Chapter Four: Change of Heart
Raven looked up into the Titan's leaders eyes and froze with fright. Her breathing began to get shallow, her forehead started forming beads of sweat, and her hands started to tremble. She was terrified.
"His eyes are so cold and angry and filled with….murder." Raven thought to herself trying to respond to Robin's death stare.
"What time is it? Why is he back so soon? I thought I had more time?" Raven was trying to piece together how she could have been so careless and let herself get caught. She wasn't ready to tell Robin about the child she was carrying and him walking in on her sleeping on the couch, with her belly exposed was definitely not the way she wanted him to find out. Honestly, she was hoping she could have gone the entire pregnancy without notifying Robin at all, but she knew at some point she would have to come clean.
"Where is Beast Boy? I don't know what to do! That look in his eyes doesn't look good. What if he tries to hurt me…or the baby!? NOOO! I would never let him touch the baby." Raven started to panic and wanted nothing more but to become invisible but Robin's harsh glance kept her petrified.
"What. Is. That?" Robin uttered angrily with his hand still placed on Raven's exposed abdomen.
Raven tried to respond but couldn't find the words or utter a sound. She was completely petrified with fear.
"What. Is. That?" Robin said again his voice rising in volume. It seemed each time he spoke his eyes grew colder.
Raven still remained silent. Trembling.
"WHAT IS THAT!?" Robin bellowed in anger. The volume of his voice startled Raven and she quickly responded. "Robin. Please. Let me explain." Raven said hurriedly getting up quickly causing the room to spin. "It's not what it looks like."
"NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!? NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!? WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!? YOUR FUCKING PREGNANT! YOU HAVE PUT THE WHOLE TEAM IN JEOPARDY! ARRRGGGHHH! THAT BABY HAS TO GO! EITHER YOU HANDLE IT OR I WILL!" Robin said screaming at the top of his lungs.
Raven began to sob and her vision blurred from the tears filling her eyes. In her blurry vision she could see what looked like a green gorilla slamming Robin into the wall. As she hastily tried to dry her eyes to clear up her vision, she could feel the gentle cool touch of metal hands gently scooping her off her feet and quickly carrying her to her room.
"C-c-c-cyborg?" Raven stammered out. She was still quite dizzy from the previous events.
"It's okay Raven. Beast Boy will handle Robin. I need you to lie down and try to relax. I'm going to scan you stomach if that is okay. We want to make sure baby is okay, right?" Cyborg said smiling in hopes to ease Raven's nerves a bit.
"Okay." Raven replied lying down on the bed. Cyborg began scanning and transformed his hand into a holographic projector so Raven could see as well. "Ah there's the little Beasty. Everything is okay. Baby is doing great but you need to relax your heart rate is a bit high. Do you want to know the sex?"
"Can you tell this early in the pregnancy?" Raven said starting to relax a bit and smile.
"Yup! Since your pregnancy is shortened by 4 months the baby develops at an accelerated rate. Compared to an average pregnancy you're equivalent to a human being about 5 months pregnant." Cyborg said smiling.
"Oh well in that case I want to know." She replied smiling.
"It's a boy!" Cyborg replied with some excess excitement that it startled Raven.
"A boy. I can't believe we're having a baby boy." Raven thought to herself smiling and placing a hand on her belly.
The scene in the living room wasn't one of joy and excitement. Robin and Beast Boy stood facing each other with the look of murder in both of their eyes. One side of Robin's face was red from Beast Boy slamming him into the wall.
"Beast Boy stand down and let me deal with the situation as leader." Robin said sternly.
"Threatening Raven while she's pregnant isn't good leadership. You touch her and I'll kill you." Beast Boy said tensing his muscles.
"How dare he threaten Raven and look at her like was going to kill her and the baby. That heartless fucker. I'll rip him limb from limb if he comes anywhere near her." Beast thought to himself clenching his teeth.
"Beast Boy, Raven's pregnancy threatens the whole team. If our enemies knew we had one member out of commission and that there is a baby in the Titan Tower they would come for the baby and we would all be putting our lives at risk trying to protect it. It needs to be taken care of. For the safety of the team." Robin said calmly.
Beast Boy had had enough and lunged towards Robin punching him in his face and sending him flying across the room.
"How dare you even consider getting rid of my baby as if it was just an object!? That baby is my pride and joy and if you come near it. I will kill you." Beast Boy said his eyes going cold with a hint of murder behind them.
"You wouldn't kill me Beast Boy. You couldn't turn on a fellow Titan." Robin said staggering to his feet his face beginning to swell from the punch.
"I could if it meant protecting my family. I've never had an actual family before. I consider you guys like my family but it's not the same as a real family. Now I have that. I have a beautiful girl by my side and a child that will one day call me daddy and I will kill anyone that tries to take that away from me. Would you kill Starfire if she became pregnant?" Beast Boy's voice remained stern but had softened a bit as he began to imagine his family.
"No I would never hurt her. I love her." Robin said now looking down realizing the harshness of his actions. "I'm sorry Beast Boy. I guess I didn't realize we are getting older and more mature. I let being the leader get to my head and I almost hurt Raven and an innocent kid."
"It's okay dude. Just don't let it happen again and I don't quite trust you yet but with time we can get back to where we used to be." Beast Boy said now half smiling.
"May I go talk to Raven? I want to apologize." Robin said to Beast Boy in a solemn tone.
"Not yet. I think she needs to unwind and relax a bit before facing you right now." Replied Beast Boy who turned back into human formed and walked towards Raven's room. "Are you okay?" He asked Raven who was looking at her tummy smiling.
"Yes. It's a boy." She said her eyes twinkling with excitement.
Ahhhh I couldn't keep Robin mean! I like Robin and couldn't keep him as a heartless dick lol I'm thinking this story will have 1 or 2 more chapters and then it'll be done. Please Read and Review! I love you all and thanks for reading!
