Chapter 42
I wake up in a room with white walls. I hear beeping and blink a couple times before my eyes focus. Tris is sitting on the edge of the bed I'm in and has tears running down her face.
"Tris." I try to say, but it only comes out as a whisper.
"Shhh." She says hugging me.
When she pulls away I look around the room again. I then realize that I am in a hospital.
"Why am I here?" I say trying to sit up. She pushes me back down.
"Well when Evelyn told you that your dad is getting out of jail in a month, you fainted. We waited for you to wake up, but you never did."
"How long have I been out?" I find the remote on the tv and press the guide. It's 12:00.
"A day." She says when she sees the confused look on my face.
I've been out for a whole day?
"Where is everyone else?" I see their stuff, but they aren't in the room.
"Zeke, Uriah, and Christina are all getting food. I wanted to stay here just in case you woke up. As for your mom, she left about 10 minutes after you blacked out. She had a flight to catch apparently."
I roll my eyes. That is just like my mom.
"How long has he been awake?" The doctor asks Tris when he comes in.
"For about five minutes now Dr. Howard." She says standing up.
"How are you feeling Tobias?"
"I've been better." Right after I say that I feel a sharp pain in my arm. I grab it with my hand and it stings like crazy. I cry out in pain.
"Yeah you might not wanna do that." Dr. Howard says looking at his clipboard.
"Can you just tell me what's wrong with me?" I say frustrated.
"Well Tris here told me about how you cut your arm and how you refused to get treatment for it. Since you waited so long and it got re-opened at the game Friday night, it got infected."
"How badly infected doc?" I say getting scared.
He takes a deep breath "You have Sepsis."
"What the hell is that?" I say looking from the doctor to Tris. She has started crying again.
"It's blood poisoning. And if we don't treat it as soon as possible, then it will spread and you could die. It's a miracle it hasn't spread already to be honest."
"So what am I on antibiotics or something?"
"Ye-" He starts to say.
"Hey he's awake!" Zeke screams while walking in with Uriah and Christina behind him. "We thought you were in a coma!"
"Oh doc, did you find out what's wrong with him yet?" Christina says walking over and sitting down next to Tris. She has pulled herself together by this point so they can't tell that she has been crying.
"Yes I did. I told Tris earlier, but Tobias has Sepsis."
"What the hell is that?" Zeke and Uriah say at the same time.
"It's blood poisoning." Dr. Howard says blankly.
"Oh shit." They both say again.
I know ya'll hate me right now but hey, two updates within a couple hours! I'm writing the next chapter as you're reading this so I will update really soon. I have decided to stop this story on Chapter 46. Hehehe get it? 46? Anyways review and tell me how much you hate me, that's fine.
