The spattering of rain against the glass panes of Cam's home was what kept Nixie's attention. She continued to glance out the window with high hopes that the rain would stop falling and she would be able to return home. It was a rather stupid idea to go out wandering when she had not been paying attention to where she was going, but she couldn't help it. She would never admit it to anybody else, but Nixie felt as if she were being drawn to the house; she never usually strayed so far away from places that she did not know.

"Would you like a blanket?" Cam asked, breaking the spell that seemed to be keeping Nixie's attention focused on the rain.

"No thank you," Nixie replied, barely glancing towards him. She could not believe that she was stuck at Cam's house in the middle of a rainstorm. Nixie felt as if he was someone that she could not trust, but at the same time, she felt like he learned his lesson; she was partly at fault for what had happened, though Sirena and Lyla would have never blamed her.

There was silence for a moment.

"I don't think that the storm is going to be letting up any time soon," Cam admitted, looking past Nixie at the downpour. He let his eyes fall to her dark hair, and from there, to her face until his eyes met hers. Cam smirked his casual, all-knowing smirk and Nixie - try as she might - could not help but smile back at him. "You might be here a while."

Cam thought that his attempts at conversation were going to be met only with silence as she dropped her gaze from him, so he was startled when she spoke.

"Thank you," she said quietly, looking down at her fingers as she interlaced them. "For, uh, finding me in your storage thing."

"No problem," Cam smirked. He had been very surprised when he spotted her in their little storage house, but he couldn't say that he had been disappointed.

"Uh, do you know when the rain's going to stop? You said I might be here for a while and I think Lyla and Sirena will be worried about where I've gone," Nixie said. She raised her head so her eyes would once again gaze on Cam's tanned skin.

"I'm not sure," he admitted. "I'll have to check the weather reports, but you can use my phone if you'd like. It's up in my room, but if you want some privacy you can just go hang out there while you're making your call. I'm not really a big fan of other people listening in on my phone calls."

"I haven't made many," Nixie said with amusement. "I'm not exactly sure how it feels to have other people listen in on my phone calls."

"It's kind of weird," Cam told her. "Come on, I'll go grab my phone."

Nixie followed Cam up the stairs and down the hallway towards what must have been his bedroom. The navy walls matched the color of his blankets, Nixie noticed. She found that she liked the color. Before she could stop the words, they spilled out of her mouth.

"The walls are as blue as your eyes," she said, sounding fascinated. Nixie bit back her tongue to keep her from saying more, though she had no idea why she allowed herself to utter the compliment to him.

"Thank you?" he said, though his comment came out more like a question than anything else. His eyebrows knit together in confusion and Nixie could not help but think about how vulnerable it made him look. Vulnerability was something that would be of use to him after what he did. The rest of the girls - and Zak - thought that Cam was just some crazy, power-hungry boy, but vulnerability made Cam seem more like what she knew of him before he tried to steal the trident.

"Here's the phone," Cam said, handing Nixie the his cell. "I'll be downstairs. Just let me know when you're done."

Nixie nodded awkwardly at him as she took the phone from his hands and offered him a small smile as he departed the room, shutting the large, wooden door behind him. Nixie stared at the phone, trying to remember the number of the phone Rita recently purchased for Sirena, since she was the one who was out more than the other two. When Nixie finally remembered, she dialed the number and quickly pressed the phone to her ear. She listened to the ringing four times before someone finally picked up.

"Hello?" the other voice said, sounding a lot like Sirena.

"Sirena?" Nixie asked, just in case

"Oh my gosh, Nixie is that you?" Sirena chirped happily, though Nixie could hear Lyla shouting for Sirena to hand over the phone in the background before Nixie had a chance to answer.

"Nixie!" Lyla shouted into the phone, causing Nixie to move it farther from her ear. "Where are you? We're all worried sick!"

"I wandered a little too far from the house," Nixie replied coolly, not wanting her friends to panic. She was debating whether or not to tell them that she was with Cam. The idea would have sickened them and caused them great worry, but it would have worried them more if she refrained from telling them that she was okay and she was with a friend. Of sorts.

"Where are you though?" Lyla asked, this time sounding less angry.

"I'm...at Cam's," Nixie answered slowly, unsure of how Lyla was going to react to the news.

"You're...at Cam's." Lyla sounded more as if she was trying to comprehend the statement like Nixie had poached a foreign idea. "Nixie what are you doing there? He's dangerous!"

"I got caught up," Nixie told Lyla, not wanting to say that she had gotten herself lost and fled to a random person's shed. "He found me and...I guess you could say that he saved me again. I mean, I'm grateful, Lyla, and I would love to come back to Rita's right now, but I can't."

"Why did you have to go running off before a great storm?" Lyla asked gruffly, beginning to sound less worried. She still didn't trust Cam, but at least she knew that he'd saved her once more.

"I was unhappy," Nixie replied simply.

"Yeah, but-" Lyla stopped talking mid-sentence and Nixie heard some shouting in the background. "Oh bother," Lyla said once she'd returned her attention to the phone. "It looks like Zac got caught in the rain as well and he's just showed up in Rita's pool. I suppose that I have to go clean up the sopping wet mess that's been made on the floor now. I'll call you back later! Watch your back! You can't trust him."

"I know, I know," Nixie said with a roll of her eyes. Lyla had told her many times that Cam was not to be trusted. Nixie hung up the phone and began to make her way back down to the living room when she noticed a picture that appeared to be tucked into the frame of Cam's mirror. Nixie approached it and fingered the worn edges and saw her staring down at a picture of herself.
