Rescued
The two Originals were making their way to their old home, which now served as Marcel's compound and home. Elijah's desperate need to find Elena made them run faster, harder than they ever had since the night when their mother wanted to sacrifice Finn to kill them all. As they reached the city limits, Elijah stopped the first car coming in their direction. When the poor human male got out of his vehicle to yell at them for being in the middle of the road, to Klaus surprise, Elijah just snapped his neck before he headed to the driver's seat of the car.
Elijah couldn't bring himself to care that he had killed needlessly. Elena, a woman he longed to call his, was once again suffering because of Katerina, because of his family.
Klaus glanced at his brother as they drove. The older man's hands were tense on the steering wheel, his mouth a thin line. It was a miracle the steering wheel was still intact.
Klaus started to feel a worry that he rarely did as he rode in silence beside an enraged Elijah. His moral brother had just murdered an innocent bystander in his impatience; something he avoided doing at all costs, especially in the last fifty years, if his sources were correct, and they always were. The hybrid wondered again, just how deeply did Elijah's feelings for Elena run?
On the other hand, any goon of Marcel's who was idiotic enough to stand in his big brother's way tonight would meet a swift end. Judging from what he had seen, most of them would try it. And let's face it, that was a serious boon in Klaus's books.
After an additional 10 minutes, which Elijah perceived as hours they were finally at the gate of their old town house. They swiftly entered the atrium where a few vampires mingled. Elijah let his senses out completely as he searched for the young vampire.
Most of the time he refrained from doing this as it was able to cause a monumental migraine. When they cleared the seven hundred years, their powers and abilities reached a point where they became too sensitive if they didn't restrain a better portion of it. This was the reason why it cost the better part of a day for Niklaus and him to track Hayley down in the Bayou, because they were unwilling to extend their senses beyond a certain point.
After only a few seconds, Elijah's sensitive ears picked up the moans of agony through the thick, old walls. And however distorted the voice became, to him, it was abundantly clear that the sounds belonged to Elena. This made him even more furious. They had dared to touch what was his! He could feel his fangs extending, though for the moment he was still able to control the change in his eyes and the dark veins before they could appear.
Elijah knew exactly where Elena was. She was in the old dungeons under the house which were accessible through a narrow, spiral staircase behind a hidden door from the far end of the atrium. He made his way in that direction.
Klaus followed a few steps behind his brother. He only felt disgust for the morons who puffed themselves up and believed that they could do anything to deter them from their destination. The one who wore a daylight ring opened his mouth to speak, his stance arrogant. But before a sound could leave his mouth, Elijah backhanded him with a force that took his head clear off his neck.
Klaus smirked sadistically as he saw and smelt the quickly growing terror of the ten other vampires who were in the atrium as they witnessed Elijah's display of just how easy it was for him to end their undead lives.
The eldest Original was normally so calm, so controlled, that the younger vampires tended to overlook him as a threat. But oh how wrong they were!
Elijah tore the hearts out of two others as they rushed at him. His face was a hard mask of death. These younglings, none of them cleared even twenty years as a vampire, were fed too much foolish dogma by Marcel. And they would pay with their lives for their blind loyalty.
It didn't even take two full minutes for Elijah to kill them all. They didn't attack Klaus, not that Elijah left a chance for them to, as Marcel ordered them to never provoke the hybrid.
Somewhere through the fog of rage, Elijah felt slight surprise that his brother's ex-protégé had been so neglectful of warning his men about just how powerful the Originals were. It was centuries ago that he was attacked when his attackers were aware of who he was.
Finally, there were no more to oppose his entrance to the staircase. He descended, sensing that Niklaus was closely following him. When his foot settled on the last step his cold, intense gaze zeroed in on Elena's form.
As the scent of her blood struck him, he was no longer capable of preventing the shift to his vampiric features. A horrifying growl left his throat as he took in the scene. There were three standing around his beautiful Elena, Marcel, his lackey Diego, and another man whose name Elijah didn't know. No matter, their death warrant was already signed, they were standing corpses as of right now.
Marcel turned around at the sound coming from behind him, just to meet the murderous gaze of Elijah. He had never seen the oldest brother's face contorted into the visage of a vampire.
Behind Elijah stood Klaus, his expression showing only pity. That alone made Marcel's survival instincts go into overdrive.
Elijah got a glimpse of Elena as Marcel turned towards him. She was suspended by heavy manacles on a hook. Her bare feet were a good 10 inches above the ground, which had a pool of blood directly under her. Her upper body was completely bare, her jeans in tatters and soaked with blood and vervain. Elijah saw very distinctive marks curving onto her shoulders and sides towards her front, which meant only one thing, that she had been severely whipped. Her face was also swollen and full of small cuts and smeared with blood.
Before any of the occupants could react, Elijah tore out Diego's whole spine out in one piece. Then, he turned his unforgiving gaze to the unknown vampire and, not a moment later, his heart dropped to the ground. Elijah turned towards his next target, Marcel. He wouldn't be granted an easy death like his minions were. His slow, predatory approach towards Marcel was intercepted by his brother who placed himself between them.
Elijah snarled at Niklaus. He wouldn't tolerate any interference in this. "Get out of my way."
Klaus took a step closer to Elijah, the tentativeness in his every move only visible to Marcel because he knew his old mentor so well.
"Brother, you need to concentrate on Elena." For the first time where the doppelganger was concerned, Klaus voice was serious without any hint of sarcasm.
Elijah felt like he had been gutted at the reminder. Niklaus was right, he could deal with Marcel later. But Elena needed him now. Without another word, he turned his attention to Elena. He quickly shed his jacket and thrust it into his brother's hands. He walked over to Elena and around her to assess the damage to her back before he touched her in any way. Thankfully Elena was unconscious, so for the moment she had escaped the agony her body was in. As Elijah's eyes fell onto her back, his face shifted again, a low growl escaping from his lips. Elena's back was shredded beyond recognition, it was nothing more but a mass of bloody, matted knots with a sea of blood. He could also smell that the shallower cuts on her neck and sides had traces of vervain in them. Elijah only hoped that she wouldn't awaken when he lifted her off the hook. He quickly got back to face Elena, in the meantime cataloging any damage. It was obvious that her every rib had been broken earlier on the torture and not all of them had time to heal. Both of her knees were also in the painful process of mending, which was stopped by the massive amount of blood loss. As he looked at her face again, he could saw traces of blood around her eyes that indicated that they had been partially gouged out.
Deciding on how to touch her to cause the least amount of pain, Elijah reached for Elena, wrapping one of his arms around her upper thighs and lifting her, while with the other he snapped the chains of her manacles.
"Shhh." Elijah tried to sooth her when he heard a whimpering moan of pain escape her lips. "I've got you, Elena."
Fortunately, she hadn't awakened. Elijah held her like someone would a small child, aside from one of his arms wasn't on her back but at the base of her neck. He turned towards Klaus, telling him with his eyes to blanket Elena with his previously discarded jacket as gently as possible.
When Klaus finished and stepped back to let Elijah pass with his precious burden, he heard his brother's cool tone. "Shackle him, don't let him leave this dungeon! Any who tries to help him, dies."
Marcel tensed even more as he saw Klaus nod at Elijah's command. He knew that his only chance of survival was to persuade Klaus to let him run.
Klaus tracked his brother with his senses as far as the front gates, before turning his attention to Marcel, a deep frown on his face. He was quite accomplished in the arts of torture and Elena was a right mass. He observed Elijah's every movement and reaction while they was down here. He couldn't believe that Elijah managed to hide his real emotions so well for so long. His brother had found the woman who he would want to spend his eternity with. Klaus didn't understand why Elijah hadn't approached Elena when she was turned into a vampire. He could easily understand why his big brother hadn't done a thing while Elena was human and actually wanted to stay human, but after that… Klaus shrugged, he would need to ask him.
"Klaus, please…" Marcel begged with an edge of desperation in his voice.
"No Marcel." Klaus stated with finality. "You will stay here, bound, awaiting Elijah's return. The most I can do for you, is try to convince him to let you live after you have served your punishment." With a faint smirk, he said, "Elena Gilbert just singlehandedly ripped your kingdom away from you."
Without further comment, Klaus rushed to Marcel and snapped his neck catching him before he reached the floor. He took him to the left wall which had chains secured on it. He tried one of them to see if it would hold a vampire as old as Marcel. When it didn't break under the strain, he set him up, then left the place, closing the not so secret door on it.
Currently, no one was in the place besides him and the bodies. He sat down in one of the chairs in the atrium, pulling out his phone dialing his little sister's number. She picked it up on the first ring.
"What happened, Nik?" Rebekah cut to the chase in an impatient voice, though worry colored it as well.
"Hello to you too, Bekah." Klaus teased. "We found Elena. She was tortured quite thoroughly. Elijah took her to our house. I'd advise you to not go there. Take Hayley and the little witch to one of the hotels."
Klaus heard his sister sigh in resignation. "How bad is he?"
"For the moment, he will have all of his attention focused on Elena." Klaus had a deep frown on his face. "We can only hope that seeing to her recovery will be enough to keep him from snapping."
After speaking for a few more minutes, Klaus ended the call. They wouldn't go near the house tonight, but tomorrow morning they'd have to return.
A small smile lifted his lips, when the thought of Hayley entered his mind. He'd been under the impression that Elijah developed some kind of crush on the wolf, but he was wrong. Hayley was nothing more than someone who was high maintenance enough to distract his brother from his, most likely, constant longing for Elena.
And Davina had figured it out. Clever little witch. No wonder she was so scared to tell Elijah that Elena was in trouble.
Klaus chuckled softly.
To my guest reviewers:
AF: Thank You!
DarkAngelmi818: Sorry, I'll not involve the TVD plot into this as I have no idea where to start to untangle the mess that is currently describes the life in MF. Actually, it won't be long at all before Elena and Elijah get together in this one. I won't trash Hayley too thouroughly… Okay, forget my previous sentence, I will give a piece of my mind about Hayley. Sorry, but I've never liked her character and what the writers did in TO haven't endeared her to me. But I'll keep things within reason. I won't villeanize anyone in this story. I hope you still enjoyed the new chapter. AND Thank you for the detailed review!
bellislefan: Thank for the review! And don't worry, Hayley will get what she reasonably deserves.
Guest: Thanks! I like to play with Davina. She is my favorite new character on the show.
Guest: Thank You!
A/N: Now, I have a question for all of you, dear readers. A few of you mentioned that they were curious about what happened in Fiorenza. The question is: would you like me to write a one-shot about what happened there? If enough interest is showed in this idea I will write it.
Please share your thoughts with me. :)
