Chapter 5
"YO HAP! Everything okay in there?" Jax's voice called out, as he pounded on the door.
Morgan narrowed her eyes at Happy and smirked, "I really don't like you."
"The feeling is shared." Happy snapped at her.
She pushed against his chest, ignoring the hard feel of the muscles under her hands, and moved from the spot between him and the wall.
Morgan stumbled over to the door and slung it open, as she turned her head to glare at Happy.
"Don't say a fucking word to me." Happy told her with a look that told her he would make any nasty comment she had ready to come out her mouth one that she regretted. "I will forget who your Daddy was and handle you like a random spoilt bitch off the street."
Morgan drew her head up, arrogantly and smiled at him. "I am sure that you would handle me like a random bitch off the street, because a sorry bastard like you doesn't know anything but street-trash!"
Happy snarled at her and started forward towards her. But Morgan was quickly snatched backwards and Jax was suddenly in front of her, placing himself between her and Happy. But Jax was having a hard time of keeping Happy from Morgan. Mostly because Morgan was smiling and flipping Happy off behind him.
"Get her the hell out of here!" Jax called over his shoulder..
Morgan was quickly jerked backwards and down the hallway. She didn't even bother to turn her head to see who was quickly moving her out of the clubhouse and outside. She only turned her head to look at and see that it was Tig when he got to the office and slung the door open.
"Keep her ass in here!" he barked at Gemma, shoving her inside roughly. "Before Happy kills her mouthy ass!"
"Jesus Morgan!" Gemma swore as she watched the young woman collapse on the old sofa. "What the fuck did you do to Hap, now?"
Morgan rolled her eyes at Gemma, and noticed that her purse was in the office with the large amount of shopping bags from earlier. She rolled off the sofa onto the floor, and scooted over to the bags. "I am sorry for mouthing off to you earlier." Morgan said softly. "There are so many things that you just don't know about Madison and Bo. Things about me.."
Gemma looked at the young woman sitting on the floor that pretended to be focused on the clothing that she as pulling out the bags.
"Honey, you can talk to me, tell what's eating you up inside.." Gemma said softly. She watched Morgan freeze for a moment and then watched her shoulder's slump almost as if in defeat. She was not prepared for the pain, hurt, and sadness that shone in the young woman's eyes when Morgan looked up her.
"Keeping my secrets is the only way that I can guarantee that the only thing that matters to me lives, happy and safe." Morgan said, almost whispering. Every word Gemma heard her speak was spoken in utter heartbreak.
Gemma cocked her head to the side and looked at Morgan, she had only ever heard that kind of pain in another person's voice twice, her own and JT's when Thomas had died. If there was one thing that Gemma was an expert at was the "Keeper of Secrets that kill".
When Gemma started to speak Morgan shook her head at the woman and turned her attention back to the clothes in her lap. Gemma turned her attention back to her work but her thoughts were on the young woman sitting in front of her and the thoughts that ran thru own mind.

The next morning Morgan was the only person on the lot that was not surprised when a new fully loaded Black GMC Terrain was delivered for her, with a red bow and a card that said nothing but "Sugar".
"I remember meeting her when your parents got married and you were born." Gemma told Morgan with a smile. "She was a force of nature."
Morgan laughed, "She still is and she has been my rock for so long. I don't know what I would have done without her."
Gemma knew that she had to be careful with her words, because if she pressured Morgan she knew that the girl would shut her out mentally.
"Juice said that you are doing great in your classes online, that you finished everything quickly ahead of the schedule." Gemma said.
"School has always been easy for me." Morgan said shrugging her shoulders.
"Other than your little escapade yesterday and the fact that you have a death wish with Happy, you have been pretty decent." Gemma told her. "I talked with Madison last night and told her you were adjusting well here."
Gemma took in the way that Morgan tensed at her words, but tried to appear nonchalant. "I didn't tell her about yesterday or that you have been in touch with Sugar."
Morgan nodded and returned to her filing for a few moments. Then she turned to Gemma and spoke. "I know that I have been a little shitty lately at times but there are things that sometimes I struggle with. I can't tell you so please don't ask me. I will even tell Happy sorry for my behavior, just please don't tell Madison or Bo that I contracted Sugar."
"I won't." Gemma said. "I promise."
"Thank you." Morgan smiled relief on her face and in her eyes shining.
Gemma just waved for her to go out into the garage where Happy was working with a couple of the other guys. Morgan took a deep breath and headed out there to handle her business.
She smiled at Chibs and Juice, who were both working on an Impala. Happy was at the bay all the way at the end of the garage, working alone on a brake pad change.
Morgan knew that she had taken out her frustration on him, and the even if he was an asshole she had baited him purposefully. But the text message she got this morning reminded her of what would be lost and exactly who would pay the price for her bullshit.
Happy glanced at her and then turned his back on her. He knew that she hated to be ignored. Morgan swallowed the annoyance that started to rise. Instead she noted the way his sweat soaked wife beater clung to him, the way his pants hung just low enough on his hips to make her fingers twitch in wanting to pull the shirt up and explore the muscular back that was hidden from view. Morgan hated it more that deep down she was turned on by him. In a lot of ways he reminded her of Brayden.
"I just wanted to apologize for my nastiness towards you since I got here." Morgan told him, actually thankful that he had his back to her. It was so much easier to apologize to the back of his head then looking him in the face. "I have been childish and a bitch when it comes to you and I am sorry."
Morgan waited a full minute for a response from him. She knew that he could hear her. Because Juice and Chibs were three times the distance from her and they heard her because both of them had expressions on their faces. But she bit her tongue and swallowed her pride and waited for him to respond, she owed him this.
Finally Happy stood up straight and rolled his shoulders and stretched his arms over his head. Morgan closed her eyes for a brief moment, fighting the desire she felt as she watched him. Watched the way his muscles rippled and rolled, fighting the desire to reach out and touch them. Fighting the want inside her that made her fingers long to run over him.
That was when it slammed into her, the fact that she was attracted to him. She hated herself for that weakness. She vowed to never want anyone like this not so long ago.
She opened her eyes as he turned and faced her, his eyes taking her in from black strappy heal sandals on her feet. Up her tan toned legs in a pair of dark colored jean Capri pants, slowly past her abdomen covered in a fitted black halter top, finally meeting her eyes. Morgan felt hot and cold all at once; she hooked her hands in the belt loops of her pants to stop them from twitching.
Happy held her gaze for a moment and then nodded. No words were exchanged but Morgan got his message loud and clear. He knew that he was under her skin and that was the main reason she was a bitch to him. He accepted her apology but still let her know that he knew the truth behind her words.
Morgan quickly turned away from him and made her way back to the office where Gemma was watching from the blinds. Morgan stopped in the doorway and gave Gemma sour look at the smug smile on the other woman's face.
"Don't. Even. Think. It." Morgan stated, walking over to the desk and snatching the ringing phone off the hook.
Gemma just smiled and walked out the office saying "Going out for a bit, hold down the Fort."
Morgan rolled her eyes and listed to the woman on the phone attempt to describe the noise her car was making. After telling the woman that she needed to bring her car in to be looked at, and setting the appointment. Morgan hung up the phone. Which quickly started ringing again.
"Teller-Morrow" Morgan answered with.
"Morgan." Madison's voice rang clearly from the phone into Morgan's ear.
"Mother." Morgan stated, bracing for the conversation that she did not want to happen.
"I just wanted to tell you that I got good news that you were keeping your part of the bargain." Madison said. Morgan could picture the smug smile that was on her Mother's face.
"As a Mother, I would have thought that you would know that I would do what was needed." Morgan stated, fighting the urge to scream and cuss at that woman on the other line.
"Don't even try my patience with that nonsense." Madison told her. "You need to be thankful that your disgusting behavior was able to be fixed by your Father and I."
Morgan wanted to remind Madison that her father was dead, but arguing with Madison would only cause drama for the ones that she held so close to her heart. The only comfort that she had was that Madison would never know the complete truth and everyone would be safe. Sugar had helped her make sure that her sacrifice was never made in vain.
"Anything else, Mother?" Morgan asked.
"I just wanted to remind you of our deal. You kept yours and we will keep ours." Madison told her.
"Thank you for the reminder." Morgan stated her voice dead of emotions. Madison wanted to hear the pain and heartbreak in her tone, but she wasn't going to give her that. She wanted to scream "Every day I remember, every single fucking minute of the day the pain and loss is there you bitch!"
"Good Girl." Madison said sweetly and then hung up.
Morgan sat there for a moment staring at the phone, her back to the open office door. She couldn't fight the tears that slipped from her eyes, the raw pain that re-opened in her heart from her Mother's call. She sat the phone down on the receiver, and dug the 2 small pictures out her pocket and gazed at them.
"The Camry is ready." Chib's voice called out behind her, startling her.
Morgan stood up quickly and spun around. She shoved the pictures in her back pocket with one hand, and wiped her eyes with her other.
"Okay, I will call the owner and let them know." She told Chibs with a fake smile and cheerful sound to her voice.
The older man looked at her as she took the clipboard from him. He didn't let on that he had heard her phone conversation with her Mother and quick moment of loss of composure. Morgan saw from the look on his face that he knew something was up with her.
"I am going to smoke first then call them, they can wait an extra 10 minutes." Morgan laughed and set the clipboard down on the desk. "Come smoke with me!"
Morgan was past him and out the door but quickly felt him grab her arm and pull her back.
"You dropped these…" Chibs said looking down at the pictures. Morgan froze has he took in the snapshot of Morgan with Brayden that was taken when the first started dating in College, and she heard him suck in his breathe when he saw the second picture. The picture of Morgan holding the café-au-lait skin toned newborn baby with the light colored eyes in her arms. His own Kerrianne at her birth flashed in his mind, with the same coloring.
"Please give those to me." Morgan whispered softly almost begging.
"Lass…" Chibs sighed looking up at her.
"Please Chibs, his life depends on NO ONE ever knowing that I had him." Morgan voice was laced with pain, and desperation. "Dear God please..."
That was when both of them noticed that Happy and Juice were both watching them and heading their way.
"You and I will talk about this later." Chibs told her handing the pictures back to her.
Morgan quickly shoved the pictures back into her pocket making sure this time that they were secured.
"Clay needs us to bring Morgan into the Chapel." Happy growled, tension radiating from him.
Morgan looked at Chibs her eyes wide, silently asking if there was any way what he saw in the pictures could be the reason for her sudden summons.
Chibs shook his head slightly, and Morgan shoulders released the tension had suddenly filled them. Happy noticed the exchange and made a silent note to question his Brother on it later.
Morgan followed them across the lot silently, knowing that whatever she was being hauled in for was nothing that she could not take as long as it wasn't about her son.
