UPDATE: My thoughts over the past few months:

Hey so school is over… we should really update… but…. I've got months to do that.

A few months later…

So I'm studying abroad…and I'm gonna go soon… I should really update…Oh! It's a really long flight I'll type up the next chapter on the plane.

The plane ride

the battery life is only 1 hour! Ok I'll do it during class like I did before.

During class.

Ooo! Manga!

So I'm sure you guys didn't know that I left my home country and came back… that was quite a while ago… and so I got to my fanfic yesterday and thought…. "where am I going with this?"

Needless to say, I am lost. I'm reading all the novels and everything so I'm afraid it's gonna change my direction… but pretty much everything is kinda at a point where I can update just a little. I need to go through everything again to get back into it. Sorry well… here's a chapter (and no joke I had to look at what I had previously uploaded to see what I needed to upload….it's been too long for me too).

Btw: my last footnote was dead on!

I was afraid Gourry wasn't going to be there in the morning. I hate to admit it but I had grown slightly attached to the big guy. I mean sure, I started this journey alone, but I didn't want to end it alone. I got ready and sat down to eat. I wasn't hungry so I just got a drink and sat there waiting.

Gourry eventually came down. He was walking faster than he was yesterday, which was hopefully a sign that he was in a better mood. He saw me and joined me at the table.

"You're up early," he told me in his usual manner.

I was releaved, "Well, I did sleep a lot yesterday."

"Oh yeah, how are you feeling? Better?"

I nodded, "And you, how—"

He cut me off. I'm not sure if on purpose or not. "Let's go to Seyruun."

That caught me off guard. "Why?"

"I know someone there," he bluntly stated.

"Is that the only reason?"

"Sure."

That was weird… but at least he was acting more normal than yesterday and I was afraid to lose this so I went with it. "Sure, why not?"

It's about a 2 weeks walk to Seyruun. We stocked up on some supplies and we started on our way. I wasn't sure for the first few days how to bring up what had happened. I wanted to but it was so awkward. The worst part was I didn't understand why he didn't ask me anything. Did he know my response would not be satisfying? Maybe he thought I didn't know I could do that. I mean I knew I could do that, I just didn't know how.

"So…" subtle, "Who's your friend in Seyruun?"

"Oh, it's more than one," he responded and kept walking.

"Seriously?! Is that all you are going to tell me?! You're acting awfully cryptic you know!"

He stopped. "I'm sorry. I have a good friend name Sylphiel there. She's a healer."

"Oh, what do you need a healer for?"

"Well, that thing you did a few days ago… you healed my arm."

"Yeah…" Wow… I was so nervous.

"Well, maybe she'd know something about that, what you did."

I lightened up. "You mean we're going there specifically for me?"

"Of course."

"You should have told me sooner!" I didn't know what else to say. Here he was looking for his friend and deeply upset about losing her yet deviating his path for me. I looked him in the eyes, "And your friend…?"

"Oh she's a real good cook and a very talented healer. I'm sure you'll like her."

Wow, I was touched but now I wanted to smack him for that one.

"No, I meant the other one… Lina?"

He had already started his walk but stopped. "Oh… well…. Like I said I don't know where she is. She could be there."

"And she wouldn't write to tell you?"

"Well, I have been wandering around with no definite address to send anything to. For all I know she has been trying to reach me and I just haven't found. If that's the case she is probably really mad at me." He winced and rubbed his head as he spoke.

"Um…ok… so this whole journeying thing has been a waste?"

"I wouldn't say that."

"Why not?"

"Well, I got to meet you, right?"

I blushed harder than I thought possible and stayed silent as we continued. I was blushing too hard to question the inconsistencies in what he had just told me but I guess if we were going to see this healer friend it would be worth it in the end.

It was a surprisingly uneventful trip to Seyruun. We ran into a few more bandit troops but that was to be expected. Gourry and I had gotten our rhythm down so no one could shake us. When we'd camp out we'd practice sparring a bit more. I might have been getting better. But I really couldn't tell… Gourry was just too good.

At one stop Gourry sent a courier to send a letter to Sylphiel.

"Think it will arrive before we do?" I asked him right after.

"It should. It's going by horse after all."

"And why don't we?"

"And miss out on all the fun? Wait… can you ride a horse Ella?"

"Hey I am a farm girl!" I blurted out a little too soon. Could I? He was looking at me for a definite answer. "I don't remember… So…. What was in the letter anyways?"

"Just telling her we are on our way."

"We? So… she'll expect me? She doesn't even know me!"

"Don't worry, she's nice. I just don't want to drop by her place unannounced," he said slightly nervously. He was hiding something I knew it.

"Is that all?" I knew how skeptical I was being but could you blame me?

"Yeah."

I guess that was the end of that conversation.

A few days later we could see the outer border of Seyruun.

"Wow… this is a big city." I observed. I am just a farm girl after all. I never got such views.

"Yup…" Gourry chimed in.

"I've seen such a big city before."

"A bit overwhelming?"

"Yeah," I was still in awe, "and you're sure your friend here can figure out this… whatever this is…"

"Yeah, and if not Seyruun is the white magic capital of the world, at least that's what I've heard. So I'm sure someone else can help us if she can't."

I felt like I was taking a giant step coming here. I followed Gourry as we made our way to the gates.

So, next chapter we will meet more people! In fact I think it is up to the next chapter that I am ok with. But... after not updating for like 8 months I don't know how long it will take me especially if I am going to go through things again. Sorry, but yay finally an update. I hope it was not disappointing.
