Chapter 7

"Honey you're my golden star"

The door crecked open as the pack started to pool into Derek loft. I watched from the balcony as they awkwardly made there way to the couch and previous set chairs. A calm hand touched the small of my back.

"You can stay out here if you want. I won't force you to sit through this." I nodded then took his hand in mine and walked through the door.

A unified gasp came from the room as the only noise came from my own feet . I took my seat with Derek seated right beside me our intertwined hands placed on his lap.

The silence lasted for a fraction of a second before everyone started talking at once. It was impossible to hear anyone's individual comments.

I looked to Derek waiting on him to do something as it started to get a bit out of control. A small squeeze was his response before he stood releasing my hand.

"Calm down and sit down Now." His voice was met with complete silence as they sat and blinked at his stern tone.

"I know you all are quite upset as am I . I called you guys here to discuss a turn of action. This is there second time over stepping there bounds and I won't stand for it. " he took a deep breath before continuing. But Lydia beat him to the punch.

"This is obviously a ploy to get to you Derek. The only person they are attacking is Stiles. Is there something your not telling us? Because there is no evident reason for them to have a problem with us let alone Stiles. "

Everyone flinched at her striking observation. I looked up my eyes locking with Erickas' before I nodded and she began to speak.

"Lydias right . The twins said that they knew what you were hiding and that they wouldn't stop until they got what they'd came for. "

All eyes fell to me as I nodded again to confirm what she'd said.

A frustrated growl came from my Alpha before he turned and headed toward the stairs.

Once he was out of sight I was submerged by worried face and apologies.

"I'm fine. None of you knew anything like this was going to happen so stop beating yourselves up about it."

Isaac placed his hand on my shoulder successfully drawing my attention from my hands.

"But we should have know your pack. We shouldn't have ignored the signs and been there to protect you." They all nodded in agreement.

Shuffling was heard from the stairs before Derek actually appeared. He was carring a small box as if it would explode if he shifted his weight the wrong way.

"What is it? " Allyson spoke for all of us.

The top was removed and gently placed on the table to reveal a remarkable amulet.

"It's a weapon as old as time itself . It can give the person all the power in the world. No one knows for sure the specifics because everyone's to scared to try. It's been in my family since the last World War. "

A thick layer of of confusion settled in as I picked the amulet from its box and lifted it for closer examination.

The timeless gloss of the gem twinkled in the light with the surrounding beads of diamonds reflected tiny rainbows

"I'd heard a story about this a long time ago. It belonged to a beautiful queen of great power. She was a born leader and lead her nation to countless victories. Her family was suspected to surround themselves with yeenadlooshi and resulted in many nations being simply afraid to be in her presence. Kings and Queens banned together to rid the world of her dominance and took war on her country . In the heat of battle the Queen knew she would fall so she bestowed her amulet to her closest guard and suspected lover . He was given strict orders to keep it hidden from the world or the world would come to its end. Queen Trine died protecting her country who after her death fell into poverty and never recovered."

I looked up to the astonished faces of the pack . I placed the amulet back into its box turning to Derek before speaking once more.

"Go and hide this in a place where no one will ever find it. Take Scott and Isaac and promise you'll be careful. "

He slapped on a bewildered expression shaking his head over and over again.

"What are you talking about. I'm not- I don't understand. " He took my face into both of his hands. "I'm not leaving you here. "

I learned into one of his hand bringing mine to remove them from my face .

"I already know the end to this story. Everything will be fine but you have to trust me. "

He looked deep into my eyes before turning and addressing the pack once more.

"Scott and Isaac pack your bags we have a tuff journey ahead of us. Erica , Boyd and Jackson you all are responsible for the protection of Beacon Hills in my absence. Allyson and Lydia you two promise me you'll stay with him . " they each nodded .

"Report back here in one hour."

Everyone piled out of the loft just as swiftly as they'd came leaving me and Derek alone.

Once the door was shut Derek was gone. I took a deep breath turning to the stairs where I know he was taking refuge.

I took the steps two at a time determined to spend the next hour together. The second floor held a bathroom two bedrooms.

Opening the first door I found him on the floor with a bag open and clothes sprawled all over the place.

I didn't say a word as I crossed the distance, kneeled to the ground placing his head to my chest.

He clung to me as I ran my fingers threw his hair.

"I assume you know the ending to this tale as well. " He allowed a small whimper to escape his lips as my response.

"If I'd known I wouldn't have allowed this to happen" he bit out as he tried to choke back his tears.

"Neither of us knew . I'd suspected this was the case but I was unsure until I saw the amulet. Mh mother already told me the dangers of my first love . "

"Why didn't you tell the pack the truth . They'll have to know eventually. "

"And I'll deal with that when the time comes but until then I don't want to put them into more danger than there already in. "

"Are you prepared for this ? " he pulled away too search my face once more.

"I've had all my life to regain the honor of my people. If this isn't done right my people will be lost forever and I wouldn't be able to live with the burden of letting my mother down. " I stroked his check gently. "I'll be fine . Just promise me one thing."

"Anything."

"Don't forget about me. " my voice broke on the last word giving way to my emotions.

"Never. "

A small piece of metal wormed it's way into my hand. I opened it to find a key with my name on it. I looked up to see Derek blushing and staring down at his shoes.

"I'd been meaning to give it to you for a while now. Um.. it's for when ever you need somewhere to go or if you just wanna talk.."

I felt a big smile stretch across my face . I closed the space between us.

"Come here " I planted my lips to his pushing him back to sit on the bed. I straddled his hips and deepened the kiss.

A small knock came to door breaking our kiss. I turned to sit in a less suggestive position but didn't remove myself from his lap.

Boyd pocked his head through the door when Derek told him to come in.

"Um we're all suited and ready to take action. "

"Very well. We'll be down ." Boyd nodded and closed the door once more.

I snicker before I moved to stand. His arms tightened around my waist stopping my attempt.

"I said we'd be down I never specified when " he placed a kiss on my unturned lips . We both the sound of discuss come from the werewolves below.

I chuckled before finally standing up pulling him up with me. He sported a pout the whole way down the stairs before I caved and turned to give him a peck .

"Okay " he said with a satisfied smile " We should be back in three days tops . " He tossed Scott his keys . "You guys can load your stuff into the car."

Isaac turned with a faint smile "I'll see you later buddy " he ruffled the hair on my head before pulling me into a sidehug.

Scott turned and nodded before they slipped out the door.

I rolled my eyes before turning to Derek . In the corner of my eye I saw Allyson run after them and the rest of the pack distanceing themselves from us.

I turned to meet his eyes unprepared to see what I found. His eyes were filled with a deep unmistakable sorrow.

"I'll be right here waiting when you come back . I promise." He pulled me in to sniff my neck .

"I'm fine. We're fine ." I stated

"Sure? "

"Sure."

He pulled me in and kissed me until I saw stars. I stumbled when he finally released me and small his smile before walking him to the door.

"I'm fine. I just went to get a pack of cigarettes." I rolled my eyes while placing one to my lips. Her and Allyson had been shadowing me for the past two days and with Derek still not confirming he was on his way back I needed a smoke damn it !

"When did you start smoking!" She nearly blew my head of with her constant yelling.

"Since Scott became a werewolf. It's a great way to relieve stress. " I slammed the door closed as I began to walk towards the loft. I took a drag before continuing to talk. "You should try it sometime Lyd. Maybe you won't be so up tight. "

"Ill show you up tight! You better hurry up and get back to this apartment. "

"Calm down I'm downstairs ." I looked up and waved to her on the balcony before hanging up the phone.

I heard a deep chuckle before turning to see the alpha pack in full force.

"Wouldn't have pegged you for the smoking type Mr. Stalinski . " there leader barked.

"Yeah no one ever does. What's it today gonna ruffle my feathers again ? Huh ? "

They all chuckled before he spoke again . "We were rather thinking of plucking them this time. " He grinned at the twins as they crept towards me.

"Woah there big guys" they punched me in the face . " We gotta stop meeting like this " I said after spitting some blood out of my mouth.

"You're a funny one. We'll have fun with you. "

They threw me to the other meat head and everything turned to darkness.
