Sesshomaru got up and dressed shortly after Kagome had stormed out of his room a small smile on his lips at the sitting Inuyasha had received for running in on their private moment. Though he did not sleep much the sheer comfort and peace he found with Kagome warped in his arms had shocked even him. He remembered when he had received a peace similar when he would hold and shelter Rin but it was deeper with Kagome his beast had done nothing but hum in contentment the entire time. Shaking his head of his thoughts he went to the bath room connected to his room. While he didn't want to wash his intended's scent off of his skin he knew he needed to.
He heard the commotion down stairs and with keen hearing heard the conversations between his Kagome and his brother. Thinking to give them time he hopped in the shower it should give them more than enough time to discuss the monk and slayer he figured.
When he was done and dressing in cloths he left at his brother's home the breeze through the open window brought in the scent of salt and sadness that he knew had to be coming from Kagome. Though his beast clamored to the front of his mind demanding they go and comfort their mate Sesshomaru pushed it back. Yes it was his place but he knew Kagome did not yet see it that way Inuyasha was familiar to her and could share in her pain were as he could not. Jerking his shirt on a little rougher than he intended at the reminder that he was still and outcast to his own mate even if they did share a few sweet moments it was nothing compared to the deep kinship she had with his brother as well as the other lords.
He took deep calming breaths though it only riled him further as the scent of Kagome's sadness permeated the air. He stepped out of his room and headed down the stairs he needed to burn off some of his irritation mediation would help him find his center till he could pull his brother off and spar with him. Walking at a sedated pace down the stairs and hall ways to outside to allow the red he knew was bleeding in to his eyes to fade he found himself at the door sooner than he would have liked. Shaking his head at the irrationality of it all he put his hand on the door and swung it open.
As the door opened Sesshomaru took on step outside and froze in place. There across the yard was his brother and mate incased in each other's arms. While his rational side knew this was a show of comfort not of love though it could be if done between lovers. He knew his brother wished for him and the miko to mate had said so himself. However that knowledge did little to calm his now clamoring beast. As his claimed mate tilted her head up and kissed under Inuyasha's chin the last thread of control he had begun to fray.
Surely she had no idea what she did and even if she did it wasn't wrong really Inuyasha was indeed once her alpha but now she had agreed to the courtship that made he Sesshomaru her alpha it was his right and honor and here she was bestowing it on his brother. It was too much for the strong and proud Dai, his nerves shot and dealing with emotions he had yet to fully understood made it all too easy for his beast to break the low walls he had up to keep him at bay after just two nights ago when his beast claimed the young woman.
Sesshomaru watched in a red haze as his brothers eyes met his than widened, heard in a muffled fuzziness the snarl that ripped from his throat he closed his eyes to blink and in the blink he felt himself lurch forward in the direction of the two.
Kagome got no warning other than the completely vicious snarl she heard before she felt her self being ripped from her best friend's arms. Vision blurring as she was slammed in to the wall of a chest of her mate to be the air whooshing from her lungs, she found herself held to his side with bands of steel around her waist and shoulders. Looking over her shoulder she watched as Inuyasha stood slowly keeping his hands out and visible to the demon that had her in his grasps.
"Easy Sesshomaru" Inuyasha said in a low voice trying to keep the Dai from over reacting any more.
Kagome felt a dark growl against her ear "Mine" she heard in a guttural voice. Looking up she caught site of fangs hanging over pale thin lips and jagged stripes where smooth lines belong. She didn't understand what was going on or why he was so mad but the possessiveness in his voice did nothing to sooth the burning rage quickly building in her gut. "Sesshomaru "she said in a dark commanding voice.
Sesshomaru felt the power of the woman in his arms began to build but try as he might his beast was not going to give control back to him till she admitted he was her alpha. Tightening his arms around said woman he heard her small sound of discomfort and chose to ignore it. Brining his head down he licked the courting mark slowly feeling the tingle of her power on his tongue. It was meant as a gesture of comfort though his beast was more than pleased with the slight shiver he felt run through her body at his attentions.
Kagome was at a loss when his lips and tongue touched the mark on her neck. She was so angry at him but it all seemed to die in the one simple gesture instead she found herself fighting the shiver that was now racking her body. Feeling the vibrations once more against her whole body that she knew was the same purr from last night she felt her body relax even more in his hold. Lost in all the new sensations she had forgotten Inuyasha was still even there till he once more spoke.
"Come on Sess let her go she doesn't understand what's going on and you need to be you to be able to explain it to her" he tried again keeping his voice low and as not threating as he could.
That snapped Kagome out of her daze as she once more looked over her shoulder at her best friend "What do you mean what did I do" she asked puzzlement on her face. After she spoke she felt Sesshomaru tightening his hold on her once more and forcing her eyes from Yasha back to the Dai's chest and she huffed.
Sesshomaru was beginning to relax with his female safe in his arms more than happy with her reaction to his purr and affection. However when she once more turned slightly in his grip to look at his brother after he spoke he pressed her harder in to him. He did not like that she was seeking answers from his brother. Growling darkly again Sesshomaru bent down and nipped the courting mark in reprimand.
Kagome felt a nip than a burning sensation on her neck and wiggled against the tight grip Sesshomaru had on her. "Let me go now Sesshomaru" she said in a voice she hoped was threatening. She needed to be free of him so she could figure out what was going on. When the Dai simply growled loader Kagome yelled out to Inuyasha "What is his problem" she said in a voice clearly showing her mounting anger.
Inuyasha sighed he didn't want to explain this to her "You deemed me your alpha weather you knew you did or not doesn't matter at this point, you are now courting him thus he is your alpha not me" he stated shaking his head at the behavior of his brother.
Kagome huffed in irritation all this fuss over a simple friendly gesture, figuring maybe if she deemed Sesshomaru her alpha he would calm and release her she stood up on her tip toes and pressed her lips to the underside of his jaw. When she was not released she wiggled and got her arms free and wrapped them around his neck pulling him down slightly, once more pressing her lips to the underside of his jaw followed by a quick lick and then a nip. She figured that when he nipped her it was a form of reprimand so maybe if she did the same actions he did to her he would understand.
Sesshomaru was pleased when he felt the press of her lips to his jaw but it wasn't enough for the beast to release her only loosen his hold. When she wiggled her arms free and then wrapped them around his neck to pull him down and licked and nipped the same spot it was enough that the beast released his hold on his rational side and slid back in to its cage.
Coming out of the red haze Sesshomaru knew what had happened he leaned down and licked his courting mark on Kagome's neck once more. "This Sesshomaru is sorry for over reacting" he purred against her skin.
Kagome huffed and leaned her forehead against his shoulder "Ok mister you have some explaining to do" she said in a still slightly irritated voice.
Sesshomaru pulled back allowing his hands to slip and rest on her hips as he pull away "As you wish mate" he said looking in to her eyes. Hoping that she would see his guilt and shame at his behavior.
Inuyasha for his part stood with a goofy grin on his face though he was a little worried there at first it seemed his little best friend had her claws deeper in Sesshomaru than either of them had yet to realize. Shaking his head he made to walk past them and stopped at their side, glancing at his brother he spoke "Why don't you two stay out here and you tell her what the hell she needs to know so this kind of shit doesn't happen again" he said with a huff and then walked by them back to the house. A good strong drink was needed after that his nerves were shot, while he wasn't afraid of his brother he certainly didn't want to go up against him when he was feral like he just was.
Kagome watched Inuyasha till he was behind the doors of his home than once more turned her eyes to Sesshomaru. She gave him a brief smile the down trodden look on his face made her almost feel bad at being mad at him….only almost. Grabbing his had she led him back to the shade of the tree her and Inuyasha was under only moments ago. Sitting and pulling him down beside her she spoke "Ok Sess out with it, we will never mate if I don't understand all this. I know I'm no youki but I'm not stupid either."
Sesshomaru growled slightly "I have never said you were such Kagome" breaking eye contact he looked down at their joined hands where his thumb was brushing over her knuckles in an unconscious gesture. Looking back up to her searching eyes he knew he had no way around this he would have to share everything with her and pray it wasn't too much for the small woman to take in at one time.
