Each horse, colt, and filly relaxed under the warm sun. It had been a few months since Wisdom and Freedom joined the herd, and everything was seemingly normal. Luckily for the horses, they had nothing to do. There was plenty of grass around, a body of water glimmered in the light, and the cool breeze was enough to put anyone to sleep. Wisdom was curled by her brother's side, where she felt safe. She sometimes had trouble with that, saying she was young and small. At least when she had her brother there she was secure. The silence was suddenly broken by the crack of a whip, and whistles in the distance. Every horse's head shot up as they saw a herd of horses galloping toward them. These weren't every day horses either, they had weird things on their backs, and straps running over their faces. They also had weird creatures on them. Spirit wasn't quite sure what it was, but he wasn't going to wait around to find out.

"Everyone Run!" He screeched as Rain took off, the horses trailing behind her. Spirit took the rear as they continued to run.

"Freedom! Do you think its-" she began to yell, until she was cut off.

"I think so! Its Dad" He said as they ran. It might be their father, but they were not his children any more. They were horses, and needed to run for their lives. The herd ran, the foals in the middle. Thinking they were getting away, Freedom let out a sigh. He hoped they were almost done running. It was a mistake to think that, because he let his guard down. Before he knew it, he was eating dirt from tripping on a rock. The herd continued to run, but wisdom went to turn around.

"Freedom!" She yelled as she went to turn around.

"Spirit has him! It's okay, keep running" Rain told her as she herded her back to the center.

"Wisdom!" Freedom yelled as the people put ropes over his head. Yet no one could hear him.

Spirit ran and lashed out on the horses, but he stood no chance. They had the foal and ran.

He returned to the herd and told the bad news. Wisdom couldn't believe her ears.

"Freedom!" she screamed in a skin crawling, blood chilling manner. It was an agonizing scream, that was repeated over and over.

"Freedom! Come Back!" she yelled as she bucked and reared.

"NO!" She screamed one, last, agonizing time. She then collapsed onto the grass, tears on her face. No one could comfort her, and sure, they tried. Rain, Spirit, and both foals tried to make her feel better, but she payed no mind to them. It was soon night, and Wisdom remained in the same place. She stared up at the sky, wondering how this could happen. Soon she was nudged by a horse, it was Swift. He lied down by her.

"I know I can't bring you comfort in this time, but I might have an idea" He said

"And what would that be" she whimpered

"Lets go save him." Swift proposed.

Wisdom lied there in a bit of shock. Was it a good idea? She questioned the proposal, but it didn't take much for her to convince herself

"Im in" She agreed as she got up. Swift was a month older than all of them, and could surly keep them both safe, but he was not nearly a grown horse.

They walked over to Prairie, and told her of their plan.

"I will come" She said

"No, you will not. It's too dangerous for all of us. Tell your mother, my mother, Spirit, and Rain. Let them know that we know what we are doing" Swift commanded

"But-" Prairie protested

"No. Be safe" He said as he nudged Wisdom.

The two of them began to trot, but it didn't take long for them to plunge into the darkness of night. Only guided by the stars.
