Chapter 17:

Lord Alderson sighed.

"I want you to kill me." He replied.

Bonnie looked up at him like he had lost the plot. Maybe he had. After all he was asking her to end his life. But by doing that he could have the one thing he always wanted. A family. No. Not just a family, his family. Michael, Emily and Arabella. He a dreamed of that life, a life where they were all together. No vampires. No witches. Nothing supernatural. Just a man who loved a women and brought two children into their free and happy world.

"You want me to what?" Bonnie asked in disbelief.

Lord Alderson smiled at her sadly.

"I want my life back and your right the only way I can have that is to leave this world and move on the next, where my family are." Lord Alderson pointed out.

Bonnie stood up, she was tired he could see that. A witch even a powerful one could only use so much magic in a short period of time and Bonnie had used more than her fair share over the past few days.

"What about Malcolm?" Bonnie asked walking over to his oldest friend.

Lord Alderson looked over at Malcolm. Malcolm was his truest and most honest friend.

"Are you just going to abandon him?" Bonnie added.

Lord Alderson knew what she was doing but there was nothing that was going to change his mind, not now he knew what he could have by leaving this world.

"Malcolm has been in my service far too long, he deserves a life of his own." Lord Alderson reasoned.

Bonnie looked over at him and shook her head.

"Then get Malcolm to kill you." She demanded.

Lord Alderson sighed as he sat down in the seat she vacated.

"Malcolm would make it a quick death and after all I have done, I deserve to fill that pain." He confessed.

Bonnie shook her head. Tears leaving her weary eyes.

"I can't kill you," she whispered.

Lord Alderson stood and slowly approached her.

"Please Bonnie." He begged.

She shook her head tears falling faster.

"I tortured you there must be some part of you that wants to get back at me." He reasoned.

Bonnie shook her head again, this time violently.

"No, that's not who I am." Bonnie said.

He had already knew that she wasn't that type of person but he was going to try everything to get her to fulfil his wishes.

Bonnie couldn't believe what he was asking. She knew that he had made up his mind and that she wasn't going to change his mind easily but she had to at least try.

"Bonnie I am a murder. I have killed to get the things that I want. I deserve to pay the price for that." Alderson reasoned.

Bonnie shook her head.

"By that standard I should die too." Bonnie pointed out.

Alderson frowned at her.

"I have killed because I wanted to keep my friends safe, do I deserve to pay for that?" Bonnie questions.

Alderson shook his head violently.

"Of course not." He said.

"That is not the same thing." He added.

"How can it not be?" Bonnie questioned.

Alderson caught her eyes with his own.

"You have always done the thing you do to protect your own. I have always put my wants and needs about everyone else, regardless of the consequences." Alderson explained.

Tears filled Bonnies eyes as she realised she was fighting a losing battle.

"Please don't make me do this." Bonnie begged.

Alderson smiled sadly.

"I want this Bonnie, I want to pay for what I have done and I want a chance to be with my family please give me that?" He asked softly.

A sob broke from Bonnie's throat as she slowly nodded in agreement.

Lord Alderson held Malcolm down as Bonnie slowly brought him back around, knowing his first instinct would be to go after Bonnie.

Bonnie placed her hand on Malcolm's shoulder and closed her eyes, while muttering a spell he didn't understand. Malcolm jerked forward and Lord Alderson held on to Malcolm tightly to stop him from going too far.

"Where is she?" Malcolm asked while he got his bearings.

Lord Alderson shook his head and explained to Malcolm in a low voice what he had asked Bonnie to do.

Malcolm looked at him astonished.

"My Lord?" Malcolm asked clearly confused.

Lord Alderson smiled fondly at his oldest friend.

"In all the years we have been friends you have never once called me Matthew." Lord Alderson commented.

Malcolm shook his head.

"Sir?" Malcolm said still confused.

Lord Alderson helped Malcolm stand.

"You have been my most faithful and trusted friend for years but its past time that I release you my friend." Lord Alderson concluded.

Malcolm shook his head again.

"If you must do this then let me do it. Why must it be her?" Malcolm asked pointing to Bonnie.

Lord Alderson sighed and smiled sadly.

He put his hand on Malcolm's shoulder.

"You would make my death easy but it is not what I deserve and you no it." Lord Alderson explained.

Malcolm closed his eyes and sighed in defeat.

Lord Alderson clasped his friend shoulder one last time before looking over at Bonnie.

"Are you ready?" he asked her.

Bonnie shook her head.

"Let's do this." She said anyway.

Lord Alderson stepped forward.

"Thank you Bonnie." He said as Bonnie muttered some words he assumed was a spell and pain shot through his head.

The pain increased and he howled falling to the floor.

"I'm sorry." Bonnie whispered as the pain increased so much Lord Alderson vision become blurry and he was beginning to find it harder and harder to stay awake.

Bonnie closed her eyes as Alderson shouted in pain as if she could somehow block the sound out.

"I am so sorry." She whispered again as she muttered another spell.

Bonnie opened her eyes just in time to see Alderson clutch his chest in pain.

"What are you doing to him?" Malcolm asked from beside her.

She looked over at Malcolm tears in her eyes.

"I am giving him a heart attack and an aneurysm over and over again." She explained.

"You are the anchor you are going to feel this once his dead." Malcolm pointed out.

"I know." She said softly before muttering another spell.

Alderson screamed out in pain again.

Bonnie took a deep breath preparing herself to take the final blow.

"You should get out of here, my friends will be here soon and there are bound to blame you when I scream in pound." Bonnie explained.

Malcolm looked over at Alderson.

"I promise I will bury him with his family." Bonnie said.

Malcolm nodded.

"Goodbye Matthew." Malcolm said softly before fleeing the scene.

Bonnie wished she could go with him. She sighed once more before pushing her power to its limits and saying one last spell to bring Alderson's life to an end.

Damon glared over to the shop as he heard a male shout in pain.

"We have to go in there." He shouted in frustration.

Stefan put a hand on his brothers back.

"That's not Bonnie and it sounds like she is winning, we need to let her do whatever she is needs to do." Stefan reasoned.

Damon nodded but he didn't like it.

He looked back towards the building just as Bonnies recognisable scream tore through the air.

Damon moved before anyone could stop him but he didn't think they would as he ran towards the shop.

"Bonnie." He shouted as she screamed again.

When Damon got to the basement of the shop Damon looked around.

Alderson laid on the floor blood surrounding his clearly dead body.

"What happened?" Stefan asked catching up to him Caroline not far behind.

"That's a good question." Damon mumbled as his eyes caught sighed of Bonnie.

Bonnie was gripping the wall as she gritted through the pain as some passed over through her.

Damon charged over to her.

"Bonnie?" he asked panicking.

Bonnie gripped his forearms.

"I'm ok." She muttered softly.

Damon shook his head as he looked at her. Her face was pale and she was clearly in pain. Tear drops stained her cheeks as she swayed in his arms.

Damon pulled her closer to him.

"I gave him back his family." She said through gritted teeth as she tried to fight back the pain.

Damon had no idea what she was talking about but as Bonnie's eyes rolled to the back of her head and she passed out that was the last thing on his mind.

Damon lifted her into his arms and carried her home.

Hey everyone I just wanted to say thank you for reading and your reviews I love reading them.

When I write I never truly have an idea where a story is going to go all I know is how it's going to start and I how I want it to end.

I never initially intended for Lord Alderson to be a likeable character but as the story went on and ideas came to me I couldn't help but really like him. One of you lovely people asked me if it was wrong to emphasize with Lord Alderson, in answer to your question I believe the answer is no and I feel completely the same way.

I have one more chapter planned and I hopefully will have that to you by the end of next week.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the update :)
