damon sighed.

A cold wind blew.

"You just got your life back you going to chuck it away again?" Damon asked.

Bonnie looked at him her eyes wide.

"I'm not going to kill myself." She said but Caroline couldn't quite believe her.

"Then step away from the edge." Damon reasoned.

Bonnie looked out around the forest.

"Come on witch step away from the edge." Damon said but as soon as he said it Caroline knew he said wrong.

Bonnie's eyes shot to his.

"But I am not a witch." Bonnie said tears fell from her eyes.

Damon's eyes softened.

"You'll always be a witch." Damon commented.

Bonnie shook her head as tears fell faster.

"It feels so empty," she whispered, the alcohol in her system making her be more willing to talk.

Bonnie looked back out at the forest and held her hand out as if to fill the wind.

"My powers used to make me feel at one with nature, now I just feel empty." Bonnie said.

Damon stepped forward slowly made his way towards Bonnie.

Bonnie turned to face him and he froze.

"Bonnie you are more than just your powers." Damon told her honestly.

Bonnie wobbled on her feet and Damon caught her easily.

"I wish you were right." Bonnie whispered.

END OF FLASHBACK

"Taking away a witches powers is almost as bad as killing them." Caroline argued.

Alderson glared at her.

"I know what powers means to a witch." Alderson spat back.

Caroline shook her head.

"No you don't, because if you did you would never have change Malcolm." Caroline argued.

Alderson moved quicker than Caroline could keep track of and he had her by the throat in seconds.

"You know nothing." Alderson said before he snapped her neck and everything went black again.

Damon slammed his fist on the table in the empty house.

"They were never here." Damon said in disbelief.

Stefan shook his head.

"Doesn't look like it." His brother added.

"Now what?" Damon questioned.

They both new there was only so long they could hold Bonnie off for.

Stefan shrugged.

"I don't know but I do know it won't be long before the summoning spell runs out." Stefan commented.

Damon looked down at his watch they had maybe three hours if that.

"Let's get back to the house maybe Arabella will know somewhere else we can try." Damon offered.

Stefan nodded in agreement and they headed out again.

Caroline hated the few moments after she came back to life the gasping for breath left you feeling like you were drowning.

"Here drink this." Alderson said lifting a cup of blood into Caroline's mouth.

Caroline drink hungrily.

"I'm sorry about that you brought up a sore memory for me." Alderson said as if snapping her neck was nothing.

After Caroline drunk the last drop Alderson sat back in the chair and they stared at each other.

"I asked Arabella if she would let me turn her once." Alderson commented.

Caroline's eyes widened.

"What happened?" Caroline asked.

Alderson sighed.

FLASHBACK

Matthew held Arabella in his arms as he gently stroked her ever growing belly.

"I'm afraid." Arabella whispered.

Matthew kissed her shoulder.

"What off?" he asked.

Arabella put her hand on her bump.

"I love this baby I do but I know giving birth to him or her will be painful, I could die." Arabella said.

Matthew sighed.

"I will get you through this." Matthew promised.

Arabella turned to face him.

"How?" she asked.

Matthew looked into her eyes and saw real fear.

"My blood." He replied.

"And if I die with your blood in my system I will turn." Arabella pointed out.

Matthew kissed her cheek.

"Would it really be that bad to be with me forever?" He asked a smile on his lips.

Arabella smiled.

"Of course not but losing my powers would be unbearable." Arabella replied.

Matthew kissed her.

"It will be ok, I promise." He said begging her to believe him.

END OF FLASHBACK

"She agreed that if it came down to it she would rather change then leave me or the children." Alderson explained.

Caroline shook her head in disbelief.

"Why would she do that?" Caroline asked.

"Love makes us do strange things." Alderson replied.

Stefan looked at the map in disbelief as Damon went to check on Bonnie. Looks like Bonnie had done a summoning spell.

"She's gone." Damon said.

Stefan looked at his brother.

"I know." Stefan replied pointing to the map.

Damon looked over.

"How could we have been so stupid, if there was anyone that cell couldn't hold it would have to be Bonnie, wouldn't it?" Damon said suddenly mad at himself.

Stefan shook his head.

"Looks let's just find them." Stefan said.

Damon nodded.

Bonnie closed the car door.

"You are the last of the Bennett bloodline are you sure you want to do this?" Arabella asked.

Bonnie looked over at her.

"There is no over choice." She replied and before she could let herself think it over she headed into the shop.

"I told you your friend would show up." Alderson said as they entered the back room.

Caroline was chained to a chair opposite him.

"You ok?" Bonnie asked Caroline.

Caroline nodded.

"Caroline and I were becoming friends." Alderson said.

"Friends of yours don't normally last that long, do they Matthew?" Arabella said making her entrance.

Alderson eyes darted over to Arabella.

"Arabella," he breathed in disbelief.
