Fluffer Nutter
Author's note: As the title suggests this is just s fluff chapter because I really can't make it Keith's trial yet so I need some fluff in between the last chapter and this. It will still be amazing, just no key plot points or anything. Actually, I can't promise there won't be anything important because you see dear reader even I do not know the fate of my characters lol just…go with it haha.
Keith slowly meandered to breakfast. He wasn't hungry. Why had he thought of Cameron instead of Damian? Was it only because Cameron was there the last time he got his stiches fixed?
"Hey Keith, over here!" Keith turned to the voice. It was Keith Harkin chick. "You aren't going to let me eat my last meal here alone are you?" Keith sat across the table from her, still deep in thought. "Keith?"
"What's your name?"
"You want to know my name?"
"Yeah, I mean…why not?"
"It's Madeline." Keith didn't know what to say next, so they sat there silently chewing their gruel. Finally, Madeline said
"Keith…are you leaving Celtic Thunder?" Keith was surprised. He had forgotten about Celtic Thunder.
"N-no, why would you ask that?"
"I don't know I was just curious as to…well…I mean…how are they going to…explain you being here?"
"Well I suppose, depending on the outcome of the trial tomorrow…it might be harder to explain –or not- I'm not really sure."
"I didn't mean to upset you, I was just curious."
"I know." Keith hadn't thought about the consequences to his Celtic Thunder image this would bring about. What if he was stuck here forever? Sure it would royally suck for him, but the damage that would do to the Celtic Thunder reputation…and his family…and his solo career. His stomach flipped. There was so much more riding on tomorrow then he could ever have imagined. He pushed his tray away and put his head in his hands.
"Hey, listen it is going to be fine. Oh I feel so bad now. Listen to me Keith, I promise that everything is going to be fine." Keith didn't say anything. She reached forward and touched his arm. He was shaking.
"Breakfast is over! Move out!" a voice over the loud speaker boomed. Keith slowly stood up with a terrified look on his face and walked away. She felt terrible. How could she make it better?
Damian led Ryan to the bathroom in record time. There was no time to turn on a light; luckily Ryan had no trouble finding the toilet. Damian turned on the bathroom light as Ryan finally threw up. Damian did not go near him, he didn't comfort him in any way and Ryan was okay with that. As much as he loved what Neil tried to do, he was much happier to be left alone while he was throwing up. Ryan finally sat back, exhausted. He flushed the toilet and looked at Damian. Damian sat on the bathroom floor on the opposite side of the bathroom just looking at Ryan. Damian's eyes were half open and he looked like a zombie.
"You can go back to bed Damian. I would, but I am pretty sure that I am going to be bowing to the porcelain throne a lot." At the mention of sleep Damian's eyes snapped open.
"No, I'm fine."
"So you are just going to sit there and watch me be miserable all night?"
"Yes-I mean no I am here to help. Is there anything you need? Water? Washcloth?" Ryan shook his head 'no'.
"I hate being sick."
"Why wouldn't you tell Neil you are sick?" Ryan sighed.
"It's kind of a long story."
"Oh."
"I will tell you eventually, but not now."
"Ryan, do you think everything will work out okay tomorrow?"
"I hope so."
"Me too…but what are we going to do if it doesn't?"
"Then we will have to-" Ryan stopped and threw up again. Ryan coughed a few times. "We will have to find a way to make it okay."
Keith felt sick. He ran out into the hallway. Why had he never thought of the damage this would do to everyone else? Was he really that selfish? No, this was a major injustice, HE DID NOTHING WRONG of course he would only think of himself. But had he only been thinking of himself? No. He thought of Damian and Cameron.
"Keith?" Oh great, what more could she want?
"What?"
"Are you okay?"
"Perfect."
"I just-well-I wanted to make sure you didn't take anything I said seriously…"
"I said I am perfect."
"Oh, okay." She left.
"Boy Keithy you are scaring off all of your friends."
"Cam!?"
" Don't sound so happy"
"But I am happy to see you"
"You aren't seeing me"
"Fine happy to hear from you"
"I'm surprised at you Keithy, you have become soft"
"What?"
"Look at you, getting so upset over the POSSIBILITY of harm to the Celtic Thunder reputation, whatever that is."
"But they are family."
"And you think families don't fuck up each other's reps?"
"Look Cam, since you died…I've changed a lot."
"I've noticed Keithy…look at how soft you have become."
"I'm not soft, I'm just…aware of other people."
"And that Keithy, will be your downfall."
"Cam why are you like this?"
"Like what?"
"Why are you so…cold? You were never like this when you were alive."
"Shows how much you know."
"Cam? Cam?" There was no answer.
Ryan eventually fell asleep with his head leaning against the toilet seat. It was kind of cute. Damian didn't know what to do to keep himself awake. He checked the time, it was 4:48 a.m. Where did Neil go? Damian felt alone.
"Big D?" Damian jumped. Only one person ever called him that. A single tear fell down his face.
"Not now, please, not again. I can't take this. I can't take this." Damian continued ot mumble into his arms.
"What do you mean? What's wrong Damian?" Damian knew the voice was coming from behind him.
"Please not now. Not again. Not again."
"Not again what? Damian tell me what's wrong….Is it because you can't see me? Does this help." Damian couldn't believe it. Right there sitting on the floor in front of him was Cameron. This was HIS Cameron, the one with glasses and blue eyes. "Damian why are you so upset?"
"Cam? I-Is it really you?" Cameron smiled.
"Of course, were you expecting your other dead best friend?"
"It just…can't be." Cameron put his hand on Damian's shoulder and it felt just like a real hand.
"But it is me." Cameron pulled Damian into a hug and Damian felt like he was right where he belonged.
"I know you haven't been sleeping well. I know you are going through a rough time right now. I know that it is mostly because of me. I just want you to know Damian that there was nothing you could do. I had to die. It's just what needed to happen and maybe someday in the future when it doesn't hurt so much you will understand what I mean." Cameron never let go of Damian. Damian could feel himself slowly drift off and for the first time in too long he was not afraid.
