Chapter 10: all good things

Yuki watched his reflection in the mirror as he stepped from the bath. He shook out his long hair and watched as his mirror image did the same. He hated his body, locked somewhere in the void between male and female. Technically, he was more female, but his mind had remained masculine, so he'd continued with the old persona. He watched the steam hover up from his body and took a deep breath. The noise that suddenly struck him shattered his peace, a crash from back in another room. Musubi smashed through the door, unconscious and leaking blood from a blade wound. Yuki bolted out the shattered door and saw, of all people, Karasuba standing in front of Minato. Yuki could feel her angst from where he stood. Minato looked at Yuki, his face stone cold, mouthing, "run". Yuki didn't, instead, he called upon his sword and slashed out, cutting her shihakusho and creating sparks as she blocked his weapon. Minato fell to his knees and looked up at his naked Sekirei, only then noticing something about him. That place was completely flat. Yuki was actually a girl.

Karasuba stepped forward and Yuki flashed behind her, his, or her, blade finding a spot in the small of her back. The blade barely touched her. Karasuba turned and retaliated. The pair of blade-type Sekirei traded blows for what seemed like and eternity… in actual fact, however, the fight was not very long, a minute at most…

Two blocks away, Tsukiumi and Kazehana were faced with a similar problem, Haihane and Benitsubasa were both holding them back. This was a real problem for them, because they had a feeling that Minato and the others were in trouble.

Back at Maizon Izumo, the fight between number 04 and number 19 raged on, trading swipes and blocks. Yuki's immense speed and Karasuba's pure skill were keeping each other a bay perfectly. Yuki decided to change tact, exchanging his light style for a single attack. "Blade of my contract, slice through the everlasting darkness and revel in the light of my ashikabi's heart!" he disappeared. When he reappeared, Minato saw something which made his heart rise slightly. The blade which sat in Yuki's hand was piercing Karasuba's chest, right through her heart. Minato's eyes widened and he went to see his Sekirei when he saw something which made that slight feeling of relief vanish to be replaced by emptiness. Karasuba fell to the ground, her blood coating the floorboards and her Sekirei crest vanishing. Her blade remained in the air, it's tip buried deep in Yuki's throat. He breathed out once, and spoke three words, "Thanks, Minato. I…" he fell down, onto the hilt of her sword, impaling it further into his neck, slicing through him like he was made of rice paper. He breathed four words, "Miya will kill me…" and his eyes closed. A deep purple light glowed within his back and Minato watched on in horrified silence as his newest Sekirei died in front of him.

I guess, all good things must come to an end eventually.

Tsukiumi and Kazehana arrived too little too late, they saw Minato collapse beside Yuki and Karasuba, both of whom they assumed were killed. They stumbled up to him and dragged him into a tight embrace, together, as a group of three. A fourth person grabbed Minato's shoulder. He looked up and a tall man with crimson eyes and hair looked back. He grinned, "Hello again, ashikabi kun"

The End of the Final Sekirei

I would have liked to continue, but I'm just not motivated any more… I loved writing it though!

Just a few afterthoughts;

Yuki's real name is spelled Yuuki, but my computer didn't like it.

The name means 'courage', where Yuki means 'snow'

And, more importantly, if you liked Yuki, I'll just say one thing. I couldn't bring myself to kill him. It was hard enough to kill everyone earlier, just in an illusion. That's just about all the loose ends tied up. Until next time,
