What If?

What if Jenna never survived the journey home?

Jenna Hamilton was found almost three weeks after she last stepped out of her front door. Wrong , Jenna Hamilton was found 15 days , 19 hours , and 47 minutes after she left her home for the last time.

The Hoped For Her To Return

Two days after Jenna Hamilton went missing her mother pleaded with the school to have an assembly asking if they could give any information about whether or not they knew where Jenna was. They thought that she could have told a friend possibly where she was going. Her close friends said that they hadn't heard from her . Police officers questioned every student that they could. No one knew anything , no one but Collin Jennings who told the police that the last time he saw her was when she left a party they were at to get food from someplace. That she was only going to be gone for ten minutes , then those ten minutes turned into an hour and then Collin said that he thought that she just went home or crashed on a bench somewhere. The furthest lead that they had was seeing her in a convenience store getting a soda and chips. Then she walked away in the opposite direction from where the party was being held. The last camera that caught her on camera was one at a bus station... she was taking a bus home , the bus was on route to a stop 3 minutes away from her house. They deducted that she must have gotten off at another stop by accident. A residential stop without cameras.

People visited the Hamilton house for the first week every day , giving the family their prayers though none of it made Lacey and Kevin Hamilton feel better. They just wanted their little girl to be back in their arms. They wanted to just hold her for one more time , and the more the days ticked off the more they came to reality that their daughter may never be in their arms. On the 13th day since Jenna was last seen the school decided to have a memorial for Jenna on the 18th of her disappearance. The entire thing was set to be broadcast across the entire coast in hopes that someone would recognize Jenna. Multiple sources said that they thought they saw her in San Diego. The person they thought they saw was not her though.

Tamara Kaplan was Jenna's friend. She hoped that Jenna was going to call her and say that she was alright. That was all she wanted the entire time during the waiting period. If Jenna even texted her that she was on her way to get married to some stranger Tamara would bounce for joy. She never gave up hope that Jenna was somewhere out there because she knew that there was no way that her best friend could have been gone. If her best friend was dead then she would know , she would have a feeling in her stomach somewhere. She told her boyfriend Ricky that she knew that Jenna was coming home soon. Yet that feeling never came , not even when Jenna's parents told her that Nevada police found a body and that they believe it is Jenna's. Tamara refused to believe that someone or something killed her friend.

Matty McKibben who was Jenna's ex was mad at first. He thought she was doing it for attention or that she would show up within a month saying that she was fine and she didn't know why everyone was making a big deal about her being gone. He refused to visit her family at first because he thought that he might have voiced his thoughts if he did just happen to drop by. Then one day he woke up in the middle of the night and he just felt something hit his heart. Though he didn't know it , that was the same time that they found her body. He didn't know why he felt the way he did but he just knew that she wasn't coming back. He showed up to the memorial and he just cried. The anger he thought he felt was sadness and guilt that he wasn't there for her.

Lacey and Kevin Hamilton were shaking as they drove out to Nevada. They didn't want to see their daughters lifeless body laying on an autopsy table. They didn't want to see the scratches and bruises on her body. There was still some dried blood in her hair. The sight was a nightmare for them because they didn't want the last picture that had of their daughter one of her in such a grim state. They wanted to see her smiling and lively. They wanted to see their daughter , not the corpse before them. There were signs of rape postmortem but the culprit must have worn a condom because there was no DNA left behind. There was no way to tell who or why she was killed. The only thing that they knew was she bled to death and that she had enough drugs to kill a horse in her system.

They had a proper funeral for Jenna , everyone in town came. Even some people who followed her story on the news. Her parents both were not afraid to let out their emotions because it was truly heartbreaking for them. Their only child was gone , they were never going to walk their only daughter down the aisle. They would never have grandchildren. They would never see their child develop into a successful woman. Their daughter was never going to say that she loved them again. They never touched her room, apart from cleaning it when she was still missing. The room looked like it was ready for Jenna to come back any minute. Lacey even refused to change it into a nursery three years later when she found out when she was pregnant. She was never going to let go of hope that her daughter would come home.

Jenna Hamilton's killer attended her funeral , or one of them did. A wolf in sheep's clothing he paid his respects to the family . He looked her mother in the eye and said that he wished that he was sorry for their loss. He said that he was at the party the night she went missing and that if he could have stopped her from walking out the door then he would have. Her mother hugged him , and his girlfriend gave him a kiss on the cheek after. Kevin Hamilton shook his hand after and thanked him for coming. He never meant to kill her , it was supposed to be a spontaneous trip to Vegas to go partying with a group of people he was partying with. He never pulled the trigger but he was the one who dumped her body. Catching train back home within an hour of putting her in a dumpster. He waited every day for months to get arrested. He waited for someone to claim that they saw them together. That a video camera of some sorts caught image of him throwing away Jenna like it was nothing. But there was nothing , nothing to pin him to the murder. No accusations against him , no one had even put the pieces together that they were talking at the party before Jenna left. No one thought that Ricky Schwartz was capable of murder.

This is going to be a 3 shot and the next chapter will be of the night she died.
