Friends?...
Ricko's POV
(I'm changing it to present tense cause I'm editing all the chapters and it's easier to write like this.)
I'm sitting in class, taking notes when I feel a hand on my chin. I snap my head up to see one of the twins' eyes just mere inches from my own. I blush deeply in shock and quickly move my head out of his grasp.
"Don't touch me!" I hiss angrily. "And go back to your seat, you're going to get in trouble moron!"
He rolls his eyes but sits back down since the teacher is glaring at his back. I smirk and continue taking notes from the board.
~Lunch~
I am dragged to the host table by Hikaru and Kaoru, and they sit me down in between Haruhi and Kyoya. I raise a thin silver eyebrow, "So what's this about?"
Tamaki-senpai looks offended for some reason, "We were just being kind and inviting you to sit with us since you sat alone yesterday!"
"Oh, so you pity me?" I counter and my eye narrow in a challenge.
His expression is confused, "No?" That sounds like more of a question.
I sigh and rub my temples, "Look, I don't need you guys trying to be charitable and help me out; I'm fine."
Kaoru gives me a smile that tells me I'm missing something here. "But we want to be friends with you."
I blush lightly, "Um, uh..." I trail off unsure how to reply to that.
'They want to be friends... with me?'
"Yeah, you seem very nice and you have a great personality, from what I can tell." Haruhi adds with a kind smile. I blush even more.
"What do you say?" Tamaki smiled brightly.
I mach his smile, "Sure, I guess."
~Host Club~
They closed the club down again for some reason today; I think it was because Mori and Hunny couldn't make it.
Just as I was joking around with Hikaru, about how much of an idiot Tamaki-senpai is, Kyo strolls in. "Ricko, I'm here to pick you up. Hatori walks to talk to you about your... WHAT THE HELL ARE DOING WITH ALL THESE GUYS?!" He yells loudly in complete anger at the end once he sees all the boys in the room and I the only girl. Well, except for Haruhi, but Kyo probably can't tell 'cause he's just focusing on me in a room filled with people of the opposite gender.
I hold up my hands in defense and slowly walk towards him, "Okay, Kyo, calm down-"
"I WILL NOT CALM DOWN! WHAT THE HELL?!" He interrupts and his face is red with fury.
"ALRIGHT, THAT'S IT, I'M GOING ALL KAGURA ON YOUR ASS!" I charge at him and send a powerful punch to his cheek.
I hear a squeak of surprise from Tamaki-senpai, but I ignore it. "Oh, so you wanna take this outside?" Kyo throws a kick to my side that I swiftly dodge.
I smirk devishly, "Why bother wasting the time going outside? We can stay in here as long as you don't wreck the place like at home!"
His face gets slightly red and he manages to get a good punch to my jaw. "It's all that damn rat's fault!"
I laughed mockingly, "Oh sure, that's what you always say, kitty!"
Kyo growls, "Shut up, wolf!"
I swipe his legs out from under him and pin him down on the floor with me on top of his back. I hold one of his arms behind his back and painfully pull on it a bit, "Are you sure? 'Cause you're the one who always loses." I smirk broadly as he manages to get out of my hold and throws me off him and onto a table.
I inhale sharply as my back painfully hits the edge. I jump up with a hand on my back, "Ow! Ow! Ow! Kyo! I'm gonna tell Tohru!" I complain and rub the sore spot.
Kyo glares at me, "What the hell is she gonna do?"
I smirk evilly and shriek like a madwoman, "I'm gonna ask for her to make stewed leeks tonight for dinner!" His eyes widen like saucers and he immediately lunges for me.
"Don't you dare!" He yells furiously and races after me as I run in circles round the room away from him.
My eyes widen when I saw I was heading straight for Hikaru and Kaoru, and they weren't moving from the spot. "Kyo!" I panic and frantically try to stop. It's no use though; I can't stop myself from crashing into the two males and my secret will be blown.
"Ricko!" Yuki yells, suddenly coming in between me and the twins.
My body slaps into his, hard, and I beam joyfully, "Hi Yuki-chan!" I wraps my arms around him and snuggle into his chest with a wide smile. Yuki huffs out a sigh of annoyance at having to save my ass. We are also laying on the floor with me on top of him since we are about the same size, and I knocked him over from the impact.
"WHY IS MY DAUGHTER HUGGING HIM, MOMMY?!" Tamaki yells kind of at Kyoya-senpai, but also at Yuki, with angry eyes.
I roll my eyes and get up then help Yuki up too, "Since when am I classified as your 'daughter'?" I place my hands on my hips and purse my lips.
"Since you joined our group." Hikaru and Kaoru reply for him and try to put their arms over my shoulders. Yuki slaps their hands away before they can though.
"Why are you friends with a bunch of guys?!" Yuki and Kyo yell at me each with equally angry expressions.
"Because nobody else wanted anything to do with me!" I shout back, getting angry. "And anyway, what good friends are you, leaving Tohru alone with that perverted Shigure!" I retort and their faces pale to the color of paper. "So I now I have to race home and hope that she isn't already persuaded into doing something nasty!" I huff and stalk out the door.
Before I am out of sight of all of them, I wave to my friends and jog away, much to Tamaki-senpai's dismay.
Tamaki's POV
'Who is this boy touching and fighting with my new daughter?!' I scream furiously in my head. I race over to Kyoya who was watching the fight with interest.
"Kyoya, what's going on?! Who is he?!" I question frantically.
Kyoya's eyes dart to me, his body still faced to the fight. He answers and rests his eyes back on the horrible panting orangehead. "The boy's name is Kyo Sohma; he and Ricko are cousins."
I let out a squeak of surprise when Ricko is thrown onto a table. I am itching to go over there and beat up the terrible boy, but I don't because Ricko could get mad because he is a relative. Then they begin running around the room; Kyo is yelling after her and Ricko laughing.
Suddenly, there was a flash of light purple hair as Ricko starts to panic over something, and she collides with it.
"Ricko!" The owner of the hair yells just as they hit and fall over on the floor together.
Ricko wraps her arms around him, "Hi Yuki-chan!" She smiles happily and hugs him tightly. Yuki has a slight smile on his face as he sighs in annoyance. I feel a pang in my chest of a feeling I can't place. Now I want to kill that boy for touching my precious, pure daughter!
"WHY IS MY DAUGHTER HUGGING HIM, MOMMY?!" I yell at Kyoya, but it's mostly directed to the hoodlum still on the floor with Ricko.
"Do not yell, Tamaki." Kyoya glares at me and I shrink away from him in fear. "That is another one of Ricko's cousins."
Ricko gets up and pulled Yuki with her, "Since when am I classified as as your 'daughter'?" She put her hands on her hips and purses her lips. She's so cute!
The shady twins answer before I can open my mouth, "Since you joined our group." Yuki slaps their hands away when they try to hug Ricko's shoulders. He beat me to it.
"Why are you friends with a bunch of guys?!" Yuki and Kyo yell at Ricko.
Her face heats up in rage, "Because nobody else wanted anything to do with me!" She yells and she looks very scary. I shrink behind Kyoya, now feeling a little sorry for Yuki and Kyo. "And anyway, what good friends are you, leaving Tohru alone with the perverted Shigure!" I freeze and my eyes widen.
'They left a girl alone with a pervert?!'
The two boys' faces paled, "So now I have to race home and hope that she wasn't persuaded into something!" Ricko huffs in anger and quickly leaves.
But before she's out of sight, she waves to us and leaves Yuki and Kyo to panic.
Kyo immediately turns on Yuki, "You damn rat, why did you follow me?!"
"I was already walking here myself, you stupid cat, but then you had to run after me!" Yuki retorted coldly and his eyes narrow in a challenge.
"So you were eager to see Ricko?" The twins tease and lean on each of Kyo's shoulders. Kyo yells at them and they back away slowly.
Yuki glares at him then sighs deeply, "I'm sorry for interrupting." He bows politely to us with a smile. "We'll go now. Come stupid cat." He grabs Kyo's ear and drags him out.
"Well they are a strange family." Haruhi comments and starts to gather her stuff together to leave.
Kyoya spoke up, reading from his notebook, "Well, they have a strange relationship. Many members of the Sohma family are trained in martial arts and a select few are very distant from other people outside the family, interesting." He adds as an afterthought.
"Why?" I ask and turn my head away from the spot Ricko left to stare at my best friend in confusion.
"Because they are different."
"What do you mean?" Hikaru questions and walks over to us.
"I mean, that usually those select few either have been bullied or ignored by their classmates in school. For example, Kisa Sohma, in her first year of middle school, she was bullied for her hair and eye color. Eventually, her classmates saw that weren't able to get to her, so they tried a new tactic, they ignored everything she said." Kyoya sighs, "After a while, it became too much and she stopped speaking to everyone. But within the last year, it was cleared up somehow; I haven't found it yet though." By the time he finishes I have tears welling up in my eyes.
'I can't imagine what it would be like to have everything you said ignored. That's terrible!'
"What was Ricko's life like?" Kaoru asks and sit down next to Kyoya.
Kyoya read his computer, "Well, Ricko never had any friends through middle school or elementary. SHe was teased a lot because her hair color, but mostly the other students ignored her entirely to the point where it seemed she wasn't even there. When she reached high school, she had moved in with her cousins and went to school with them. She did acquire some friends after that from the help of a family friend."
"Her family is so tragic!" The twins cry, holding each other.
"Well men, how about after school tomorrow, we follow Ricko home?" I declare and triumphantly stand up on a chair.
"Yeah!" The twins cheer eagerly.
"Yeah, I want to check out what's going on with her." Haruhi comments with a frown.
Kyoya nods in agreement.
~After School the Next Day~
Haruhi's POV
We follow Ricko home, it was a bit of a walk since she lives a few miles away. I'm panting by the time we get to her house in the woods. We the five of us sit at different places around her house; each looking in different windows and we all have a walkie-talkie to communicate with each other. Mori-senpai and Hunny-senpai couldn't make it today because they have dojo meets.
"She's in the kitchen!" Tamaki-senpai informs excitedly through the walkie-talkie channel.
I use my binoculars to see her. "So how was school today, Ricko?" A light brunette speaks and I can just hear their voices.
Ricko shrugs nonchalantly, "It was fine. The two idiot twins kept trying to hug me though." Ricko puts some chopped vegetables into a pot of boiling water on a stove.
"They didn't actually did they?" A dark-haired man, whom was leaning against the fridge asks with a pen in his mouth.
Ricko shakes her head, "I'm not that unreactionic or something." She laughs a little.
Kyo walks in, pinching his nose closed, "Are you guys making leek stew?" He exclaims and I can see his face turning green.
Ricko smirks, "Yes kitty, we're making it because you don't like it, and Yuki got a bunch of them from the base."
"Base?! They have a base?!" Tamaki-senpai yells through the walkie-talkie.
"Shut up boss, they'll hear you!" Hikaru yell-whispers.
"Kyo, if you're going to just stand there and mope, then you should just go on the roof." Yuki walks in and looks very annoyed.
"You know what you damn rat, how about we go outside?" Kyo grabs the collar of his shirt and yells in the tired boy's face.
Yuki only has to say one thing. "Ricko."
"Got it. KYO, KAGURA'S HERE!" She yells loudly and Kyo's eyes widen to an almost impossible size.
"I'm out of here!" He shouts in panic and races for the door. The dark-haired man trips him on the way. Kyo falls on his face then jumps up and glares at the man, "What the hell, dog?!"
The grins in amusement, "It's time to eat, Kyo. Plus, she's not even here." Kyo glares at a laughing Ricko.
"Dude, you fall for that every time way too easily for your hysterical fiancé!" Ricko giggles as she starts pouring the stew into bowls.
"She's not my fiancé!" He yells very loudly, holding his head in his hands.
Ricko kisses his cheek, "Don't worry, Kyo-chan, I'm just teasing." She giggles when he turns beet red at the term. "Alight everyone, SIT DOWN!" She yells and points to the floor.
"We're eating on the floor?" The man asks dryly with an eyebrow raised.
Ricko fully faces him, "You got a problem with that?" She asks cockily.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do." He leaned close to her and smirks.
'I think I can feel the murderous air coming from Tamaki-senpai nearby.' I sweat-drop as I continue to watch the people in the house. 'So far I think we're wasting our time here. There hasn't been any talk about the family problems.'
I focus my attention back onto them and Ricko wiggles a finger in the man's face, "Oh no, Shigure. What would Ayame say if he found out you were cheating on him?" She teases with a grin.
'So this guy is gay now?'
Shigure replies slyly, "Oh, he cheats on me everyday with you." Ricko rolls her eyes.
"That weirdo does nothing with me; he's your age for Pete's sake!" She pushes Shigure down on the ground and hands him a steaming bowl.
"Who's Ayame?!" Tamaki-senpai yell-whispers through the walkie-talkies again.
Kyoya-senpai answers, "He's another one of their cousins. And Ayame Sohma is also in those select few that are distant from everyone but the family."
Meanwhile, Ricko shovels the stew in her mouth, "Awesome cooking as always, Tohru."
Tohru smiles happily, "Thanks Ricko." Yuki shoves the stew in Kyo's mouth with chopstick and makes him eat all of it. Kyo tries to punch him every time he gets the food stuffed into his mouth but misses every time.
Ricko lays her head on Kyo's lap after they all finish, "So how was your school day?" She asks the three high schoolers.
Yuki answers, "It was fine. By the way, Akito transferred Haru and Momiji to Ouran to watch over you." Ricko brightens up at this and starts bouncing around the kitchen.
"Yay! I can't wait to see them! When do they start?"
"Tomorrow." Yuki answers, smiling a little.
Ricko fist-pumps the air above her, "Now if only you guys could come!" She grins then adds with a glance to her lavender-haired cousin, "I bet you would like a break from the Prince Yuki Fan Club, huh?" She teases Yuki.
Yuki chuckles humorously, "Yes, that would be a nice break."
Ricko gets up and stretches, "I'm gonna go take my bath now." She walks out and Tohru soon went after cleaning up the dishes and saying she wanted to finish her homework and get some extra sleep for a test tomorrow.
"So when does Akito want her back?" Yuki asks Shigure in a grave voice when the three of them stand up. Kyo's expression turns into a pained one and it looks like he's recalling some bad memories.
Shigure sighs deeply and pinches the bridge of his nose, "I know it will be soon. It's almost New Years and Ricko can't back out of that, of course."
Yuki nods, "I'm going to finish my homework." After a few minutes of silence, Shigure and Kyo left the kitchen to get on with their own business as well.
I speak to everyone through the walkie-talkie, "I think we should go home now."
"Yes, I've gotten enough information." Kyoya-senpai adds, "We should go now."
"Alright, everyone ensemble out." Tamaki-senpai orders. I turn off the walkie-talkie and walk home with everyone.
