Sorry I have not updated in so long, My only excuse is life happen (school, work, personal, lack of time...)
The next few weeks flew by in blink of an eye. During this time Gon told her all about what he had seen during the last two-year, by the time had finish the Hunter exam was upon him.
"Ok, Gon remember for the hunter's exam is being held in Zaban City so you need to take the ship headed for Dolle Harbor" his aunt Mito reminded him.
"Ok Aunt Mito and thank you for letting me stay here" he told her with a heavy heart he leaving and promising to take the ship.
"No Gon it was my pleasure having you around, you should come by more often, this is your home to" she told him as he was leaving, Although she could not see it Gon's eyes watered up, his had never had place to where he return to, living his father meant they were always on the move, so this was whole new concept for Gon.
"Thank you aunt Mito, and Will" he said as he sped he way quick as lighting.
All that Mito could see was him disappearing almost three yards away from her then she whispered "Be safe."
A few moments later he arrived in town making his way to the port.
It didn't take long to take long to find the ship, as there was much talk among the would-be Hunters about the upcoming exam and how they would be become hunters.
Gon boarded the ship without any problem; he wasn't really caring about the rest of the people abroad the ship, he gaze toward his aunt's house.
When the time came and the ship finally departed for its destination, Gon watched as the island moved furthered away from him.
Then a voice broke Gon out of his trance as it say "hey kid better give up now" Gon turn his head in the direction of the voice, the one speaking was a middle-age man with a rather unruly look to him, his stared at the rest of the men "this is only a tenth of the people from all around the world who want to become hunter" he continued.
Gon ignored the man and continued to watch fading image of Whale Island disappear over the horizon.
Night soon set in which a clamor of rain and lighting causing the seas to rock the ship back and forth. This caused most of the men on the ship to get men on the ship to get sea-sick, Gon was helping those men to calm their sickness allowing them to sleep if only the night.
The storm broke at dawn, Gon decided to pass the time by fishing, then around noon the seagulls chirping caught his attention.
At the same the time captain of the ship was making his rounds "and you want to hunters, when can't a little choppy water, sorriest excuses for hunters I've ever seen" the captain hollered.
The captain then notices Gon looking at the Seagulls. The boy had caught his tension mostly because unlike the others he seemed too made of sterner stuff. "What you looking at boy" the captain asked "There's big storm coming much big then one before" the captain look at the as if trying to figure out puzzle.
"You can understand those birds are saying" Gon shook his head "Not completely but there a lot salt in the air, it's going too be a huge storm" the captain looked at Gon but image of Ging replaced him 'so his your son.'
"How long till the storm hits" the captain asked "I'll say about two hours" Gon responded.
The captain then started to shout orders "There a storm coming everyone on the ship is now under my command, you will do as you're told."
"What, I'm too sick to do anything" one of men complained "Get off" the captain say "what?" the men ask "get off my ship" the captain order, then two other men appeared next the men and threw him over board, Leaving the men to his fate.
The rest of the passenger followed the order without protests, then just as Gon predicted the storm hit.
Gon was having fun walking on top of a barrel that was rolling from side to side as the ship swayed.
The captain enter room an ask "You three tell me your names?' motioning towards Gon and two others; the eldest of which was in his twenties, black hair, wearing a blue business suit, blue pants and carried a suitcase, while the younger one was in mid teens with blonde hair wearing a blue tabard decorated with an orange-colored hem and a white full-body training suit underneath.
"Leorio" The eldest spoke first in cocky manner.
"Kurapika" said the blonde indifferently.
"Gon" stating his cheerful.
"What are your reasons want to become hunters?" the Captain asked.
"Look old man we not have answer to you" said Leorio.
"I'm looking for my father he is a hunter; he told me if I found him I would be a true hunter" Gon state true fully.
"Hey, who told you answer him, you have no sense of team…" Leorio told Gon but was cut by Kurapika.
"I have to agree with this guy" referring to Leorio, who was speaking but was totally ignored "I would prefer not answer you, while I would make up a plausible lie, I consider the act of lying far more shameful than being greedy" still ignoring Leorio him "plus the my reason for wanting to be a hunter are very personal and something I don't wish to share with people whom I just met, as such I cannot share my reasons for wanting to become a hunter."
The captain face darkened for just a second then the spoke "you still don't understand, do you, the Hunter exam has already begun, it started the minute you set foot on my ship" the captain let his words sink in before continuing.
"There are as many people who want become Hunter's as there is star in the sky, do you think there is enough space, time and people to judge everyone" he paused for a second "No, so people like me are used to cut the number down, right now you three are the only ones how still is exam everyone else has been marked as failure for the grand jury, so even if they get to where the exams are being held they be turned away, the choice as to whether you take the test is up to me, so whether you thrust me or not is irrelevant you have to answer my question" he stated coldly.
There was a long pregnant pause before Kurapika decided to answer.
"I am the only survivor of the Kurta Clan" he paused to gather himself "four years ago, all of my clans' men were killed by thieves," paused again "the reason I want to become a hunter is to capture those beast who murdered my clan in cold blood, The Phantom Brigade" he clenched his fists.
Gon continued to stare I little more interested, he had heard of the Phantom Brigade, they were tough so much so that his father told not go at them, unless someone like Kite or himself was there to back him back him up but that was a few years ago so didn't know how much stronger he now.
"So you want to become become a black list? You know most A class hunters would think twice before helping you; you're chasing your own death" the captain said.
"I don't fear death; the only thing I fear is that my rage will fade over time." Kurapika said with hint of anger.
"So you just want vengeance and you need to become a hunter to do that?" asked Leorio
"You're even dumber than you look" Kurapika stated stolidly "Hunters have accesses to places, information and resources, that I wouldn't be able to accesses otherwise, that much should be obvious" he shot insults at Leorio who was now fuming in anger.
The captain asked "so what your reason for wanting to become a Hunter" pointing at Leorio, who calmed down relatively quickly before speaking
"I don't have a self-righteous reason for wanting to become a Hunter, I'm doing it for the money, money run the world, if you have enough and there's nothing you can't get anything" he said greedily, Gon could tell what he wasn't necessarily wrong but there was something more but dismissed it for now.
Leorio was about to said something else but was cut off by Kurapika who said "it's too bad you can't buy class with money"
Leorio's blood chilly as the vines on his forehead formed a tick mark "that three times now" he said to Kurapika "lets step outside, you won't need to worry about your vengeance because I'll put an end to filthy Kurta blood once and for all" Kurapika's mood now mirrored Leorio's own, as they calmly walked down the hallway and existed the doors.
"Hey I'm not done the yet…" tried to stop them but was cut off by Gon who said "let them fight obviously they feel this is important to them if they willing to fight about it" the captain just looked Gon for second before his attention drawn away
The source of new found interest was a waterspout that formed directly in front of the ship and threatened to sink the ship as is joined the heavens and ocean in lager string of water.
The captain quickly assessed the situation than order the sails be brought down and took control of helm.
On the deck of the ship both Leorio and Kurapika stood steady as stones as they size each other up, Kurapika's tabard violently swayed in wind while Leorio's blue suit blew up at the chest exposing much of the white shirt underneath
Wave's broke on the deck on flooding it and completely consuming both but as the water receded showing they were not affected by the water what so every
"I'm going to give you one changes, Leorio, take it back and I'll forgive you" Kurapika said drawing two bokken swords from under his tabard.
"No I don't think I will, I told you to show me some respect, so I'm not backing down" he said taking out a knife
Another wave broke on deck swallowing them whole. When the water receded Leorio knife was being blocked by Kurapika's sword in an 'x' formation.
They quickly backed away from each, only for Leorio to rush back to Kurapika with horizontal slash.
Kurapika quickly blocked the strike with his wooden sword, thrusting the other sword directly at Leorio's chest.
Leorio however managed to block the strike by using he's briefcase as a makeshift shield.
Meanwhile the others were pulling the sails one of the men stumbled a bit and was picking himself up but a blast of wind hit the deck, and the man thrown across the deck basting between Leorio and Kurapika.
Both were able to react just in time to catch the man as he want over the edge, then started to get pulled over as well but were stopped by Gon pulling them back aboard the ship.
The sails were lowered in time for the captain to steer the ship to safety.
The storm blew over in a couple of hours later showing the beautiful blue sky take had been hidden in the darkness of the storm, the sun seem to shine ever more brightly on this occasion, almost if the sun its self was happy they have averted a loss of life
The three of them, Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio, stood next to the rail of the ship and reflexed on what had just happened.
"So who won the fight" Gon asked them genuinely curious.
"That right we were fighting but I can't remember why it was it was so important, but anyway Kurapika I'm sorry about what I said about your clan, I was out line" Leorio apologized.
"No, I'm sorry I shouldn't have been so rude in the first place" said Kurapika
The man whom they had saved came over and thanked Kurapika and Leorio for saving him, they both said Gon was also to thank for his rescue, he quickly thanked Gon before going back to work.
The captain then walked over to them, when stopped he spoke "well you three have qualified this part of the Exam so I'll make sure get you three the next part in one piece" in merry tone.
The three of them looked in high sprite for they just smiled at the captains words them broke in to laughter.
