this story takes place 4 years after the first book.
It was a hot summer day, as the Penderwicks went out to their front yard to get fresh air as for had told the girls to exercise. Unfortunately today was the hottest day of summer they had ever experienced so all they could do was wait in the shade, hoping to find something to do, until they saw a limousine park at the front yard.
"Who could that be?" Questioned Jane as she stood up, trying to get a better look.
"Wait a minute..." said Skye " Is it who I think it is?"
"No.. this can't be... didn't his mother not let him come?" Said a confused Rosalind
All their questions were answered as a brown haired boy climbed out of the car, giving the girls a big grin
"JEFFERY!" exclaimed a very excited Batty as she ran to him with Hound at her trail
"Hey Battykins!" Said a very joyful Jeffery as Hound tried to jump on him.
"Hey Jane!" Said Jeffery as he walked over to the three other girls, "have you thought of a new book yet?"
"No.." said Jane very dramatically " I think I might have another case of writers block..."
"Well keep working on it!" Said Jeffery.
"Hello Jeffery" said Rosalind "Hi" said Jeffery
Then came Skye. She felt a weird feeling in her stomach as he reached over her.
"Hello Skye" he said with a gleam In his eye.
"Hi Mr. potato head" said Skye as she aimed to punch his arm but of course, he dodged it.
Soon, after everyone was done chatting, Jane thought of something to do
"Lets go swimming!"
Everyone except Skye had agreed at this.
So Skye said she wanted to stay home for she didnt want to be near Jeffery.
But Jeffery insisted on staying with her.
After everyone left, the two were alone, together with 2 hours to kill.
"Wanna play soccer?" Said Jeffery.
"It's too hot out." Said Skye
"What should we do?" Said Jeffery.
"something to cool us off.." said Skye
"What about Ice cream?" Said Jeffery
"There's no more left" said Skye
After 30 minutes passed Skye got really fusterated for she was really hot and sweaty.
"Try not to think abou the heat!" Suggested Jeffery
"I can't!" Said a cleary fusterated Skye
A few minutes passed until Jeffery moved closer to Skye until his lips were on her lips.
Just when Jeffery was about to pull away, Skye held him closer to her.
The kiss seemed to last forever until they both ran out of breath.
"Wow" said Skye, still suprised.
"I love you Skye" said Jeffery slightly blushing
"I do too." Said a very glad Skye.
Just then the rest of the family came back from swimming
"How were you two?" Said
"Fantastic" said Skye and Jeffery together.
