Legend:

'Thoughts'

"Talking"

"Jutsu"

Previously...

Hinata turned her head from him, earning yet another growl from the impatient man, "What do you want to eat?." She asked, face flushed.

Sasuke smirked, "You."

He captured her lips hungrily and purred in response to her moan. 'I'll never let you leave me.' He thought.

Chapter Eleven

Present Day...

"Naruto, how are you holding up?." Shikamaru asked as he stood beside the blonde Hokage looking down at the village they both loved dearly.

Naruto sighed behind his large desk, "I feel sad but happy at the same time."

Shikamaru turned to look at him, "You did what you could for them, no one will hold that against you. However, there is gossip going around saying you let Sakura off to easy."

"I know." He whispered, "Some Hokage i am, huh."

"What's done is done. As your advisor i will say this, in the future, you can't let emotions stand in the way of your job. Sakura tried to kill Hinata, and on top of that almost cost of the lives of two civilians. Might i add those particular civilians are the very people who serve you your ramen."

Naruto leaned back in his chair, placing judgement today on his team-mates plus Hinata had finally taken it's toll on him, "What does that teme have that i don't got?." He asked himself outloud.

Shikamaru frowned, 'Was he not listening to w word i just said?.' He thought.

"My feelings are changing, Shikamaru." Naruto mumbled, "I...I think I might be in a position where I don't understand my heart anymore."

'I see where this is going.' Shikamaru thought. "My father always said women are gods to us men. They make us, love us, and cherish us. In my defense, I think they're all just troublesome." He said.

Naruto laughed, "Everything is troublesome to you."

Shikamaru grinned, "Not everything."

"I never noticed her you know, and I'm willing to bet you know who I'm talking about." Naruto said quietly, by now he'd closed his eyes. Paperwork was long forgotten. It was just him and his friend, not advisor and Hokage.

"Yeah, I do." He replied.

Naruto stayed silent and allowed his mind to drift.

Flashback

Naruto's POV

Day 8 of Training - 22 MORE DAYS TO GO before Jounin Exam

"I'm going out for a bit." I said.

I didn't let Shikamaru have a say in what I did today. I was frustrated, tired, hurt and yearning for something I still couldn't acquire. She came in the name of Haruno Sakura. I tossed my hat onto my table and made it out of the window seconds before Shikamaru could tackle to me the ground. I had to say, he would've made a great Hokage had it not been for my ramblings about claiming Hokage from a young age. I smiled at the memory. I didn't have a destination in mind, I figured i'd keep going until my chakra ran out.

'Yeah right.' I thought. My chakra had no bounds, especially with Kurama by my side.

A few yards away I heard a rather large explosion go off. It piqued my interest and being the person I am, I went to investigate. My feet took me to the Uchiha Compound. I lowered my chakra considerably, no scratch that, I lowered it to the point where not even Sasuke would be able to detect. I was being ignorant to think that. I stayed hidden behind a tree and strained my eyes to see what was happening.

"What the fuck?." I mutter, eyes wide.

Sasuke had his arms wrapped securely around Hinata from behind. I felt that twinge in my gut again. What was Sasuke whispering to her? Why wasn't she doing anything about it? They stood still for the briefest of moments, then I saw her face and change and...

"Juukenpou Ichigekishin." I heard her cry.

I know I had no Byakugan or Sharingan, but I could definately see that that attack of hers was very effective. It seemed to repel Sasuke away from her using a burst of chakra she used from a certain place on her body.

'Not bad.' I thought.

I moved alittle closer, ensuring of course that I lowered my chakra that much more. I tensed slightly when Sasuke looked my way. I dug my back into the tree, hoping he couldn't detect me. When I heard talking, I craned my neck to watch some more. Safe.

"Your slacking." Sasuke snarled.

"G-gomen, i..-"

She was cut off by a hard backhand. Every muscle in my body tensed, it took so much self-restraint for me not to go over there right now and fight him. I could feel Kurama inside of me rumbling also. What Sasuke did was not necessary, especially raising his hand like that to someone as gentle and kind as Hinata. She was simply apologizing, it was a normal Hinata thing to do.

I blinked confusedly to myself, 'Since when did i know that?.' I wondered.

"The enemy..." Sasuke said, materializing before her with a kunai against her throat, "...would have killed you by now."

Hinata absorbed his words without a care for what he had done and leapt away from him. I was shocked. She should be furious.

"Come at me." I heard her say.

There was a build up of chakra around her and i saw two lions appear on her fists. Seeing that had me thinking back to when she defended me against Pein. I don't remember much after being consumed by my anger, but I do recall her telling me she loved me. My stomach twisted again. A girl who I thought to be weird as we were growing up, told me out of many that she loved me and I knew she spoke the truth.

"Juuho Soushiken." She said, rushing at him.

"Still using the same techniques." I heard Sasuke growl, "Don't waste my time." He activated his Sharingan.

"Chidori Nagashi." I watched as Hinata skidded to a stop and tried to make a run for someplace safe, perhaps somewhere high I thought, but she was unlucky as the lightning Sasuke produced came at her from every direction, including beneath the ground. When I heard her cries, I had every intention of going down there to help her, but something stopped me. She looked like she did that day Pein wounded her severely. I shivered remembering how she went as far as crawling to try and help me.

Hinata stood on wobbly legs, "C-come..." She heavily panted, holding her bleeding right arm.

I looked at the teme, he was grinning from ear to ear. 'Bastard.' I angrilly thought. 'Don't do it Sasuke.'

Sasuke gave her a sickening smirk, "Show me something new, Hyuuga." He said as he performed a few hand signs, "Housenka no Jutsu."

I clenched my fists, his movements and attacks were so fast. I feared Hinata wouldn't be able to dodge or handle this attack of his. I'd had enough, I was going to jump in there and help her, especially once i noticed the shuriken hidden behind those devious flames. That Sasuke knew no bounds. I was only seconds away from giving away my position, when suddenly Hinata stopped moving. My heart sunk.

'Don't stop. Why did you stop?.' I thought, panicking.

"Shugo Hakke Rokujuuyonshou." She whispered with closed eyes.

My eyes widened. I knew this technique of hers. If my memory served right, she used that technique once when we were only genin. I calmed myself, I needed to believe in her.

'You got this Hinata.' I thought, clenching and unclenching my fists.

Sasuke seemed pleased, almost impressed, but that still didn't stop him from upping the anti. He sent more fireballs her way, and Hinata, ever the poised girl she was, summoned more chakra. As I watched, Hinata began to emit chakra from her palms and move her arms in a sweeping motion, it seemed to provide not only protection to her body, but was able to cut through Sasuke's blazing shuriken. I wanted to smack myself for doubting her. This battle of stamina continued for about a good five and a half minutes before I noticed Hinata growing tired.

"That all you got, Hyuuga?." Sasuke snarled.

'Asshole.' I thought bewildered.

Hinata had no comeback, in fact, I could see her right arm shaking. Her previous injury from Sasuke's Chidori seemed to finally take it's toll. I'd hoped Sasuke had maybe realised it and taken it down a notch, but the teme only added more power to his attack. For the second time this day my heart sunk. Hinata fell onto her stomach, unconscious and unaware that Sasuke's parade of flames were only seconds away from hurting her. No, killing her.

'Hinata.' I thought, exploding into Sage Mode.

My transformation wasn't necessary however.

Sasuke beat me to the punch. He had grabbed Hinata before I could even blink. I watched angrilly as he lowered her to the ground, I wanted to pulverise him. Hinata didn't deserve this type of training at all, she was delicate and deserved to be treated alot better than that. Maybe I could persuade her to train with me. I released Sage Mode with a sigh, she was going to be ok.

"Hyuuga." I heard him whisper. I've never heard him use that tone before.

Hinata stirred, but did not wake. She was unconscious when she mumbled, "S-sasuke..."

Sasuke placed her head on his lap, "You did good." He said.

I could see the trust the two shared, it looked and seemed more deeper than whatever it was he and I had. I was taken back, this was definately not a side of Sasuke that i'd ever seen before. At that instant, as if he'd heard me, his eyes locked with mine. We just stared at eachother. I wondered if he'd say something too me, maybe ask why i was there. But he didn't, he simply glared at me and stood with Hinata in his arms bridal style. I didn't understand what it all mean't, only that the vibe i felt coming from Sasuke mean't to stay away.

'What is she to you?.' I thought.

"Naruto! Oi, Naruto!."

End of Flashback

Present Day

"Naruto! Oi, Naruto!." Shikamaru said, pinching the blonde Hokage's cheeks.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow.." Naruto whined, snapping out of his day-dream, "Shikamaru!."

Shikamaru shook his head, "You were mumbling her name."

Naruto slapped his forehead hard. Normally the only thing he'd think about would be Sakura, but lately, things were starting to change. Not that he didn't welcome it, but the slow change in his heart was starting to frighten him. He loved Sakura, everyone knew that, so then why was his mind beginning to open up to someone new?. Is this what Sasuke was referring too that day Hinata and Sakura squared off, before they went to Mount Myoboku, how Naruto had somehow lost his chance with her.

"Did you hear what I said?." Shikamaru asked.

Naruto was about to retort when an unannounced Sai materialized in front of them, "Hey." He greeted politely.

Naruto wished Sai could act normal sometimes. During the war Sai had many different expressions on his face, but now during the peace, his fake smiles were coming off as quite creepy. Naruto saw blood, his eyes immediately narrowed in on Sai's neck, "What happened?."

"Just a simple routine check." He replied, smile never wavering.

"How troublesome." Shikamaru murmured.

"Sai." Naruto pressed.

"I made the mistake of staring at Hinata-sama."

"Hinata." Naruto whispered. 'Was I always this slow? Of course they're together, after what he's done for Hinata it's no secret.' He thought, every action, move, touch, look, everything that Sasuke did with and around her, suddenly fell into place in his mind.

"Hai, she was with him when I went to do a check up." Sai said.

"Sasuke isn't one to toy with when she's with him." Shikamaru voiced, "Right, Naruto?."

Confused within himself, Naruto didn't know how to answer him. 'That's right, she's with him.'
