Epilogue
It was time.
Kelly and Alyssa had been at the hospital since seven that morning...and there had been one delay when an emergency surgery came up.
Dr. Leary had come in and explained the procedure to them again. He asked if they had any questions. Neither of them did. They were both just anxious for it to be over.
But now they'd come to get her and take her up to the OR.

He walked alongside the bed as the transporter pushed it from the elevator, never letting go of his wife's hand.
"It's gonna be okay, Baby..." he told her. "I'll see you in a little while. I'll be right there when you wake up."
Lyssa smiled.
She knew he was trying to be strong for her...and she loved him for it.
"I know..." she said.

The transporter stopped outside the double doors.
"This is as far as you can go, Sir." he said.
Kelly leaned down and kissed Alyssa gently.
"You're gonna do great." he said. "I love you...I'll see you soon, okay?"
She nodded.
"See you soon..." she replied. "I love you..."
He reluctantly let go of Lyssa's hand, and took a step back.

The transporter hit the switch plate on the wall and the double doors swung open.
Kelly watched as another person dressed in scrubs pulled Alyssa's bed inside and then she began pushing it down the hall as the doors closed behind them.
He took another step closer and watched through the glass as they took his wife into the operating room.
