Disclaimer: I don't own TVD or TO, if I did it would be very, very, very different.

Author's note: From now on this is a full-fledged multi chapter story. As this amazing plot, that Angel of Darkness Forever came up with, plus helped me writing it, wouldn't leave me alone until it got down to paper. So I'd like to thank Angel of Darkness Forever for all the help!

Curiosity

Davina was very happy that she managed to unknot the rope; it finally lowered to the table it was originally set upon. She couldn't believe how much concentration was required to do something that seemed this simple. With a sigh of relief, she felt the release of a magical bond between two people. She knew that the Original vampire had more in mind with this specific spell than simply helping her, but she hadn't questioned his motives further as she truly needed the help that his mother's grimoires could provide.

Smiling down at the rope one last time, Davina went to her bed and sat down upon the soft white comforter, leaning against the mountain of pillows haphazardly thrown on it. Her eyes settled on the few old pages that she got from Elijah earlier that day. Now, she was the one who could ask for a spell when the eldest vampire in existence returned as he promised.

Davina sighed contentedly before closing her eyes and began to concentrate on what kind of spell she wanted. There weren't a lot of things that interested her for the moment. However, she was very curious about the Original vampire. Davina shivered at the crystal clear mental image as she remembered Elijah's expression when she offered him a drop of her blood. She wanted to know who it could be that Elijah dreamed about with that kind of intensity. Davina had never seen desire like the one in his eyes. It wasn't only lust that had clouded his dark gaze that day. It was something much deeper, though desire was strong. It was as though he would throw away anything and everything if that someone merely asked it of him.

Davina opened her eyes and sat up as an idea came to her mind. Then, she quickly went to her dresser and pulled out the top drawer. There, hidden carefully away, was a glass phial holding a deep crimson liquid. She took it out, holding it up to the light as she examined the precious substance. When she started to look into how Marcel could kill an Original, she had gathered some of Elijah's blood into several glass phials. This was the last one and she just found out what she would do with it. Marcel might not be pleased, but at the moment, she really couldn't care less what he thought.

In the last month, Davina had become quite proficient in mind magics. Most of the time, she needed the person to be present when she performed whatever Marcel wanted to gain from their minds or deleting some kind of sensitive information, like she did with Rebekah. But in this case, it wouldn't be necessary, as she had experimented with Elijah quite a bit. Plus she knew parts of the memory she wanted access to, she just wanted his thoughts that were paired with it.

She got an ornate silver goblet from a shelf and brought her ingredients to the table that the rope was on. Davina poured the blood into the goblet and added a few herbs to the concoction before releasing a breath and closing her eyes. First, she concentrated on reaching Elijah's mind. She didn't have to search for very long. It seemed that he was currently speaking with his rude sister on the phone about some girl going missing. It would have been easier if he wasn't so concentrated on whatever he was doing. Davina gasped because of the concentration it took to pay attention, as the Original thought, analyzed and strategized in a staggering speed. It took a few additional minutes to center herself and get used to the sensation. But once she managed it, she tiptoed through his mind as she looked for the memory when they spent the day together. It was very hard to find it; she had never accessed a more complex mind. Rebekah's mind was a walk in the park compared to this. She started to sweat, but finally managed to find the memory she was looking for. Davina began sifting through it as fast as she dared, because she was feeling the toll of the spell. She didn't have much time before the connection would break or her presence would be discovered.

Davina almost gave up before she stumbled upon the image of a truly beautiful brunette girl with warm brown doe-eyes. She blushed hotly as she got a front seat for Elijah's fantasy which played out in the mere seconds it took for him to take her blood from the pin and release her wrist. This dream was so much longer.

The love and tenderness in his eyes as he cradled the girl's hands in his and then kissed them caused Davina's heart to clench and her breath to catch. She knew she should leave right then because she had seen all she needed to of this memory, but the witch was mesmerized. The kiss that Elijah placed on the girl's lips quickly went from gentle to passionate. Teeth and tongues, as much as lips, moving against each other in a dance as old as time, but new just for them.

His mouth soon sought the girl's neck, not as a vampire would, with the intent to drink, but as a man bringing his lover pleasure. Her moans and cries as she writhed in his arms had Davina squirming, but she was spellbound at how the most controlled vampire she had ever met was coming undone.

When he tipped her back onto the bed, his hands removing her clothing for his exploring mouth, Davina knew she had to get out. It was far more intimate than she had anticipated it, given the few seconds he had had to create this moment.

This was no place for her. Seeing him kiss this girl, no this woman, even if only in fantasy, was one thing, but witnessing his dreams of making love to her, felt as though she somehow was tarnishing his longing for her.

Davina looked away from the couple on her bed and slipped out of the memory as fast as possible without alerting the Original that someone else was accessing something so personal.

Davina began to look for the same girl in Elijah's mind and to her surprise she found three different girls with the same face. They were obviously not the same person despite their physical likeness. The first one wore a long dress that she was certain it was out of fashion for several centuries now, and had a jadedness in her eyes that indicated a lot of hardships in her life. The second one also wore a long dress but it seemed a little bit like the ones women wore at the Renaissance Era. Davina had an aversion to this one immediately as she could see through the warm façade. This was a calculating bitch who loved only herself. When she reached the third one, Davina knew that she was the one. This was the woman that the Original adored with his entire being. She had the same kind eyes and radiated with an inner glow that only warm, loyal people had. Davina concentrated on this girl and quickly found out that her name was Elena.

The connection broke as Davina collapsed to her knees, sweat dripping down her face. Her breathing was rapid and ragged like she had just run a marathon. Tears were falling and she scrubbed them away.

This took more out of her than she had ever imagined. She'd have liked to stay a little bit longer in the Original's mind to find a few concrete memories of this Elena beside the impressions she got. But she would manage with these. His mind was far too complicated for her to stay any longer without putting herself in danger, either from exertion, or from his discovery.

Davina tried to stand up but was overcome with dizziness and decided to rest for a little bit more before trying to stand up again. She needed to recuperate, she realized as she placed a hand against her forehead and rubbed it with the heel of her palm. It seemed that this little mind trip would result in a massive migraine. After half an hour, she decided that she was strong enough to get up and drag herself to her bed to lie down on it and sleep more comfortably.

Her throat was tight and her eyes burned as she recalled Elijah's obvious devotion to Elena in his fantasy. He loved this woman so deeply and he was one of the most powerful vampires in the world, the most powerful if she didn't count the hybrid. So why had he done nothing to claim her? He could have, so easily. But he stood by, in silent adoration, allowing his heart to be broken. All for her happiness.

Her last thoughts, before she fell into a deep slumber, were a few ideas on how to find this mysterious Elena. To find her and bring her to a man who worshiped the ground she walked on but did nothing to pursue her.
